im guessing he loses his license at some point and becomes saul goodman. what i don't get is how he can operate in the same space as before? wouldn't people recognize him?very strange. or maybe he feels guilty about his bro's death that he changes his name to hide the guilt

i know jimmy had a kansas city lunch pal as a cinnabon manager and ol girl is from around that way. is she still with him when he bounces? she's a ride or die so far

In breaking bad Saul told Badger that he changed his name to "deal with the homeboys". Also, in a breaking bad webisode we see a University of the American Samoa law degree with Saul Goodman's name on it.

Maybe he was telling the truth and the name change has nothing to do with Chuck. It seems unlikely that he would get disbarred, change his name AND retake law school.

Also glad for that little scene with Hamlin when he basically tells Chuck, look man, none of this happens if you don't bring yourself into the office and work like you supposed to. Hamlin gonna cut his losses after this tirade.

It goes deeper than that.

Disbarring Jimmy doesn't help HHM. If anything they'd be cutting the throat of someone who brought them millions of dollars in business. Yet Hamlin was willing to take that risk and even bankrolled a private eye just to satisfy his top lawyer's personal grudge. This is on top of him losing documents, abusing his legal staff and forcing people to accept his imaginary illness.

I get that Chuck is a good earner, but at some point something has to give.

Nah. You're missing the clues. Chuck is literally method-acting his "illness". He just never breaks character.
Every time he's passed out or had a panic attack, he acts like it's from the lights or EM fields or some shit.
The more "in charge" he feels at any given moment, the less "afflicted" he appears at that time.
But if you go back and look, all his hypersensitivity "incidents" happen at the exact moment Chuck realizes he's lost control of the people in his immediate vicinity. All that falling out and cracking his head and shit just serves to focus attention back onto Chuck.
While Chuck might be doing quite a bit of it subconsciously, that just means some of it is habit and reflex.
He knows full well what he's doing.
you just described his mental problem. his perceived illness kicks in whenever he feels he's not in control. no one fakes an illness like that. lol

hmm, still doesn't make much sense. a simple name change is not going to throw off somebody when you have the same face and in the same area. dude's face is plastered on commercials. unless he's dealing with mentally retarded gangsters. maybe he just did it because he liked the name better.

What if it's the other way around? Jimmy McGill becomes Saul Goodman because of something chuck did?

Chuck did a lot of damage to his own reputation and to the firms just by pursuing this case. Even if he had won it would show other HHM clients that their documents are not safe. Jimmy already has a questionable reputation as it is. He doesn't need his brothers lack of ethics to make things even worse for himself.

interesting theory

Good to finally get some questions answered on the Jimmy / Chuck saga. I've had to deal with mental health issues with a family member and I can definitely relate to the destructive potential of self delusion especially when it manifests itself in some one you care about.

Only unanswered question is how does Jimmy come to take on the Saul persona. Is it some kind of deal worked out to preserve Chuck's dignity and "good" name. that he does it voluntarily?

It already gave background. Like Chuck mentioning how Jimmy stole from the store when they were kids.

It would have to be a name change. To change his character he had to work in a donut joint. Not stay in the area doing commercials.

Munchausen syndrome is a psychiatricfactitious disorder wherein those affected feign disease, illness, or psychological traumato drawattention, sympathy, or reassurance to themselves. Munchausen syndrome fits within the subclass of factitious disorder with predominantly physical signs and symptoms, but patients also have a history of recurrent hospitalization, travelling, and dramatic, extremely improbable tales of their past experiences.[1] The condition derives its name from Baron Munchausen.

No, that muthafucka is fully aware that he's not allergic or sensitive to EM. It's an act he puts on in order to control the actions of those around him. Probably was really helpful in changing the conversation when he got tired of people asking him if he was ok after the wife left him.
When Chuck smacked that phone out of the wife's hand, it wasn't about electricity. It was REALLY because she was on the phone with Andre, and in that moment, Chuck had no power over her actions.
i was right. you see how he had trouble with that battery? he believed that shit

When did you find out the producers wanted you on the show?

I was on holiday in the Canary Islands in September, and it came through and I wasn’t on my phone for a week. And there was an email saying we’d like you back. It made the holiday even better. It was just one episode which we did in December for two lines with Gus.
