To start off... Paul Williams & George Peterson Were In Attendance Saturday Night To Watch Shane & Margarito Face Off...

Quotes From Article..

"Williams thought Mosley would win the fight, but was even surprised in the one sided nature of the fight. Williams thinks margarito is done as a fighter. Over the years Margarito has been in a number of wars. Williams credits those wars to the physical decline of Margarito against Mosley.

"I'm sure Margarito wishes he took the deal now, he would have lost still but at least he would have went to the bank. Instead he lost his pride, his title, and 2 million dollars. I thought Mosley would win. I thought Mosley would win the first 7 rounds than Margarito would come on late, but after I saw him taking all that damage I knew it was only a matter of time"

"He took all those right hands. Shane took my blueprint & Cotto's blueprint and used them both. He stopped Margarito's momentum, didn't let him get off and jumped on him with combination's. After a few rounds his body couldnt take it anymore. Margarito thought Mosley would tire out but Mosley is a 12 round fighter, he wont tire out. Margarito was just a heavy bag that was moving. He ate everything that Shane threw. His corner should have stopped the fight. Sugar Shane was just getting stronger and stronger. Shane beat him with speed, but people dont realize that speed is power."

"He is definitely done. He went 12 hard rounds with me, 11 with Cotto, 12 hard round with Clottey and the fight with Santos. I like him as a fighter and hope he can come back and become a better champion, but everyone has the blueprint on him now. He's fought the same way his whole career and cant change"

"If Williams can secure a win over Wright, the stage would be set for a faceoff between Williams and Mosley. Williams is confident he can still come down in weight to 147 safely. He wants Mosley but doesnt believe the fight will happen. He believes a win over Wright will only scare Mosley away."

"Shane wont fight me, even with his big win over Margarito. Margarito comes leaping in, is staight forward and Shane knows it wont be like that with me. I would love to get Sugar Shane in the ring, I hope he thinks it would be like that for me. I dont know what I could do to get Mosley in the ring. We are going to put a good beating on Winky, but after Mosley sees that he really wont want any. He'll see me beating guys at 160 & keeping my power and he wont want any"

"Like his fighter, Peterson saw teh Margarito loss coming. He agrees that Margarito shuold have turned down a fight with Mosley and taken the bigger check for a rematch with Williams. Perseton, like Williams, viewed Margarito's performance against Mosley as a sign of hsi physical decline. A physical decline that Peterson attributes to the multiple wars on Margarito's record. According to Peterson, Margarito's aura of being a feared product is over."

"I always said the "Tijuana Tornado" was a soft breeze at the shore. They tried to protect him from us and lost 2million dollars. We want Shane after Winky. I congratulate Shane. He looked the Sugar Shane of old. Not to take anything away from Shane but that was not the same Margarito that fought Paul. Margarito was involved in too many wars. He went twoelve hard roudsn with Paul and then eleven with Cotto. I'm telling, watch, everyone will start calling Margarito out- Says Peterson"

"Mosley saw what Paul did and what Cotto did and said to himself 'they worked him over real good so now I'm goign to step in adn finish him off.' He came to that fight as a finished product. We already spanked that butt adn after Winky, we are goign to give that same kind of spanking to Sugar Shane." - Says Peterson"

"I think Cotto will get him this time. I don't think he will lose the rematch. You have to stop Margarito's momentum and thats what Sugar Shane did and made Margarito a dead man walking" - Says Williams.

"I don't Mayweather will take that fight with him. I think Shane can beat Mayweather. They are both fast, but Mosley has more power. The only real guys out there for him are me and Manny Pacquiao. I see him Picking Manny over me. Fighting me is a suicide mission."

Article side notes.

Mosley's win had a black cloud that circled over the Staples Center. A black cloud taht circled aroudn Margarito. Williams gave his opinion on the continued controversy over Margarito's hand wraps for teh fight with mosley. HBO broke the story to a stunned veiwing audience.

according to HBO's Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant, Mosleys Trainer Nazim Richardson noticed an unusual shape to Margarito's wraps. He made a re-wrap request to an inspector with the California State Athletic Commission. After Margarito's hands were unwrapped, a "plaster - like substance" was discovered. There have been conflicting stories on what the inspector actually fodn, but an attorney for Golden Boy promotions confirmed that it looked like plaster.

"it was a plaster - like substance," said attorney Stephen Espinoza to Yahoo Sports. "It was bagged up by the commission and taken as evidence."

Williams says the controversy is being made to be bigger than it actually shoudl be. He doesn'y see how anything wuold have helped Margarito in teh fight.

"It didn't matter what Margarito had in his gloves, it wouldn't haev changed the outcome of teh fight. He didn't land nothing. He couldn't land any punches. Sugar Shane took him to school,"

Did you see Hopkins run damn near across the arena when Margarito went down the first time? Go back and look at him during the end of round 8.:lol:

That nigga was going nuts! But he knows his shit though. I don't think he stayed in his seat more than 1 minute during each round.

yo it was funny as hell seeing him get more excited about the possible knockdown and shit than mosley...before he knocked him down the first time you saw him yelling and motioning body shot body shot...then dude took the fukk off when margarita got knocked down...

Margarito, trainer await results of tests

Former welterweight titleholder Antonio Margarito and his trainer, Javier Capetillo, had their licenses temporarily suspended by the California State Athletic Commission on Wednesday pending the outcome of an investigation into the "plaster-like substance" found on Margarito's hand wraps before his fight last Saturday night against Shane Mosley.

"The temporary suspension will remain in effect until CSAC has fully investigated the circumstances surrounding events at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 24, 2009," commission chairman Tim Noonan said in a statement. "A foreign substance was found by California State Athletic Commission staff in the hand wraps of Antonio Margarito before his bout against Shane Mosley at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The substance found in Margarito's hand wraps is currently being analyzed by the California Department of Justice. An investigation as to whether either licensee violated CSAC rules is ongoing."

Noonan said Margarito and Capetillo have been asked to appear at an initial hearing on Feb. 10.

About a half hour before the fight, which Mosley won by dominant ninth-round TKO to regain the welterweight championship, his trainer, Naazim Richardson, objected to the way Margarito's hands were wrapped.

When the wraps were cut off to be rewrapped, officials found what was deemed a "plaster-like substance" in the wraps. Two pieces of gauze, one in each glove, allegedly had the substance on them.

"From what I know, there was a plaster of Paris-like substance in Margarito's wraps and the commission has these wraps under seal and is investigating what kind of substance it is," Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, who promotes Mosley, told ESPN.com. "I'm happy to see the commission realized how serious the issue is and is acting swiftly. We'll see what the outcome will be of the situation."

"Commission staff will have no further comment until such time as the commission makes a final determination of whether licensee actions in this case warrant fines, suspensions, or the revocation of licenses," Noonan said.

Past opponents of Margarito are watching the outcome of the commission investigation with interest. Attorney Pat English, who represents former Kermit Cintron promoter Main Events and Vinny Scolpino, the manager of Joshua Clottey, sent a letter to the commission on Tuesday to alert the panel of their interest.

"We have seen many allegations in this sport and will form no conclusions until the wraps are tested," English wrote. "However, if they test positive for an illegal substance a logical question will be whether the illegal substance was used in other bouts, and we will ask the commissions of the other states where Margarito fought to make appropriate inquiries."

English asked the commission to forward any test results related to the case.

Margarito has twice knocked out Cintron in welterweight title fights when he was promoted by Main Events, the only two losses of his career. The most recent time came in April 2008 in Atlantic City, N.J., two bouts before Margarito faced Mosley.

Margarito retained a title via unanimous decision against Clottey in December 2006, also in Atlantic City. Clottey would go on to later win a world title.
