~--~Official 2012 NBA Draft/Offseason Thread~--~

I think people are starting to overrate shumpert

I feel like he was being overrated last summer when the videos were coming out of him playing in Vegas and people thought that he was the future PG of the Knicks. People now know what you're gonna get from him. Great defene, scoring ability with some handle but by no means at PG who is going to take some bad shots and is very athletic.

Snick fans super moist for cp3

It's that bad huh?

I think Bradley from Boston is a better defender than Shump IMO

I really think that that is a legit argument. Thing is that while Bradley has been in the league he is younger than Shump. But Shump is the better athlete of the two and is bigger. Avery is an undersized 2 guard while Shump is 6'6" 220 so he can pretty much guard 3 positions.

Avery = Thabo
Shump = T Allen

Skill wise

Also Hahn says the Knicks aren't budging on Shump but if the suns want Landry for about 4 million they might do the trade just because honestly the suns can offer him that anyhow and the Knicks would be unlikely to match.

 deron ain't a drama queen don't lump him. he's been straight up the entire time.

dwight is going to be fine once someone makes up his mind for him. he doesn't want to be in a position of power.

Man Deron was on a contender in Utah and bitched to be traded to the worst team in the East. He's a drama queen. He loves this shit. Going golfing with Jason Kidd. Doesn't get along with Avery Johnson but invites him to his birthday party. Fuck this shit. NBA is pussy and full of unwanted drama.

With Boozer gone? Really? Come on man.

When they traded him they weren't a contender anymore. He was going to leave as a free agent and rather than go through what Denver and Orlando have/had gone thru they traded him earlier for what they felt like was good value. He didn't asked to be traded to the Nets. They happened to have a PG who could take his spot and some young pieces like Derrick Favors. Hell nobody saw that trade coming. And it seems like alot of players don't get along with Avery Johnson.

This nigga played with Milsap, Al Jefferson and Kirlenko. He went from that shit to being in New Jersey with Brooks and a injured Brook Lopez. UTah was contending. I get that he doesn't want to play in Utah. I can understand that. But this nigga doesn't give a shit about playing for a contender. He's over here trying to be hollywood and play in New York and a big market team. Now CP is doing his same old bullshit. Fuck these niggas. I'm trying to figure out where the NBA went wrong for niggas to think they can get away with this type of shit. I guess it started with Lebron.

utah was not no damn contender
they were ok... they went to the playoffs and the rest of the team bitched up and they lost to the lakers or whoever else every year. that's why he wanted out of there.

The New Orleans Hornets have waived Rashard Lewis, a move they’ve been expected to make since acquiring the 14-year veteran forward in a trade with Washington.

The Wizards had sent Lewis and the 46th overall pick in this year’s NBA draft to New Orleans on June 20 in exchange for forward Trevor Ariza and center Emeka Okafor.

Lewis was entering the final year of a $118 million, six-year contract, which included a $13.7 million buyout provision for the last year of the deal.

Naw Jazz was contending until Deron started acting bitch and made one of the best coaches in BASKETBALL quit. Let's call it what it is. Deron been showing some bitch tendencies for the past 3 years. Jazz were 31-23 when Sloan quit and that was after going on a losing streak. Deron got traded for how he started to act and I for one was glad he got traded to a loser. I wish we'd send all dudes who cry and shit to losers and let them see how bad they really have it.

stop it bruh the people on that team came up short every year in the playoffs including the people you mentioned especially ak....

Sounds like the Mavericks every year. But that shows the difference between a Dirk and a Deron. So if you're team continues to get kicked out of the post season you decide to get traded to a worse conference and a WORSE team?

They were 31-26 when they traded Williams to the Nets. 5 games over .500. That is not contending. That is middle of the road status. They weren't a contender. The Hawks had a better record, Portland had a better record, the Grizzlies who were the #8 seed in the Western Conference that year even had a better record at that point.

They were 31-26 because Deron wasn't play well and the team wasn't playing well under Corbin. When Jerry Sloan was there and before Management and Deron ran him out of town they were 31-23. They were a playoff team. Rather they would win or not I don't know but that's beside the point. If they were underachieving they were doing it as a team. Either way you can't sit here and tell me he thought he was going to have similar success even in a inferior Eastern Conference.

Corbin had coached 3 games and Williams was averaging over 20 points and around 10 assists a game. They made the move proactively so that he didn't leave with them getting anything in return. They turned him into players and another lottery pick. They got assets in return for their asset without any playing out in the public that netted them pennies on the dollar for Williams instead of full value. His situation and Dwight Howard's situation is very different.

But I get it. They should have kept the team as it was and at best finished as the 6th seed so that the Mavs could have whooped their ass in the first round or maybe the Lakers or maybe even the Spurs. And then he could leave this year as a free agent and they'd be ass out with only Millsap and Jefferson as good players on their roster.

Nah man you can't do that, yall been praying for dude all year long, he isn't a drama queen, he made his clear decisions and made his moves, he didn't hold anybody hostage, didn't flip flop his intentions have been clear... you might not like them but they have been on the table and up front.

He got out of Utah because he didn't want to be there... the team wasn't a contender and the organization wasn't good enough to him to want him to go elsewhere...

Comparing the owner of the Jazz to the owner of the mavs isn't even remotely fair.

All the perks and shit Cuban does for his players that other owners don't do....who wouldn't want to stay there?

And Dirk had made it to the finals before... and been a #1 seed in the playoffs with more talent around him than Deron so there was always hope they could put it together...

Totally different situation

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8...-offer-steve-nash-3-year-36m-deal-sources-say

The Toronto Raptors have offered free agent point guard Steve Nash a three-year, $36 million contract, according to sources.

Nash, a two-time NBA MVP, has spent the past eight seasons with the Phoenix Suns, but has made it a point in recent interviews to stress that he's "open to everything" and says he'll listen to any team that calls.

However, industry sources monitoring the free-agent market have identified Toronto as one of four teams that pose the greatest danger to the Suns in terms of signing Nash away, including the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets.

It has been widely anticipated that Phoenix would offer him a new two-year deal worth at least $20 million, but it remains to be seen how far Suns owner Robert Sarver will go when the bids start coming in.

The Arizona Republic reported Friday night that the Suns "do not appear willing to meet (Nash's) wish for a three-year deal" and Suns officials are already fighting the perception that they selected North Carolina point guard Kendall Marshall with the 13th pick in Thursday night's draft as the first step in dealing with Nash's eventual departure.

Nash earned nearly $12 million last season and averaged 12.5 points and 10.7 assists for a team that, with no 20-point scorer, nearly snagged the last playoff spot in the West.

That DIrk championship team from 06? Man the majority of those niggas aren't even in the league anymore. Only cat that's relevant is JET and Devin Harris. Rest of them dudes are either retired or getting no burn somewhere else.

And btw, I want Deron. I'll take him. He's a drama queen. I get it. I don't even care that he's a drama queen. I'd still take him. But I can acknowledge the type of player he is. The Mavs have put themselves in a situation to where we can't do any better. Our superstar is aging and we have no youth to develop.

I'm not comparing anything. You said the JAZZ, not management were getting kicked out every year. The Mavs were getting kicked out every year in the 1st and 2nd round with the exception of a few years. I already can't wait until this offseason is over with.

Whoa you are getting ahead of yourself. I'm not blaming the Jazz for shit. They did what they had to do. If Deron wanted to play for them he would still be there. No questions asked. I'm speaking on Deron Williams. Jazz got a decent deal for a player who already TOLD everyone that he wouldn't return so in returning hurting his trade value. And I don't know if the Mavs would've whooped their ass. Jazz were a good team this year just missed out due to the West being so deep.

That Heat team is suspect when you look at it. Declining versions of Zo and Gary Payton.White Chocolate, Derrick and Shandon Anderson.

You said they were a contender which they weren't. At best they've would've barely made the playoffs to in all likelihood get slaughtered. As for Williams there was no public declaration on his part. There teams in the league trying to make moves like the Mavs trying to make moves so that they could have a shot at him but he didn't do anything to reduce his trade value. Kevin O'Connor just decided to be proactive.

Houston wants to give Asik 8 million. Let him walk Pax, Asik is not worth 8 million a year:smh:. Taj needs to be resigned and Asik walking will make that possible. We need to look at a journeyman C to back up Noah. I still want to see the Bulls move either or both of Deng's and Boozer's contracts somehow.

Yeah...keeping taj is a must imho. They said on ESPN this morning that the Rockets GM..or whoever he is...was all on twitter and the whole 9 asking fans to convince Asik to come to the Rockets. The Blazers are also interested. They say the Rockets or Portland offered Hibbert a Max contract. The Pacers will more than likely match that and keep him. Hence they wil go extra hard for Asik. So Asik is gone. Asik has some nice defense...but thats about it. I know for a fact the Bulls aint about to pay 8+ million for a fucking center thats coming off the bench, cant catch a basketball and always keeps the ball by his knees. Asik will have a nice future..just not in Chicago.

They were talking about how the Bulls can utilize that luxury tax and sign a big named player this year in fa..but ask yourself...is there really a player in FA that would be wiling to come to Chicago/is worth utilizing that tax for? I know a lot of folks went into panic mode after Derrick went down.....but Derrick is only 23...we stil got time to fix the team. They need to be strategic/smart with who they sign. No need to rush and sign any ol player. We did that with Boozer after we lost out on Bosh and LBJ...and you see how that went.

Per Gar...the Bulls wil sign a few "cheap" fa's this month....but after that I think we should just roll with what we got (unless we can get a nice trade offer before the deadline early next year) and just wait for the next off season. Amnesty Boozer...get Deng off the books...then we'll probably have somewhere around 30 mill to play around with during the next off season. Next years FA's look better anyways.

On another note.....the moves that Boston is making (by keeping their big 3) can turn out to be great moves if they build a nice young team around them in the up and coming years; through the drafts, d leagues and free agency..a la the Spurs. More than likely KG and Ray wil retire after their next contracts are up. Theyll be used to mentor Bostons new young players.

Yea that's exactly when it started and that's what i'm saying. Lebron atelast proved to act the way he does. He took the bum ass Cavs to the Finals. Even in the East that's a nice feat. I get it from Lebron. Even Dwayne Wade. But niggas like CP and Deron? They need to sit in a corner and behave.

Okay well let me stop saying contender. I call a team who makes the playoffs a contender. I'll just call them a playoff team rather than contender. And the Heat were somewhat suspect but Dwayne Wade was MJ-like in that series. Even with the bullshit refs calls. They called on him and he answered. And Alonzo was a BEAST as a backup. They would sit Shaq on the bench and Alonzo would come in and they'd be even better defensively.

In regards to Deron maybe its rumors I been hearing so I can say maybe that's my fault but i've always heard about him and Dwight wanting to play together. That shit is weak to me. I'm sorry. When did you start wanting to play with the competition? That's your competitor. I know they probably friends off court but man even my best friend i'd want to hoop against him and do him in. I just don't get the mindframe of these cats. I get it from Dirk. I get it from KG. I even got it from Brandon Roy and I hate his career got hit with those injuries. But some of these entitled superstars man I just can't rock with them.

The management is a part of the Jazz aren't they?

Yea they are but i'm not referring to the management side. I'm referring to the product they were throwing out there on the court and they were making the post season more times than not with Deron and Sloan. I think I read some crazy shit where Sloan nearly had the Jazz in the post season every season for the past 20 seasons.

Maybe,but....they got a better shot than the Bulls do:lol:

The Big 3 era least got a title...what has the Derek Rose era got??

A copy of x-rays?....

i pray the god yall win the ship this year without rose.

.

To me while the Lebron thing is what all of these NBA are emulating it started from elsewhere. It started with AAU ball. Back in the day guys like Jordan, Magic, Bird, etc. didn't cross paths til the McDonald's Game at the earliest unless they were from the same town. And even then they didn't see each other more than 2 or 3 times a year as competitors so that buddy shit didn't fly like that. It was more of this muthafucka is on my level but I'm going to show him I'm better. That's not the case anymore. Kevin Love who is from Oregon was on Bill Simmons' podcast and said that he's known Mike Beasley since they were 12. These cats are meeting up as kids and then the way the AAU system is built bouncing from team to team as they please simply because they get more coddled here or there's another star on this team. Dwight Howard played AAU with 3 other guys who made the league. He's said that if he went to college he would have gone to UNC the team that at the time had Marvin Williams, Ray Felton, Sean May and Rashad McCants, etc. So it's no surprise that he's pulling this shit now trying to join up with another star.
