~--~Official 2012 NBA Draft/Offseason Thread~--~

Did they say they weren't matching? Or are you assuming?

they are saying that. I don't believe it until I see an official statement. still as DA said this trade was done to save money. they traded contracts.

If they were keeping both they would have just sign felton out right and match Lin's OS

I hope the Knicks do get Felton back...he shouldn't have been traded...I liked his game in NY...it took y'all a while to dump the trash Denver unloaded on y'all...it'd be nice to get Ray back...if the Nets are still in contention to land Dwight by the trade deadline I hope we don't make the same mistake and panic like Dolan did...Melo/Knicks were in control of that scenario but gave up too much imo...

I got to see them say it first before I believe it. Lin makes a lot of money and they have been saying that they would pay it even after it came out. This move might of been to improve their team and fuck the rockets over.

They are saying Felton was promise he would start.

Also that if the Knicks don't match it's because Lin doesn't want to play in New York.

don't be so sure knicks rn't matching Lin.. they needed another sg... Shump is out until least January... adding felton allows the knicks 2 have Kidd at SG in spurts with a capable ball handler in at all times...I like getting Kurt back... Knicks are gonna be tough as nails with all these vets...

I told delusional snick fans from jump street Lin ain't coming back...

IF this is true, and the Knicks don't match Lin and go with Felton, then in a way that makes the signing of JKidd :hmm: , because wasn't the whole purpose of signing him to mentor Lin?

lol at kurt thomas and camby coming back home..Knicks officially got the oldest team in the league...

I want to laugh at this shit, but I'm still so emotionally fucked up over the Kwame Brown signing that I can't bring myself to do it... I'll be back heckling soon enough though, after the therapy kicks in...

more details coming out

After all that they'd match up to a "billion" talk and assurances from Woodson it would be disappointing for the Knicks to not match...and watch Lin blow up in Houston :smh: this is why I can't fuck w/ the Knicks...every time they have a semblance of a team Dolan's decisions fucks up the chemistry/makeup of the team

IMHO...smart move to get Felton instead of paying Lin that dumb contract.

Now you guys just have to keep Felton away from the buffet table...he looks like he gets fatter every year.

I also got a question...why don't the Knicks try and get Mayo or Lee? Are you really comfortable with Smith starting...and I know every Knicks fan loves Shumpert, 2 things about the ACL stuff. One, while a player can come back and start playing in about a year, they normally don't fully recover to their old selves until year 2. And second, ACL injuries in basketball seem to be even more devastating than in football...particularly those who rely on athleticism (like Shumpert and Rose). They hopefully will fully recover, but it's also not a sure thing. If I were them, I'd have looked into getting another 2 that can start.

Jon Dieber and Victor Claver or Joel Freeland to the knicks... NICE... Win now and everyones deal is up in 3 years and bring in the youth from Europe...interesting way to construct a team... if they do bring Lin back it'd be interesting

Portland had been talking to both Claver and Freeland about coming over this year. Is it confirmed that the Knicks will keep them overseas?

Karnes on Watson choosing the Nets: "In the end, Deron had called C.J., Avery had called him … he felt like there was a big hole to fill. "He’s used to a big market, he’s used to playing for a contender, he’s used to pressure and really looks forward to contributing."

Korver, now Watson (but I had a feeling that these two players were leaving.)
Next will be Brewer (but Butler is a great replacement) and I hope the next player to leave is Asik. Id be higly pissed if the Bulls match that bs contract offer from the Rockets.

Its funny how one player being injured takes you from being one of the top teams in the NBA to a team thats basically rebuilding.

:smh:

I had patience with MJ/Da Bulls....gotta have have patience with DRose/Da Bulls as well. Its cool though...my Bears will win the SB this year and keep the Chi calm until the Bulls get their shit together.

Bulls shopping Rip Hamilton?

Eight months ago, Rip Hamilton was going to be the difference maker for the Bulls. He would be the scoring guard that provided them with the offense they needed to put the whole package together. It was all set.

Then everything fell apart. Hamilton was rarely healthy during the regular season, and just when he got back and the Bulls were ready for the playoff run… well, you know what happened. Derrick Rose went down, the Bulls were eliminated, and now all of a sudden they’re retooling. They may not match on Omer Asik. They traded Kyle Korver to Atlanta (in principle). They let C.J. Watson go. They may let John Lucas III go.

And now they may ditch Rip Hamilton.
From the Chicago Tribune:

Along these lines, league sources said the Bulls have shopped Richard Hamilton’s expiring $5 million deal, which carries a mere $1 million guarantee for 2013-14. Thus far, there have been no takers.

Hamilton’s contract has value, he has value as a player, and while he hasn’t gotten offers yet, closer to the deadline he likely will.

But this is yet another sign the Bulls are deconstructing.

After building a championship contender in 2010, an Eastern Conference Finals appearance, and winning the top seed in the East two years in a row, they’re blowing it up. This is the new NBA. Derrick Rose, Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer, and Joakim Noah with a great defense and excellent bench isn’t good enough. Especially when your owner hates paying the luxury tax.

The Bulls era may be ending before it ever began.

Brewer is already gone. Most reports seem to think that they are going to match the offer sheet to Asik which I don't get. Allegedly it's because they're worried about Noah's health.
Reinsdorf is cheap and he isn't going to pay the luxury tax this year when he knows they aren't going to win a title. I still think that they should have kept Watson.
What they're doing right now just confuses me more as to why they didn't acquire a 2nd pick and get a guy like Lamb or Barton who by all indications they liked but didn't take because Teague dropped to them.

Don't worry though Leon Powe is on our summer league team.
