~--~Official 2012 NBA Draft/Offseason Thread~--~

Bulls interested in Darko Milicic. Whats so good about that? Well this means that more than likely they wont be wasting money by matching that bs contract for Asik. The signing would be... :hmm: ...but the fact that theyre saving money for future deals is cool with me. As long as those deals are legit.

Even though its obvious that the Bulls aint tryna make major moves this year and play with that tax.....one thing is for sure....Tom Tibbys "great coaching" is really gonna be tested next season. The way this team is looking...tf he can get the Bulls to at least 4th or even 3rd place in the East by years end....then he deserves coty honors imho.

Thanks for that Mirza clip Killa...ya if he plays up to his capabilities over here...we have a decent bench w/ him Brooks and Watson  can't wait for the damn season to begin...it feels good to have a team to root for after 8 years and shit

Bulls sign Vladmir Radmanovic to a 1-year deal, basically Kyle Korver's replacement.

:dunno:

Brooklyn could have Dwight right now if Nets didn't deal an unprotected No. 1 to Portland for Gerald Wallace. That pick, plus a few others and throw-ins would've gotten deal done.

So if a deal does go down, how exactly do you stop Kobe, Pau, Nash and
Dwight Howard? That even would leave the Heat playing three on four.

Bulls lookin like shit on a stick

Bulls realize that with Rose missing next year they ain't competing even for a confernce title. That deal the Rockets gave Asik was as retarded as the one they gave Lin. I am glad the Bulls did not put themselves in cap hell by keeping him. I can live with eurotrash like Vladimir and Darko for cheap on the short term. Besides the Bulls have to resign Taj who is a priority and a keeper. Also Deng will be traded hopefully by the trade deadline. Then we can save our amnesty for Boozer when his deal dwindles down. Bulls will be okay come 2013-2014 and beyond when we retool and have money to spend:yes: I already conceded a Heat repeat. So good day BDR:cool:

I like Gerald Wallace and it was a no. 6 not 1...in any event Orl is bullshitting...so far we offered them the best deal...they just didn't wanna send that nigga to BK since that was his 1st/only choice @ the time

*Edit*

And the pick woulda been protected if it was a top 3/4 I think

JaVale McGee goes from being a goofball with the Wizards to getting
$11M a season with Denver. What a league.

That's what happens when you stop being a klutz and start becoming serious. Teams will pay you based on potential.

I'm okay with the contract. I wanted the Nuggets to actually draft McGee but after his Washington stint, i'm glad they didn't.

If he puts a commitment to reaching his potential and gains some strength, :itsawrap: for the league. Top 3 center easily but for now it's all ifs and I hope he lives up to his contract.

Heat to host a reunion of the top of the 2003 NBA Draft lottery?

Heat among teams looking into Darko Milicic

MIAMI—

Are the Miami Heat about to own almost the entire top of the first round of the 2003 NBA Draft?

Depending on the post-amnesty decision of Minnesota Timberwolves
free-agent center Darko Milicic, it's a possibility.
An amnesty release by the Timberwolves, Milicic is sorting out overtures from the Heat and other teams, his agent said Wednesday.

"We have had some conversation," agent Marc Cornstein told the Sun Sentinel. "We've certainly talked about it."

Yahoo Sports has listed the Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets as front-runners for the journeyman center, but Cornstein said discussions have not gone beyond "fact-finding mode."

Milicic was selected No. 2 in the 2003 NBA Draft, after LeBron James was taken by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Carmelo Anthony then went No. 3 to the Denver Nuggets, Chris Bosh No. 4 to the Toronto Raptors and Dwyane Wade No. 5 to the Heat. James and Bosh since joined Wade in 2010 free agency, teaming to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder in last month's NBA Finals.

Like James, Bosh and Wade, Milicic also has been part of an NBA championship, as a seldom used rookie reserve with the Pistons in 2004.

Still, Cornstein said the Heat's championship couldn't help but factor into the deliberations of the native of Montenegro, who has not appeared in a playoff game since 2007 with the Orlando Magic.

"Absolutely," Cornstein said. "I think any time you have an opportunity or get pursued by a team that's won an NBA title, that's intriguing."

He then cautioned, "In fairness, we've just had really preliminary conversations."

The Heat have only the $1.3 million veteran minimum to offer, but, like Rashard Lewis who signed with the Heat last week after a $14 million buyout from New Orleans Hornets, Milicic would arrive with his $5.2 million 2012-13 salary already guaranteed by the Timberwolves.

"The one thing I would say, when I talked to Darko about this a number of times, and he agrees, I guess the beauty of amnesty is he's already receiving his whole contract by clearing waivers," Cornstein said, with Milicic also holding a 2013-14 guarantee from the Timberwolves. "Money is always a factor, but in this case it really becomes a much smaller factor because, quite frankly, anything he receives is gravy on top of his existing contract."

A player who long has intrigued more because of potential than productivity, Milicic turned 27 in June, despite being on the verge of his 10th NBA season. Listed at 7 feet, Milicic has played for the Pistons, Magic, Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks and Timberwolves.

"He's at a real pivotal point of his career, and this is a very big decision for him, and I think he's taking it as much," Cornstein said, "and I certainly don't think money will be the deciding factor."

While the Heat already have 13 players under guaranteed contract for 2012-13, and while Heat President Pat Riley and coach Erik Spoelstra have downplayed the need for a true center after winning the 2012 championship by playing hybrid lineups that featured Bosh at center, the only centers currently under contract to the Heat are Joel Anthony and Dexter Pittman. The Heat selected Louisiana State center Justin Hamilton in the second round of last month's draft, but he likely will start his pro career overseas.

"I've basically, since he got amnestied, for the last few days been in kind of fact-finding mode and just trying to get all the information I can on all the teams that are interested," Cornstein said. "So I'd say we're at the tail end of that process and just getting back to Darko with all the information, so he can make an informed decision."

After reading this i think they should pursue Darko hard, along ryan Hollins. They only problwm is the switching defensive schemes that are ran with Miama, a true seven footer would get exposed often along with pick and roll defenses.

Heat ain't repeating. Especially if the Lakers get Dwight.

I think there's a few teams that improved greatly in the east but
What Dwight brings that will get them past the Thunder, that they didnt have last year???

James White doesn't want anyone to overlook him as a potential rotation player to fill that wing position behind J.R. Smith while Iman Shumpert recovers from his knee surgery. In my interview with him on MSG Network after Tuesday's summer league game, White said his goal going into training camp was to earn that spot by proving he can be an effective defender and role player. White, a former high school phenom who has spent the last few years in Europe after some failed stints in the NBA, seems enthusiastic to embrace this role and finally establish himself as an NBA player. "Definitely, especially on the defensive end," White said. "I'm a veteran now, I pretty much understand the game now. That's the key for me getting on the court is defense. So that's what I'm going to focus on, playing defense and let the other stuff fall where it may."

If his skill set has atleast leveled with his athletic ability he could be what Gerald Green was for the Nets last year

It's not just Dwight, but adding Nash as well.

Dwight will provide better post defense. Nash will move the ball better and he's a more capable shooter. Kobe will continue to be Kobe.

And now that you mention it, OKC will be better and more experienced as well. Too early to concede the league to the Heat right now even with Ray and Ray.

Mario/Norris
Dwayne/Ray
Lebron/Shane/Mike/James
Chris/UD/Rashard
Joel/Thomas/

Terrell Harris and Darko Milicic/Ryan Hollins would round this squad out nicely

hmmmm. So getting Dwight makes the Lakers more athletic than the Thunders? Nash, Kobe, Jamison are still past their primes. They didn't get any younger this year. And you still have Mike Brown as your coach. Bynum is a better center offensively than Dwight. Dwight will only bring defense in the paint... but the Thunders are a jump shooting team. So what were you saying again?

I think the heat will stick with the original starting lineup from the p/o....

Rio
Wade
Bron
UD
Bosh

The beautiful thing about the heat roster is that multiple players on the team can play multiple positions. They are very versatile and can adapt their line up to most situations. If they had a productive 7 footer off the bench, then they could match all situations.

Them shots don't always fall and when they don't they have to go inside against Dwight and that's a losing battle for them.

But don't worry about the West just yet, when you got the Celtics, Brooklyn, Pacers, and maybe the Knicks to worry about. Then worry about the Lakers, Thunder, Spurs, etc.

Shit won't be a cakewalk like you think and y'all better hope the injury bug don't bite.

ok thought so, Nash is the bigger signing...I think you gain and you lose with getting Dwight. Gain defense but lose offensive skill at that center spot.

I think the Heat defense was the problem for OKC, at key times.

Darko would fill that void as a seven footer that can hoop, shit I'm looking to start him tho, so if that the case, we need both Darko and Hollins. This would be a fucking deep talented team, that would be able to withstand a injury or two.

If Dwight Howard ends up with Lakers, should note last 4 coveted big men
they acquired combined for 11 rings. That's Wilt Chamberlain (one),
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (five), Shaquille O'Neal (three) and Pau Gasol (two).
