Watch how in the offseason they gonna be searching for another wing

oh wait you mean the dynamite wing that is the star of the houston rockets

Who by the way is suffering under the tenure of anoher clueless coach in mchale

look KD, Ibaka, Harden and Russ would own the west from now till the sun burn out fam

no way you let that slip through your fingers. to draft those 4 pieces? that's a generational team. keep in mind they still would've drafted adams to go along with those 4?

unfair contest every single night.

that's what makes it criminal. they did the shit through the draft not free agency. so they didn't assemble a super team they drafted one and let it go.

presti the eternal idiot.

disagree they've got nene gortat and humphries [/QUOTE
How is gortat and humphries supposed to box out thompson, love and t-mo while trying to keep lebron and irving from feasting in the paint when jordan/blake, gasol/gibson and now ibaka/perkings didn't even come close..

Good question. And they are just learning to play together. Cavs also looking to dump that expiring contract for either another big or big guard.

It's also funny watching JR and Lebron on the same side. The person guarding Smith knows he can't come down for too long. Irving/Smith are bringing a much more formidable backcourt than Irving/Waiters.

1st. westbrook contained kyrie. that's 1st. 2nd perkins is trash.

3rd playing the pick and roll on defense is what gortat and nene do best, they'd be worse off against a team that had back to the basket big men.

4th humphries is extremely underrated athletically. he is a bigger bulkier thompson. they all too light to contend with him.

The Hawks are much better than that Pacers squad...cut it out
Man this time last year folks was saying the same shit about them...
Today both OKC and the Cavs turned it up to the playoff speed, and both teams showed how dangerous they will be if they make... The hawks are yet to prove they can step it up to that next level... Now they are playing fine under the radar, but lets see what happens when teams turn it up and the game gets physical...

You got it backwards Kyire shut down Westbrook, Westbrook ;went 7 for 26 for 22 while Irving was 9 for 21 for 21..

Funny seeing JR guard Durant after everyone here said it was impossible, yet they still won by ten points and LeBron had more points..

Man the Hawks beat the Cavs by only 8 points with them playing Love, Irving, Dellavedova, Miller and Thompson bench of Amundson, Jones, Price, Harris and Waiters:smh: this Cavs team would blow that cav team out the water just like they did the Hornets.
Until they win something, to me the Hawks are this years version of last years Pacers, media darlings who came out the box hot, but when teams started clamping down on them the folded like a bad hand of poker..

What do you mean by "Until the Hawks win something"? When has Cleveland won anything? What has Cleveland won to earn anyone's respect? You talking like the Cavs are a storied organization who won multiple titles.

So are you saying the Cavs are better than the Hawks?

This time last year the Hawks were 23-20 so what are you talking about saying people were saying the same things about the Hawks?

Bruh...The Hawks handled OKC this past Friday. So are you saying a that OCK turned it up to playoff basketball only for the Cavs who are only a few games above .500? But took it light against the Hawks who are arguably the best team in the NBA?

Man they barely beat the Cavs JV squad with out LeBron... Yo mark my word the Hawks are going to hit a rough spot in the road real soon. :smh: YOur so desperate for the CAvs to lose that your jocking a team that never won shit...

Desperate for the Cavs to lose? Seems to me that the Cavs already do a great job of that. But stay on topic. You trying to weasel out of this debate:lol:

Really? I guess your planning on LeBron going down again.. And them getting rid of the new players they got..:lol::lol::lol::

I want you to come to this thread a month from now... Don't disappear now. Matter fact look on the Cavs schedule and tell me the next time you think they are going to lose...

I must say, J.R. Smith is a different player, and more complete player who compliments the rest of the players, his spot up shooting has been great, AND he's defending! That trade meant the world for the chemistry of this team, and now, they are playing with the MOJO many expected at the start of the season!!

He's the same player in the first 2 seasons in ny, don't depend on him to inspire nobody, but as long as he got somebody to feed off he good

To be honest the trade for Timo was huge, from the point he's very familiar with Blatt.
There wasn't any connection to the coach with the players or the assistants coaches, but the only person that was able to voice David is a great guy & coach was Timo which he stressed once he got to Cleveland.

He won't and he shouldn't Brooks can't coach and mishandles players consistently. Still no reason they can't go 10 deep during the season other than Brooks is a fucking idiot.

Only reason adams plays is because ibaka got hurt

lamb and pj and them were looking ok with the 2 big guns out
now buried on the bench

same way waiters comes and takes reggie jackson's minutes like reggie jackson isn't the rightful 6th starter.

I've been trying to figure this out...maybe they're still looking for a team to trade him to

LeBron James scores 34, leads Cavs to 6th straight win
Associated Press

CLEVELAND -- The sold-out arena buzzed with 20,000 fans decked out in matching gold T-shirts. There was a national TV audience, two high-profile teams and All-Stars all over the floor.

It felt like the playoffs in January. LeBron James played as if it was June.

James scored 34 points, including the first eight in the fourth quarter, and the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 108-98 on Sunday for their sixth straight win.

James made a pair of 3-pointers and a nasty fade-away jumper to give the Cavs a 91-80 lead. Later, the four-time MVP fed Kevin Love for a 3-pointer with 3:38 left that put the Thunder away.

The Cavs, who seemed to be unraveling two weeks ago during a six-game losing streak, are now 6-1 since James returned after missing eight games with a strained back and knee.

After going scoreless in the third quarter, James scored 12 in the fourth as the Cavs kept their momentum rolling.

"We're a confident bunch," James said. "But for us, we're a humble bunch. It's one game versus a very experienced team, a very talented team, a very good team that's been together for a while. It shows that we can match up with some of the high-caliber teams."

Love added 19 points and 13 rebounds, Kyrie Irving scored 21 and J.R. Smith had 14 as the Cavs concluded a 4-0 homestand. Reserve Tristan Thompson grabbed 16 rebounds.

Kevin Durant scored 32 with nine assists and Russell Westbrook had 22 points for the Thunder, who went 3-2 on their longest road trip this season. Dion Waiters, acquired from Cleveland in a three-way trade earlier this month, added 14, but the Thunder shot only 39 percent and couldn't get big shots to go down.

"We were a couple of possessions away from really turning the game to a different outcome," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. "Give them credit. They're playing good basketball right now and they have three great players."

James sat out Cleveland's previous game at Oklahoma City on Dec. 11 with a sore left knee, and Brooks was hoping he wouldn't have to see No. 23 again.

"I want him to miss tonight's game too," Brooks said with a laugh before the opening tip. "I want every advantage I can get. He's not missing it, is he?"

Unfortunately for the Thunder, and the rest of the league, James is back to playing like himself after the two-week health break. He is averaging 30.3 points in his past seven games, attacking the rim with renewed vengeance. His flurry early in the fourth was capped by a long 3 over Waiters, and James punctuated the shot with a menacing glare toward Oklahoma City's bench.

The matchup between the NBA's past two MVPs -- and teams expected to contend for the title -- had a playoff-like vibe. Both teams played as if there was more at stake. There were highlight-reel worthy dunks, hard fouls and some trash talking.

Waiters was booed when he came in as a sub in the first quarter. Cavs fans didn't appreciate his recent comments that he didn't touch the ball enough when he was in Cleveland.

"I didn't pay any mind to that," said Waiters, who hugged James following the game. "It is what it is. Boos, no boos. I can't focus on that kind of stuff."

STOPPERS

The Cavs have held their past four opponents under 100 points.

"The defense sparks the offense," James said. "That's going to be the staple for our season. When we defend, the offense comes a lot easier."

TIP-INS

Thunder: C Kendrick Perkins started for Steven Adams, who was slowed by a migraine headache. Perkins fouled out in the final minutes. ... Oklahoma City is one of just nine teams in league history to be nine games under .500 in the first half of the season before climbing to .500 by the midway point (through 41 games).

Cavaliers: The Cavs are 13-0 at home when scoring at least 100. ... A prolific scorer in his own right, Smith marveled at the 37-point third quarter Golden State's Klay Thompson pulled off the other night. "13 for 13 in the third, 9 for 9 from 3, 37 (points), unbelievable," Smith said. "He should have just walked off the court in the third with the old Larry Bird, one finger up, 'I'll see you all in the locker room, man, I'm hitting the showers.'"

UP NEXT

Thunder: Host Timberwolves on Monday.

Cavaliers: At Detroit on Tuesday.

JR is a roll player, a good one at that, and the roll of the roll player is to make his superstar play like megastars while the roll of a superstar is to make his roll players look like stars..
What usually happens is that some dumb G.M., based on the stats alone would start believing that these roll players are indeed stars and in doing so throw a bag of money their direction thinking they made a steal.. However, these moves never work out and is what seperates the poor teams from the champions (champions obviously know better than to do that shit). Here is a list of those type of role players who play like stars when playing with a superstar, Vinny Johnson, Derick Fisher, Same Casel, John Starks, Robert Horry, Trevor Arizor, etc...
Then there are players who are stars on bad teams but on a good team they become really great role players this is where players like Bosh, Love, Ron Harper, James Worthy, Jason Kid, and Gasol fit in... They key is understanding the team concept/chemistry theory and seeing players how they mesh together instead of throwing a bunch of guys together who has great stats..
Don't believe me all you got to do is look at the NY Knicks the poor decisions they've made assembling that team as it were a fantasy league basketball team..
If you look at one of the greatest basketball teams ever, the Jordan Bulls, you can see the blueprint done the right way, they had only two stars as their core, then they had a rebounder, serviceable big men, a decant bench, tons of jump shooters, and the greatest player on the planet a very good superstar, a top notch specialist (Rodman) and a bunch of very good role players.
Compare that with the Cavs they have the greatest player on the planet, a very good superstar (Irving), top notch specialist (Love), and a bunch of very good role players.. In my opinion if the Cavs were to win, it wouldn't be because of Irving and James (those two are constants who's numbers will be consistent through out the season) it would be due to the role of the roll players and how much the two stars can elevate their play, this is the key ingredient I look for when evaluating a team and what I thought about when thinking about the Love for Wiggins trade where basically I felt Wiggins is better suited learning to be that superstar, a role he would not get the chance to play with so many people on the Cavs, while the Cavs needing a top notch specialist, a role Love is now thriving in and a roll that would be difficult for a rookie to step up and make so many sacrifices to play.
Folks laughed thinking it sounded crazy, now they are starting to realize what I was saying all along.

Here is another stat that illustrates my point on the superstars/roll player thingy, where the superstars play is usually a constant however its their ability to lift their roll players game play that ultimately becomes the determining factor.
In yesterdays game the superstar dual of Durant/Westbrook went for a combine 54 points while LeBron/Irving 55, almost dead even, while the Cavs roll players were +9, this stat illustrates the biggest difference between James and Durant, where KD is good at elevating his teammates, no one is better at it than James..
If you were to analyze their career one on one match ups I bet you, you would get similar results with the numbers..

It's time to call LeBron an MVP candidate and where #Cavs rank defensively during this streak. Final thoughts

Cavs 108, Thunder 98: Jason Lloyd's 13 final thoughts

CLEVELAND: Thirteen thoughts for 13 rebounds from Kevin Love in an impressive 108-98 victory Sunday over the Oklahoma City Thunder…

1. LeBron James began the day seventh in the league in Player Efficiency Rating, or PER, which combines all of a player’s statistics into one number. He’s second in the league in scoring and his team can’t win when he doesn’t play.

2. So why, exactly, is he never mentioned in the MVP race?

3. It’s striking to me how little consideration James is receiving when discussing the top candidates this season. The Cavs are 24-12 when he plays and 1-8 when he doesn’t. If the definition of the MVP award is a player’s value to his team, I’m not sure how much more proof is necessary. That .667 winning percentage when he plays matches the Wizards’ winning percentage this season – and they’re ranked second in the East.

4. James is averaging 30.3 points and shooting 51 percent since taking two weeks off. He seems re-engaged, presumably because he’s healthy and GM David Griffin gave him the pieces he wanted in a big man and help on the wing.

5. In fact, James is starting to soften his stance on the Cavs’ outlook. For months, any time the idea of the postseason was mentioned, James immediately dismissed it with some variation of, “we’re nowhere good enough to worry about the playoffs.” When I revisited the topic with him after this win, however, his answer started to change.

6. “There’s such a long road ahead of us, I’m not going to get too ahead of myself personally. As the leader of the team I understand how important each day is,” James said. “But we’ve improved mentally more than anything. Obviously we added some great pieces in Shump, J.R. and Mozzy. We’ve played some great basketball as of late.”

7. With nearly three months left in the regular season, that’s as close to an endorsement as you’re going to get from him.

8. This was one of the more impressive victories of the season with this disclaimer: This was the Thunder’s final stop on a five-games-in-seven-nights trip through the Eastern Conference. The last game is always difficult on tired legs. But the Cavs played well.

9. They held their fourth consecutive opponent under 42 percent shooting, the first time that has happened all season. Forget all the other numbers. That’s the most important.

10. In four games this week, Cavs’ opponents shot 39.8 percent – sixth in the NBA. This is the same team that began the week ranked 29th in defensive field-goal percentage. Take it back all the way to the road win against the Lakers and the start of this six-game winning streak and opponents are shooting 42.8 percent, which ranks eighth.

11. I’ve written it all season and will continue to write it until my fingers bleed – the Cavs have no chance of winning a championship without a top 10-12 defense. And right now, for the first time all season, they are finally defending like a top 10 team. As Iman Shumpert gains more of a role on this team, that should only continue.

12. Not to get too far ahead here, but the only game that should challenge the Cavs in the next 10 days is a home game against the Trail Blazers on Wednesday. The other opponents between now and a visit from the Clippers Feb. 5: the Pistons, Kings, Timberwolves and 76ers. Somehow the Cavs have already lost to three of those four, but the way they’re playing now they should get all four of them.

13. Cutting these short tonight. Cavs are taking Monday off except to fly to Detroit for Tuesday’s game. Something tells me this one won’t end in a 23-point loss to the Pistons. Talk to you Tuesday from the Palace.

Whiteside is Officially the second best pure big man center in the nba.. Al Jeff is first

Yeah, I can't believe I'm see all the movement I'm seeing. It's like all of sudden they are at least giving what Blatt says some thought.

I can only imagine the mental effect it must have on Blatt having Mozgov there.

I never doubted Blatt's ability, but I knew players would have a problem with him because he is new over here. A little confidence goes a long way.

There's no greater power than "Belief"

Why is it when the Cavs was losing, it was due to coach LeBron doing Blatts job, now they are winning suddenly Blatt is at full control and is some sort of a genius.

Lmaooo

Only reason why they winning is the offense is running through Lebron

Well there has been more movement on offense. That is Blatt's style. Don't get me wrong, they still do a ton of isos, but it's not as bad as before. I'm sure Blatt doesn't like running that box-and-one shit.

But this entire season has been about consistency. Can they keep it up?

I'd still prefer more movement. I really like how the bigs were unselfish yesterday. Thompson kicked the ball out instead of trying to force his clumsy offense. Love made extra passes. So did Mozgov.

I highlight this a few pages back I'm so it again...

Bulls-Cavaliers Preview
STATS LLC

The Chicago Bulls' gauntlet of an upcoming schedule began with a loss and doesn't look to ease up anytime soon.

That includes a matchup with the resurgent Cleveland Cavaliers.

Chicago tries to avoid its fourth loss in five games Monday night when it faces the Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Bulls (27-15) fell victim to red-hot Atlanta on Saturday, falling 107-99 at home despite 23 points and 10 assists from Derrick Rose.

The road from there only gets more challenging with Chicago's upcoming slate featuring contests against reigning champion San Antonio, 28-win Dallas and NBA-leading Golden State.

A fully functional roster would certainly help matters for the Bulls, who have lost five of seven. Rose has averaged 25.5 points and 8.0 assists over his last four games, but Jimmy Butler has topped the 20-point mark just once since Jan. 7 and Joakim Noah remains sidelined with an ankle injury.

"If I had the answer, I swear I wish I could tell you," Rose told Chicago's official site. "Once again, communication, trusting, and just the effort. It's frustrating, very frustrating. We've got to get it together if we want to go far.

"We definitely got to learn how to get stops. We're going to score enough points to win games, but our defense isn't up to par."

The Bulls ranked in the upper half of the NBA with 98.8 points allowed per game through the season's first 35 contests. In the last seven, however, Chicago has surrendered 103.1 points on a league-worst 49.6 field goal percentage.

Cleveland (21-20) meets Chicago at an opportune time considering the Cavaliers' upward trend. After falling below .500 with a six-game losing streak, they made the most of a two-game stint in Los Angeles, beating the Lakers and Clippers on consecutive nights. The Cavaliers shot better than 46 percent in each win -- something they had not accomplished since Dec. 23.

LeBron James and Kyrie Irving combined for 69 points in Friday's 126-121 win over the Clippers, leading Cleveland to its highest offensive output since Nov. 15.

"Communication between us and the coaches is getting a lot better," Irving said. "Just being out there and the coaches calling plays and me and LeBron seeing something out there and calling plays, and then we just got to go execute."

James has averaged 33.7 points on 52.3 percent shooting and 7.7 rebounds since returning from injury on Jan. 13. He experienced a similar level of success in Cleveland's previous game with the Bulls this season, scoring 36 points in the Cavaliers' 114-108 overtime road win on Oct. 31.

Chicago, however, has given James more trouble than most any other NBA team, defeating the four-time MVP in eight of their last 14 regular season meetings.

"They've put in a system over the years," James said of Chicago. "We have our system in place, but we've added a few new guys. We've had some injuries as well. We're starting to pick it up and guys are starting to get healthy, so I'm looking forward to seeing what we can become."

Kevin Love expects to return for Cleveland after he missed Friday's contest with back spasms. Tristan Thompson filled in nicely for Love, scoring a season-high 24 points on 10 of 12 from the field with 12 rebounds in a rare start for the fourth-year forward.

The Bulls have won seven of eight in Cleveland.

They did move the ball pretty well tonight, but who knows if they are listening to the coach. It could be Lebron ordering things as he did during the last winning streak when he moved Kyrie.

I forgot to comment on that part when I made the post, but it's clear as day these two fuckers along with Tyrone Lue is a huge part of the chemistry problem. It not a problem like the Clippers have(players don't like each other), just some players flexing their muscles to show they're bigger than the coach, which could be the team downfall. Honestly if they keep that up I hope they don't win shit and never win shit. You got a fresh knowledgeable coach that y'all could accomplish great things with but y'all tripping fuck that.

You got it backwards Kyire shut down Westbrook, Westbrook ;went 7 for 26 for 22 while Irving was 9 for 21 for 21..

You mean Russ missing all those pull up jumpers he normally makes. Just more a bad shooting night. Kyrie can't shut down shit. That kid is clueless on defense.

Lmao at Kyrie shutting someone down

He's prob one of the worst defenders in the league

you clearly didn't watch the game.

Russ had a bad shooting night and still fucked around and almost had a triple double.

think about that.
22 points 11 assists 9 rebounds and this was a bad game for him.

Meanwhile Kyrie had no impact on the game at all lol.

Nice try
