**Official 2014 FIFA World Cup Thread**

I have a question for the soccer/futbol heads.

I was listening to the Chile/Spain game on Sirius and one of the commentators said words to the effect that the difference between World Cup and Club play is that in World play, you are lucky to get 2-3 chances per game whereas in club play, you are likely to get many many more chances per game.

To a certain extent it seems obvious what he was saying, but I would still appreciate a bit more depth as to why it is so from those knowledgeable about the game.

TIA

My interpretation:

With league play, you are will the club on a consistent basis for 8 months. This leads to more cohesion in the play and better reads with your teammate. With the national teams, you have different pieces in with the manager trying to see what works trying (like the US), less time together, etc. So all and all less familiarity with those teammates compared to your club

Plus the league matches tend to be more open since it's not, one bad match and you're fucked....still time to move in the standings so don't have to sit back as much

My interpretation of it.

Looks like Costa Rica holds the English fate

Thank you!

Rewatching this Colombia-Ivory Coast match....James "Don't call me James" Rodriguez

and starting to become a big fan of Cuadrado

I actually thought this was Cuadrado earlier, but turns out it was Zuniga. Still nasty all the same.

Costa Rica messed up my prediction of them beating England. They're gonna field the coach and some Brazilian locals for that shit.:angry:

But looks like the sun finally set on the British Empire.

Big ups to Los Ticos representing the Americas and CONCACAF well.:yes:
