My cousin (originally from Winnipeg) has been living in B.C for the past 10 - 12 years or so. He encountered a bear while out on a regular trail walk in the Tri-Cities about 30 mins outside of downtown Vancouver. It walked out into the path ahead of him. Hearing him recount the story was pretty funny. Essentially the following - oh fuck / frozen in place / do I make eye contact or avoid that? / do I holler and make noise or stay silent? / as soon as it turns or heads back into the bushes I'm running like hell in the other direction. End of story - he ran like hell once it was safe to do so, lol. May or may not have been incontinent prior to that.
