**Official 2014 FIFA World Cup Thread**

Watching this sport for really the first time...I am shocked there are not more ACLs.

From the hits they take to the legs, the way the knees bend at times...I would think the number would be on an NFL level.

Maybe because they only play on grass and typically they wet the grass before games. That's the only thing I could imagine that accounts for it.

It does happen.

Falcao was the most notable victim, missing this World Cup, but I think the high impact play of the NFL has a lot to do with it.

Lets just say I'd rather Messi fall over on my leg, before Julius Peppers if you know what I'm mean.

Lol these smaller teams are full of idiots. Why would the Swiss midfielder be dribbling the ball against Argentina in his own half with one minute left. Pure stupidity on the Swiss.

good

that's what switzerland gets

they were playing for penalty kicks and then argentina scores

suddenly they get super close to getting goals with 1 minute left

why not do that the entire extra time?

good

go home

You notice a trend here? the team that goes "prevent-defense" style at the end of matches is losing every single time.

Argentina's two best players showed up at the end.

My brother-in-law, cousins, nephews and nieces must have been shitting themselves. I know I was.

The Swiss had this. The idiot that lost the ball in the midfield was responsible for the goal. That's why these small teams end up loosing. Making stupid mistakes.

Algeria gave it away at the end. Mexico gave it away at the end. The Swiss just gave it away. Nigeria too. It's obviously not a talent issue... the underdogs are just finding ways to give the game away right at the very end. It's like a couple of minutes before regulation is over or extra period time is expiring they get just relaxed enough on defense to give away an easy goal.. every.fucking.game :smh:

Every single fucking time.

You play to win every minute of the game and that's the only way to advance.

The only team to lose so far playing to win was Mexico and that was in penalty kicks.

Everyone else that deliberately tried to go to penalties are on flights back home

If the U.S. comes out there and play to not win.. that means scoring and then taking the pressure off.. or having it tied and trying to hold on for penalties..

we deserve what will undoubtedly happen

I get the feeling Klinnsmann has saved his best for last. I get a strong sense we're not bunkering into shit today, and we're gonna take Belgium head on.

Possession has to be at a premium, and if we can take our chances, we'll be ok.

Win or lose though, we have to take the match to em.

I don't care if we get our ass whipped 5-0 if we get it whipped out there trying to attack and go for the victory.

I can live with it if they're just BETTER than us and take it to us.

We need to get bradley ass OUT as soon as he shows he cannot control the midfield

We need more than just dempsey running by himself hoping to get lucky

We need to BUILD and we need to create and string passes together

we need someone ELSE to do those things other than Johnson and my name is earl dude. They need to be allowed to finish the creation and get the goals as opposed to having to win possession take it 60 yards then find a way to get it in the 18 yard box and somehow get scores.

our attack has looked excellent as soon as we put in people with legs and talent.

i hope we do it today

:yes::yes::yes::yes:

I don't think it's gonna be a blowout by any means, but I truly believe this is the match where were gonna stand up and play our football.

2-nil, or 2-1 USA!

Where's that commie bastard Sam Sneed? He gone come in here hollerin' in a minute for us supporting CAC land....

No Kyle Beckerman and his rent-a-dreads in the starting lineup

I'm with Cameron in midfield. He's much better with the ball than defending without it i.e Portugal. :smh:

Hope Besler's hamstring holds up as well.

this lineup looks like a winner

bedoya will be key

Wing play 1v1's are crucial here.

is it possible for jones and zusi to switch?

bedoya and jones setting up dempsey would be killer

I wouldn't take Jones out of central midfield, only because of Maroune Fugazi (Fellaini) and Lukaku. Someone in there has to be the ball winner, and doing most of the dirty work. Cameron will distribute, and Bradley will be higher up the pitch.

Zusi could do it centrally, but I think he'd be overrun over 90 mins from Romelu alone.

That dude is a beast.
