OFFICIAL-Green Lantern: "Blackest Night" Thread.

I've never been a major fan of the GL character(s) but this book is shaping up to be a real walk on the dark side.

Very depressing and overwhelmingly bleak characterization that has that'd probably have me reaching for a Black Ring myself.

Can't remember the last time a comic book series was this death obssessed outside of anything scripted by Jim Starlin.

So first we know that the BL eat living people heart to recharge there rings (my they have to do this because they have no mini battery yet). They have all Ready taking down three people:eek: all ready and so add two more recurt to there ranks:D. Its going to be crazy form here on in. When they bring back dead superman and Batman :smh: shit going to be bad. But a real question is how do you kill a BL when they are all ready dead:confused:. Gl would need the help of the blue lanterns help but since the gardens sold them out:angry: (the blue Lanterns boost the GL power). I bet there wont be any help coming from that end. hell may be you need to combine all the other rings to make the "white" lanterns to bring these people back to life :dunno:

I was thinking the Same as you. That eventually the Other Lantern corps.. would need to combine to be able to adequately fight the BL corps. But man Death... is Death.. Frak you "recruit" new members with each death.

This book literally SHITS on the Marvel Zombies.

DC have always had a better angle on the dark side than Marvel so I'm not really suprised with the uber-awesomeness of Blackest Night.

I don't know if I'd characterize blackest night as either depressing or overwhelmingly bleak... at least not yet. It has the potential. But I have noticed that DC has become increasingly at ease with killing major characters as of late.

Hey, that was just my first impression reading the issue in question.

There's was nothing remotely cheerful about it hence my seeing it as being depressing and to some extent, nihilistic in the extreme.

Doesn't mean it's a bad look.

Just a bleak one.

Of late, DC have indeed, been on a killing spree as regards most of their lesser known characters and one is left wondering where this is all going to lead in the long run.

It would've been interesting to see what role Darkseid would have played in this scenario but alas, someone saw fit to eliminate the whole of Jack Kirby's 4th World roster in one fell swoop. :smh:

Shit Darkseid may indeed comeback. He is DEAD technically. So we'll see what comes of that. As for DC. They may be housecleaning again. Lowering the sheer amount of heroes/villains to make a cleaner slate. OR they want to show that 95% of their characters are indeed not Safe.

Darkseid was the shit as a cosmic level villain and I really think DC dropped the ball just annihilating the New Gods on a whim.

I sometimes get the impression that a lot've the modern writers these days, just lack the vision and determination to really face the challenge of keeping characters relevant.

The New Gods did not have to die.

Either way, I'll stick around long enough to see what other macarbre suprises Blackest Night will offer up.

No i was talking about Black Hand, but i just checked his wiki page.

I thought he might be Batman resurrected, from the promo art. But i got it now. i think.

No Black hand is his own man. If you read the Origin Issue, it shows that. He did over the years have a hard on against the Flash, batman, And Supes.

BTW did you notice that Black hands "Battery" is Bruce Waynes head?

Geoff Johns is a Mofo.

I didn't even notice that till I read your post thanks.

Also this has me wondering if one of the Four Musketeers will die in this event.

John Guy Kyle and we all know Hal will be safe.

Also the war of light will be big

I don't how, but we're betting it go something to do with BL's using hearts to recharge, but when this is all over their will be a big resurrection of alot characters.

I wonder if a White Lantern, or WL corps, is gonna show up somehow.

In Legion of Superheroes' 30 century records that a "great disaster" happened and some Soddom Yat was the only Lantern left...... You really think DC's got the guts to do it?

Actually I do. DC seems to take bigger risks than Marvel. Marvel Events are usually big, but they lack staying power. DC may frak up their universes, but they ALWAYS shake shit up.

guess after this, somebodys gonna try to go all infinity gauntlet on us.....

I'm about to start getting into this "Blackest Night" joint. I know, I'm late as hell. Are there any prelude issues I should run through first?

Prime won't be showing up for a while...they JUST ended the last mini he was in, and Johns especially won't be writin the guy in a storyline anytime soon...the last two events Prime was in, Johns wrote...give the guy a rest....he's gettin TOO one note anyway...

Yeah Prime is PAST his prime.. good ridance to that fop.

Anywho. The Tales of the Corps is doing a REALLY good job at defining EACH corp. Their values and what they want. Johns is doin it again.

*one tear*

How you can write a DC cosmic story without someone pushing planets?
