Man, it's almost night and day on defense. Our DL basically played against arguably the best offensive line in football and out played them. Free had no answer for jpp. And Vernon was beastly against the run and pass.

Great game. We still have some work to do but our defense is looking stellar and to think they have even jellied into a cohesive unit yet. Our o-line & running game still scares me though
Our D-line is official. I really like Casillas. Need more from any other LB. D-backs were effective and tackled very well. Burhe played well, but you saw flashes from Thompson on the few plays he was inserted that I'm excited about seeing him as the #1. Great great game by the O-line (or Dallas' weak ass D made it look that way).

Yeah man.. I'm hoping soft ass Beatty can get up to game speed and replace Newhouse. That would be an instant upgrade on the right side. For as much grief as I give Jerry, he made a couple solid blocks in the run game and that holding call was suspect as fuck.
Eli needs this line to just be solid and he can do work..
Next up is the Saints. Hope our defense is ready for a real test cuz Drew Brees is looking like he's on a mission to prove he got plenty left in the tank
Yeah, last time was a shootout. Don't think it will be the same this time around. Saints play a lot different away from the dome. Plus their top cb, Breaux, broke a leg. Giants will feast if the oline holds up.

Last year was a shootout. I don't expect that to be the case this year. Our defense is WAYYYY better. Pass coverage and pass rush look good so far. However, we're up against drew breesus. The fastest release in football. The defensive front has to get pressure. We can't afford to send extra blitzers at Beesus because 1) he'll dissect it and 2) their WR don't scare me but I'd rather avoid 1 on 1s. Also TE coverage needs to tighten up.
On offense , the Saints defense doesn't scare me. Oakland hung 30+ points on them. Their best corner is out for an extended period of time. Their secondary is very green. The Giants have to set the tone. I understand run pass balance but you have to take advantage against an opponent's weakness. ODB, Shep, and Cruz should put up numbers.
I don't see this one as close especially since the saints typically don't play as well away from the Superdome.

Problem with the Saints vs other teams is how Brees spreads the ball around. I have a feeling we'll have to use more zone schemes than man on man to cover all their threats but Brees carves those up consistently. Our offense will be a lot for them to handle too. I expect to see OBJ go off and create more opportunities for Cruz & Shephard to feast as well. Game will come down to how much pressure we can get on Brees to keep him from attacking and exhausting our secondary.
