It was going to be tough with this lack of Cap room to Pay AJ 100 Million and Pay Simmons over 100 Million next year.
Simmons is the Second best Defensive lineman in the league... He is going to need his Max money. He is a Unicorn.
This trade was really about Next year when Tanny is off the books and Simmons gets his extension.

I also think this trade is also because AJ might have a knee issue... He didn't miss alot of games but every time he fell to the ground it looked like my man had issues with his knees.

Should have taken Willis. He's unproven but he has way more star potential than Kenny Pickett. As stacked as the AFC is you need one of them ones at QB to get to the Super Bowl.
I feel more confident in him than Willis. Willis is a social media pick I think. Pickett is more NFL ready. Honestly, I'd rather them go with D line help in the 1st but I understood with only 2 quarterbacks under contract currently (and Rudolph ain't shit) they had to take one in this draft. Especially with Jordan Davis gone.
Simmons 5th year option got picked up for 2023 which will keep his cap number low but will go up in 2024 once he gets that mega deal. Im sure he will get a mega deal next year.
Tannehill eating up 40 million in cap space this year but the Titans can release him next off season to clear the cap plus the cap is supposed to jump significantly next off-season.
Harold Landry got a huge contract but they structured the cap number low this year around 5 or 6 million in anticipation for the cap jump after the tv deal revenues kick in.

I think Tomlin and Colbert felt more confident Pickett can play sooner than Willis. Malik needs some serious seasoning. Think Justin Fields from last year. Steelers don't have the patience for that kind of fuckery when Willis steps in.

As a Bears fan I saw Justin Fields first hand and it was frustrating but much of that was on the coach. I've also witnessed Mitchell Trubisky's brand of fuckery for years and the Steelers signed on for that.
