~--~Official 2012 NBA Draft/Offseason Thread~--~

Out of all of the players who went to China during the lockout, only Wilson Chandler made out in his re-signing. Kenyon Martin, JR Smith, Aaron Brooks are all making way less than they should.

Actually Wilson was looking at even more money than what he got. The Nuggets had to threaten benching him for the rest of the season to convince him to re-sign with them.

boy, the knicks just get more likable by the day. replaced nice young intellectual w/ wife batterer/drunk driver.

At first it was a good signing, and Lin could learn from him, now some of them keep doing this shit.

Wilson got injured before the ink dried on his new contract.:smh:

Still my dude but we needed him against the Lakers.

Don't the Kings have enough perimeter players who are all about going for self and scoring? Why get another one?
most likely putting pieces together for a trade or its the end of the jimmer frederette project..that bitch nigga aint shown shit so far...not even in the summer league :smh:

I was thinking the same exact thing

Maybe they can play Brooks and Thomas at the same time

If I were Brooks I would have waited for another team.

Bulls are saving money this year. No Rose why should they spend money?

I understand that. After next year they plan to have even more money. From what I heard the plan is to free up as much money as possible...amnesty Boozer in his last year....get Deng off the books....pay Taj and then go after legit players in future free agency.

Losing Asik would really hurt our defense.....but that price is too high. I guess they can always use him as trade bait in the future. He's already a great defender...who knows how he'll be in 1-2 years. Remember last off season the Bulls staff couldnt really work with him due to the lock out...hence he really didnt improve much offensively or defensively from the previous year.

Like I stated...Bulls fans just have to have patience and HOPE that the sign the right players.

i'll bite

whats in 2014?

A lot of things due to the extra cash that we'll have.
Also.... the next Euro superstar Center/PF....Nikola Mirotic.

Free agent Grant Hill has reached agreement on a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources tells Y!

Free agent Antawn Jamison to talk to @Lakers Tuesday, source said. Vet forward excited to play with Kobe & Nash, but still awaiting offer.

Brooklyn locked up Brook Lopez to an extension, traded for Reggie Evans and today the news came down of Kris Humphries' two-year deal to remain with the team.

While a deal couldn't be worked out to acquire Dwight Howard, the Nets have shelled out the cash to secure what's arguably one of the top frontcourts in the league. And according to David Aldridge of NBA.com/TNT, they aren't done.

Aldridge reports today that Brooklyn is looking to round out its roster with one more big man, and is targeting either Ryan Hollins or Nazr Mohammed as backup for Lopez.

Andre blatche amnesty by the Wizards.

He could be a good pickup for a playoff team with veterans to keep himin check and teach him. He's only 25 too:yes:

Lowry Sets Goal To Join Top Tier Of Point Guards
Jul 17, 2012 11:08 PM EDT

Kyle Lowry is ready to join the elite level of NBA point guards.
“I think I’ve broken into that second tier a little bit better than people expected me to and I’m trying to break into that first tier,” Lowry said Tuesday after being formally introduced as a Raptor.

“It’s going to be tough but I’m going to work myself to the point where I’m going to be in that first tier.”
Lowry expects Toronto to take several steps forward next season.
“It’ll be a good team, a playoff team,” he said. “I think we’ll be a team that’ll run a little bit more, we’ll have a little bit more toughness on defence. We’ll be more defensive-minded, get stops and we’re going to run.”

Hollins brings that energy that the Nets need defensively and on the boards. Would be a good pickup

Mike Miller to return to Heat

MM62112.jpg

HIALEAH, Fla. -- Mike Miller believes his balky back can improve without surgery, and he's planning to help the NBA champion Miami Heat defend their crown next season.

Miller limped through much of this past season, his back pain so severe at times that he couldn't even sit on the Heat bench during games. He has been consulting with Miami neurosurgeon Dr. Barth Green throughout this offseason, and the expectation now is that a combination of rest and rehabilitation should be enough to get him ready to play again.

"No retirement," Miller said Tuesday.

Miller made an appearance for about 600 children at a basketball camp he sponsored, walking in to roars from the kids and chants of his last name. And when told that Hialeah, a city just north of Miami, believes it was the epicenter of the biggest party to celebrate the Heat championship, Miller tipped his hand as to his future plans.

"Then let's party again next year," Miller said.

Miller was 7 of 8 from 3-point range in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against Oklahoma City, helping the Heat clinch the franchise's second championship.

Miller has three years remaining on his contract with the Heat, but considered retiring after two injury-filled seasons in Miami. An array of thumb, wrist and shoulder injuries plagued him in the 2010-11 season, and this past year was marred as well, first by offseason hernia surgery, the issue with a disk in his back, and a sprained ankle.

If back surgery was needed, Miller might have been sidelined for months and said that would have prompted him to lean toward retirement.

"The plan is to avoid surgery," Miller said. "We're doing everything we can. The doctor says it looks fantastic. So we're going to continue to go in that direction, continue to rehab it, see how it goes."

Miller is scheduled to visit Green again Wednesday to discuss more rehab plans. Green is widely considered one of the world's top surgeons, and Miller said it was somewhat frightening to have to see him and essentially decide his basketball future.

"I was nervous. There's no question about it," Miller said. "But you know what? People that are the best at what they do also know how to do alternatives and what it takes to prevent having surgery. That's what I liked about him from the get-go. Even though he's known for being the best as a surgeon, he was trying to avoid it, which is a credit to him."

Miller wants to be ready for training camp, though he suggested that if his body isn't ready by then, he will not force the issue.

Adding two other shooters in Ray Allen -- the NBA's all-time leader in 3-pointers made -- and Rashard Lewis certainly figures to make life a bit easier for Miller, if for no other reason than the Heat should have plenty of options from the outside. Miller said he couldn't believe Heat president Pat Riley, managing general partner Micky Arison and CEO Nick Arison managed to get Allen and Lewis to sign relatively low-number contracts with the Heat.

"You're not just adding two more shooters, you're adding the best shooter of all time when it comes to makes, and then Rashard Lewis is right up there, too," Miller said. "The Arison family and Pat continue to do an unbelievable job. ... This is a special organization to be a part of. It starts from the top and goes down and whenever you've got players who take less money that means you're doing something right."

Miller made 45 percent of his attempts from 3-point range this season, averaging 6.1 points in 39 games. It's been a whirlwind summer -- "everything changes as a champion," Miller said -- with promotional appearances and plans to be involved in the release of an energy drink called Let It Fly on Aug. 10, but he's sounding confident in the plan to be able to play again.

"Rest is the whole thing," Miller said. "The inflammation gets out of there, the pain goes down, now it's about strengthening it and sustaining."

YO!!!!!!!

I'm really diggin GM Masai Ujiri. Making all the right moves.

:itswrap: Keep sleeping on the Nuggets if you want to.

Humphries is making way too much money, but the owner has it and it's only two years. They can trade him next year. Not a big commitment.

Amnestying Blatche was a smart move. You can tell what type of player he is when Washington couldn't give him away. Every seven footer who could walk straight and chew gum at the same time gets over ten million a year. They couldn't trade him for a salary on average around 7.5.

he led the league at his position in double doubles. He is among the top 3 in rebounding.

12 million a year just for two years and next year he is expiring. sounds great to me.

Now if it would have been a 4 year deal:puke::puke::puke:

Nazr Mohammed is close to signing with the Brooklyn Nets, according to source. He’ll likely sign for the veteran’s minimum in next 24 hours

Nets roster only has one more spot open. So far I'm happy

PG Deron Williams – (CJ Watson)
SG Joe Johnson – (Marshon Brooks)
SF Gerald Wallace – (Toko Shengelia)
PF Kris Humphries – (Mirza Teletovic)
C Brook Lopez – (Nazr Mohammed)

1/2 – Ty Taylor
2/3 – Keith Bogans
2/3 – Jerry Stackhouse
4/5 – Reggie Evans

Mirza coming off the bench with Brook and Watson is going to be instant offense. Thing will be defense.

we really need to see these jerseys

that's Mirza. He led the euroleague in scoring and came cheap which shocked everyone!!!!!!!!

the game against memphis grizz
:eek::eek::eek:

the original plan was for him to start with Dwight. Think Ryan Anderson but better. He doesn't go well with Lopez but with the second unit. Nets will have no problem scoring

Source: Lakers add Antawn Jamison
Updated: July 18, 2012, 5:59 PM ET
By Dave McMenamin | ESPNLosAngeles.com

Veteran forward Antawn Jamison will sign a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to a league source.

Jamison, 36, averaged 17.2 points and 6.3 rebounds last year for Cleveland in his 14th season in the league, but he shot a career-low 40.3 percent from the field.

He was acquired by the Cavaliers via trade in 2009-10, the last season Lakers coach Mike Brown was at the helm for the Cavs.

The Lakers were in competition with several other teams for Jamison's services, including Brooklyn, Golden State and Charlotte.
