Official Grammy's Thread...

So what was the best performance and what was the worst performance? I think Best performance was Bruno Mars, I also liked Paul McCartney's performance at the end. Worst performance was Nikki Minaj followed by Taylor Swift and Rihanna.

welp...shitty show. as mentioned earlier, award shows as we knew them, are long gone.

i just wanted to see what the were going to do for whitney. eh....

no mention of don cornelious? :hmm:

ll cool j mentioned him after the whitney tribute, however i believe they left both don and etta james out of the prepared remembrance.

For the last time,

Don Cornelius and Etta James were remembered movingly early in the show along with Houston by LL. Then Alicia Keyes and Bonnie Raitt.

i know, i was simply referring to the part where they show all the people who passed away.

The problem is that we lost so many people in the past 12 months.

Yeah. Those Dudes and their songs are older than you.
But you know what?
Those old Cats wrote actual songs that mattered and are timeless.
And they still do.
That's why the Grammys drags those Dudes out. The music industry knows that their promoting total SHIT these days, with a few gems sprinkled.

Ain't shit that Jay, Kanye, L'il Wayne, Rhianna, and these other young hacks going to be remembered in 10 years. Hell. Maybe even less.

It's truly disposable now.

And I'm not going to get on the producers' case for not having a Super-Tribute to Houston. Better they kept it simple than put some slap-dash, haphazard shit together like a cheap BET of Soul Train awards show.
Why are you even responding to dude. Look at the username. Dude is young as fuck.

Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry are the Two and a Half Men of music. For some reason not only are they around but really popular as well and I don't have a fucking clue why.
Are you a female? No? Then that explains why you don't get it. Only a bitch can understand this shit.

Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah Rocky.

I know.
I try to have some sense of hope that I can get through to even a few of these younger cats. But you're right. It's a waste of time in the end.

Now where's those "THE WALKING DEAD" links?

I agree. I didn't intend to take away from what those musicians have done with my statement. It's nice that they took the time to acknowledge some legendary artists.

I'm just asking: Can we spend some time recognizing the talent of those that normally don't get the chance to shine because they don't make their records specifically for the target demographics of MTV and BET? Like I would've like to see someone like Ledisi perform, I've rarely seen her perform anywhere. Just one or two people like that.

He was one of the first people mentioned during the "passed away tribute" video segment. So many people died in the past year that it was hard to give everyone time. Common even made a tribute to Gil Scott Heron.

I can see why Jay Z and Kanye didnt show up

the Grammys, have pretty much outlived its worth, with the voting and lack of diversity in the nominees...and that included that Black artists too

bruno mars was pretty good. imo

the rest was highly average, and I give J hudson credit for not going too far out of her lane on short notice

The Rnb, Hip Hop, Jazz, Gospel and Reggae nominees and winners terrible..KIRK FRANKLIN best gospel album....cmon man thats terrible

I like Adele, but dark Fantasy was either album, or song of the year....I mean damn how many years till people realize how genius kanye is

im done too with the grammys....

Chris brown doing techno?? an his choreography is average now, those twins from france are killing dude right now

That's more on US than it is on The Grammys. A lot of those "unknown" Country acts have no hard time getting nominated because there's an audience ready to seek them out. Most of the Black music-buying public prefer style over substance in regards to music. That's a FACT.

I have the Ledisi record. It's okay. Hell. I was surprised to see it was even nominated. Not because it isn't worthy. But because it fell under the Black Popular Music radar. It was geared a bit more towards older cats like myself.

Someone should kick in Nicki Minaj's door, wake her up and rendition her for that bullshit she called a performance last night!

It is slightly contridictory to say that the hip hop winners were terrible when the man who you labeled a genius Kanye West swept the awards either winning or his project or his project with Jay-Z. I do agree that the nominees were questionable. The Carter IV which was trash for Best Rap Album. With the exception of Chris Brown I thought most of the R&B nominees were solid. I would have liked to see the Foreign Exchange or Anthony David get nominated. At the very least it was better than the year that I'm On a Boat was nominated for Best Rap Song and Blame it on the Alcohol won for Best R&B song.
