Elite athletes.. difference.
But I'm speaking of the people coming up who grew up playing soccer with the elite athleticism. Meaning they would have been learning the skill since young and got included instead of excluded like they do people who are black and brown.
They're on borrowed time and they know it. that's why donovan was so salty..he thought he was entitled as the best american player ever...by some..which in itself tells you all you need to know.
This dude was trash and never did anything on an international level for a big name club.. he was an ok player at best.. but the best we ever put out there.. and that is about to change.

Elite athletes still have to be good at the game. The sport isn't played enough or popular enough at the level where the U.S.A. could seriously contend for a World Cup final. Even in the next 20 years it wouldn't happen.
Soccer isn't a lifeblood sport here like american football and basketball. We'll know we're a world class soccer nation when our bum soccer players are the equivalent of our bum basketball players who play overseas in Europe or play in the NBDL.

Also sport in America is big money game for advertisers and Tv network. Soccer doesn't have timeouts and commercial breaks like other sports.

Yeah that's why it's on cable mostly. You gotta pay to watch most of the games (NBC Sports Network, ESPN, BeIN Sport, Fox Sports 1, etc.)
But ads are shown on the TV during the game next to the score. I dunno if the networks can make enough money off of those tho.

I don't know if he would fit better, because Messi and Higuain make a pretty good duo. Not to mention he's already used to La Liga.
