The porn industry has once again shown it is at the forefront of technology, with Digital Playground announcing porn for the Apple iPad.

The porn peddlers are claiming that its video content is optimised for the Apple iPad, including true high-definition streaming.

Digital Playground is offering this automatically on all company owned websites including: www.digitalplayground.com and www.jessejane.com.

We're sure that Jesse Jane was an infamous outlaw or something, but don't worry, we will check out the website later thoroughly for research purposes.

10 inches is good

"As the world leader of high-definition productions, Digital Playground is poised to deliver the highest quality movies to all platforms including the iPad," said Farley Cahen, VP of New Business Development about the iPad porn announcement.

"Users can now enjoy the handheld experience by viewing on 10-inch screen where prior they were watching on a iPhone or iPod screen."

Yes, Digital Playground is jumping on the bandwagon but considering the porn industry were first to HD and 3D, this is nothing but a positive thing for Steve Jobs' tablet wunderkind.

It's no secret that Apple harbors no love for Adobe's Flash architecture. John Gruber over at Daring Fireball recently wrote up a wonderful treatise as to why this is the case. If you have a spare hour or so, I recommend giving it a look-see. I'll spoil the ending for the sake of continuing on with this column: Flash is a proprietary architecture that Apple has no control over. Thus, when Flash-based elements wreak havoc on the stability of Apple platforms, Apple can't do much to fix the issue--nor can the company convert the 32-bit Flash binary over to Apple's goal of a system-wide, 64-bit experience.

Naturally, Apple's only real choice has been to dump support for Flash in certain use situations--namely, the company's iPhone (and surely the iPad as well, given the supposed similarities in their underlying operating systems). In order to incorporate a similar level of interactivity and video processing as delivered by Flash, Apple's turned to a combined replacement of HTML5 and JavaScript. But the media codec that Apple's thrown its support behind for HTML-based video rendering is H.264. Ain't nothing open about that.

The enemy of Apple's proprietary enemy might be the company's friend, but it's no friend to the Internet.

I never understood why Apple was so against Flash, now I can understand them for not wanting it. Guess, it can cripple their OS, and not having complete control, just won't do.

i read on it today. it will have its own ebook code which won't work on anything else. and it won't allow for ebook or other content u have already to be loaded on it im sure it will have a converter but i am not sitting here and converting all the content i have then loading it into itunes b/c of the deals they made with publishers to avoid content being stolen/swiped.

i'll wait on the msi tablet or the htc halo or even the hp slate... hell this thing only shows video at 420p...i'll wait until generation two or i'll just cop a macbook or a notebook and load mac os on it and call it a day...heck might go back to linux and avoid the hassle...

once again, Apple has not marketed this product. there are no ads (tv or print) for this device. it was presented today. Jobs showed off the hardware and the software. how people will use it and which people will buy it has all been speculated by the media and public.

right now the product is geared more towards a media device as opposed to a laptop. with OS 4 and a slew of apps, that will change. all apple is doing is creating a hybrid platform that appeals to content creators and content consumers. this app has added another component to the iTunes store which in turns pushes product. the full capabilities of the device will be tied to the new OS and the new apps developed specifically for it.

give it time. soon come…

It doesn't have flash, so you're stuck watching whatever you uploaded at the time or buying low-quality videos from iTunes on slow internet.

Fuck flash. I'm already trying to turn off half the flash shit popping up in my browser windows whenever I go somewhere on the net.

And I already have a computer as my main internet browser.

so does it have flash or doesn't it have flash???

One of the major complaints so far about Apple's new iPad tablet device has been a lack of support for Flash content, a limitation also placed on the iPhone. At several points during Apple CEO Steve Jobs' demonstration of the iPad at Wednesday's media event, the device displayed a "broken plug-in" icon on Web pages such as The New York Times where Flash elements were included on the page.

9 to 5 Mac noticed that demonstrations of Web browsing in Apple's iPad promotional video reveal properly loading Flash content on similar Web pages, suggesting either that the iPad device used in the video supports Flash or that Apple has manipulated the promotional video in order to hide the fact that the iPad does not support Flash.

wait, aren't they using the same file format for ebooks that everyone else uses? that's what i heard in the presentation. it's just like itunes, you can purchase from their store, but still be able to load your correct file format content on there as well.

Damn! This Archos 9 is really nice looking, didn't know it was out! Damn, this will make things a little harder to choose from now. Apple, Archos, HP, Dell, & HTC(I'm not buying the hype, that all of sudden they are pulling out).
I waiting for something like this but with OSX, not no fucking MaxiPad

Jim Cramer today on Chris Matthews show said the ipad will be the biggest device in history.

jim cramer owns a shitload of apple stock and always plays them up. his followers will believe what he says and buy buy buy....he's looking out for his bottom line

been lookin at this for a little while. couldn't you load OSX on it like i've seen them do on some netbooks?

me too but the i'd rather the smaller one cause its easier to carry around. Shouldnt be hard to put OSX on it all the other archos devices have been hacked to some degree. But unless u know linux ur gonna have to wait awhile for someone else to do the work

Just wondering, how well does OSX, work as a touchscreen OS/interface anyway?

That's a good question, because I could hackintosh a HP slate or Archos 9 to make it my own fucking person iSlate!

I really don't need access to apps from the app store since I got an iPhone, even though that would have been cool.

Like I said in my personal post a few pages back, I can understand why they didn't include some of the features because of cost and being able to compete well under the $1000 mark, but that shit is just not for me... :smh:

I always wanted a tablet PC that was sleek, fast, and adaptable for my purposes...this is not the iPad, nor was the iPad intended for that...

just saw an iPad app running in emulation....

HP was mentioned but it was the iphone/ipad sdk they were working on..

I want to keep this and a few threads alive for after the ipad releases so we can laugh at the naysayers in unison.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

yall dont even have a choice.. companies have already decided how you going to get your media...

one of my original points was about using the ipad/tablet as opposed to a netbook in the kitchen..

the app i saw was a recipe/grocery shopping/etc app that will sell for .99 with extra features for more money..

slap on the ipad stand and viola. one of the surveys mentioned discussed the differences between those who dont want one and those who do. the haters are primarily apple haters, they will still end up with some sort of tablet.. so for the media providers no loss. as for the the apple supporters, majority of them are buying more than one at once to avoid dominance by one household member..

they are already prepping video code to work around flash

Apple haters don't wanna hear this mayne. Them AND Adobe got caught with their pants down when Hulu announced they were gonna make their site iPad compatible without any fuss. Now most major video sites are HTML5 ready.

interesting
