Where Does Kevin Garnett's Future Lie?

146084830_display_image.jpg

For Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett, the future is questionable. Does he retire, does he get traded or does he stay in Boston?
Chances are the Big 4 of Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo won't be together for much longer.

The former Minnesota Timberwolves star player might even end up with the Lakers believe it or not.
It appears him or Ray Allen might be in the works to be on the same side with Kobe Bryant and company.

Imagine that scenario. Garnett is a guy that is still capable of shooting very well, as shown throughout the playoffs.
He has the experience with a championship with Boston, and could really do wonders for head coach Mike Brown and the Lakers.

Dwight Howard Wants to Go

142153966_display_image.jpg

t's no surprise that Dwight Howard wants out. The Orlando Magic center
has been a key part of the success of the team, including a NBA Finals
appearance a few years ago.

However, it's clear he wants out. Where a trade may take place
is still up in the air. There has been talk of Howard to the
Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks.

A possible scenario could see Howard go to the Lakers for a guy
like Pau Gasol or Andrew Bynum. The Nets would have to give up a
lot for Howard, and Dallas may have to give up some key pieces as well.

Howard has proved his dominance each season, but he will need to be fully
committed to winning to have success on these teams. If he lands with the
Lakers or Mavs, he won't be the main superstar.

The whole scenario of Howard in Orlando has been dysfunctional to say the least.
First, the Magic part ways with head coach Stan Van Gundy.
Now, the organization will bank on Howard attempting to stay.

It doesn't appear Howard was very happy with being in Orlando. It's almost
certain he won't be enjoying the nice weather of Florida for much longer.

Ray Allen Could Be in Los Angeles

145931264_display_image.jpg

Ray Allen is one of the best shooters in the NBA. There's no denying that.
Is he the Allen from the Seattle Sonics days? It would
be difficult to say that. Age has caught up to Allen, but that doesn't mean he can't be effective.

Similar to Garnett, Allen may end up heading to the Lakers.
If this ends up true, Allen could have a starting position,
but also could be a solid player to add to the bench.

He adds depth, and is still as difficult a cover as anyone in the league.

Pau Gasol Could Be the One to Go in Los Angeles

144831032_display_image.jpg

If the Lakers are to deal anyone for another superstar such as Allen or Garnett, it will most likely be center Pau Gasol. The Spaniard was ineffective in the playoffs, and he appeared to be on the hot seat after the series against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Gasol has been consistent in figures such as points and rebounds, but has fell in field goal percentage with the Lakers. He was a key part of the championship won against the Celtics, but has seemed to lost his ability to play in big games along with Andrew Bynum.

If the Lakers are looking to add depth, look for Gasol to be the one to be traded.

Apparently, the Lakers are looking to deal Gasol immediately.

just moving this here...

Hornets trade Okafor and Ariza to the Wizards for Rashard Lewis and the #46 pick in the draft.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/80...ard-lewis-pick

Emeka Okafor traded to Wizards

The Washington Wizards have reached an agreement with the New Orleans Hornets on a trade to acquire Hornets center Emeka Okafor.

The Wizards will get Okafor and Hornets forward Trevor Ariza for Rashard Lewis and Washington's No. 46 pick in next week's draft.

The trade will add two defensive specialists to Washington's roster as the Wizards continue to try to change their culture around prized young guard John Wall. Okafor thus joins Nene to give Washington two veteran big men after the Brazilian was acquired at midseason from Denver in a deal that brought an end to JaVale McGee's stay in the nation's capital.

Okafor has never lived up to being the second pick in the 2004 draft. He averaged a career-low 9.9 points and 7.9 rebounds last season, missing time with a sore left knee. Ariza averaged 10.8 points and 5.2 rebounds.

The move, meanwhile, sheds two long-term contracts from the Hornets' payroll while opening up minutes, through Okafor's departure, for Kentucky star Anthony Davis, who almost assuredly will be selected No. 1 overall by New Orleans in next Thursday's draft.

The Hornets, sources say, are planning to waive Lewis before July 1 to slice roughly $10 million off the $24 million that he is owed in 2012-13. He is entering the last season of a six-year, $118 million contract.

With the resultant financial flexibility, New Orleans is confident in its ability to re-sign restricted free agent Eric Gordon this summer to ensure it doesn't lose the best player it received in exchange for face-of-the-franchise Chris Paul in December.

The Hornets didn't have a second-round pick. They also have the first and 10th selections in the first round.

Washington also has the second pick of the second round.

- There are rumors that the Cleveland Cavaliers are in discussions with the Portland Trail Blazers regarding a four draft pick swap. In the deal, Cleveland would ship their two first round picks (#4 and #24) to Portland for their two first round picks (#6 and #11). It is no secret that the Cavs have targeted North Carolina guard/forward Harrison Barnes with their first pick and believe he will be available later than fourth overall, so they are looking to trade back a few spots and add another asset. Portland would be targeting Flordia shooting guard Bradley Beal, who the organization loves, with the fourth pick.

I want the Warriors to trade the 7th pick for 14&16. Then Draft rivers and royce white.

- The Golden State Warriors are going to draft someone that can help them on the glass in the first round, they were the worst rebounding team in the NBA in 2012, and if Andre Drummond is on the board at seven I think he will be the pick. There have been rumors that the Warriors like Perry Jones III or Terrence Jones, but they also have four total draft picks and could be a candidate to trade either up or down.

According to ESPN’s Chad Ford the Cleveland Cavaliers called the New Orleans Hornets and offered four draft picks (#4, #24, #33, #34) for the top pick in the draft and were quickly told “No.” The Hornets are keeping the pick, and drafting Anthony Davis.

- Hearing that as long as the Boston Celtics make a respectable offer and don’t insult him, Kevin Garnett will be back in Boston next season, he wants to finish his career there and the feeling is mutual. Probably a two-three year deal, but expect him to play two more seasons. UPDATE: I’m hearing that there are only two options for K.G. returning to the Celtics or retirement. That’s it.

I didn't know they traded that pick until just now. I laughed my ass off and thought of you when I saw that.

I really want the Nuggets to sign Javale McGee but i'm concerned about his mental. If he stays and improves on what he has done since he came to Denver than I won't feel as if they overpaid but he might go back to his knucklehead ways if he's get guaranteed dough.

Mike Miller to decide future

23miller-blog480.jpg

MIAMI -- Mike Miller showed how tough he is while playing through injuries all season. Now he needs to make a tough decision about his future.

Miller plans to meet with doctors soon to determine if his injured back needs surgery that includes a lengthy rehabilitation process. The Miami Heat guard also played with a foot problem this season, and typically declines to discuss his injury woes in any specifics other than saying he's well enough to play.

Miller set an NBA Finals record by making seven 3-pointers as a reserve in Miami's title-clinching win over Oklahoma City on Thursday night. He limped with nearly every step while scoring 23 points in 23 minutes -- Miami won the game 121-106, taking the series with the Thunder in five games -- and Miller raised the possibility afterward that the final game of this season may have been the final game of his career.

"It's been a roller-coaster ride for everybody," said Miller, who has three years and $18.6 million remaining on his contract with the Heat. "Everyone is dealing with something. Through the injuries, I'm just glad they didn't take me back to the barn and put me down. I'm just happy to be here."

On Monday, he'll be at a championship parade. City officials announced the event celebrating the Heat title would begin at 11 a.m. Monday, with about 90 minutes needed to complete the route.

Since signing with the Heat two years ago, Miller has dealt with a slew of thumb, ankle and shoulder injuries, plus needed surgery before this season to correct a hernia issue. There were many times this season when back pain prevented him from sitting on the bench; he'd either sit on the court, or sprawl out on the baseline or sideline to keep his back stretched.

"Mike Miller, I don't know how this guy was playing," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.

Miller is not the only Miami sharpshooter who is weighing his future options. Miami native James Jones said he is not absolutely certain about returning next year when the Heat try to defend their title.

Like Miller, Jones also has dealt with some injury problems in recent seasons.

"I really couldn't tell you what the future holds for me," Jones said. "Growing up in Miami and playing basketball on the biggest stage with the world's best team and have an opportunity to win a championship is something that I never believed would come true. Now that it has come true, I don't know. Who wouldn't want to go out on top?

"It's great to have options," Jones added. "That's the one thing about it. For the last 31 years of my life I've been grinding every day trying to take a championship on some level and I got it. Now that's a dream fulfilled and I'll have to move onto the next challenge. If that's championship No. 2, it's championship No. 2. If not, it's been a great run."

Combined, Miller (53) and Jones (46) made 99 3-pointers for the Heat this season.

Miller said he was still thrilled that Heat owner Micky Arison and team president Pat Riley wanted him in Miami two years ago, adding that whatever decision he makes will be with the team in mind.

"I've got to make the best decision, not only for the organization, for the players that work every night, for the Arisons who believed in me, for coach Riley for bringing me here, and then my family," Miller said. "Just got to make sure it's the best one. If it is, I couldn't picture a better point to go out on top like this as a champion. But we'll see. We'll visit the doctors and see what parts work and don't, and go from there."

Heat's James Jones considering retirement

MIAMI -- Heat swingman James Jones is a "calculated" person.

In his words, he never backtracks once he makes a decision. Jones will have a big one to make once the season ends. Winning an NBA title this season could potentially push him toward retirement. After nine seasons, Jones, 31, is at a point where he is thinking post-basketball.

"Most definitely," Jones said of possibly retiring after this season. "I've been going for the last two years. I didn't have a summer off coming off an injury. Then with the NBA lockout and the collective bargaining stuff, it's been a 24-month grind for me."

Jones, the secretary-treasurer of the NBA players' union, spent a great deal of time last offseason negotiating during the lockout. He then jumped into a 66-game regular season crammed into four months, being called upon sparingly in a limited role. Through Thursday, he was averaging just 8.8 minutes during the playoffs.

He said it may be time to walk away. Jones, who played at the University of Miami, won the league's 3-point Shootout during All-Star Weekend in 2011. That year, he also made a career-high 123 3-pointers.

His best overall season came when he averaged 9.3 points for the Phoenix Suns in 2005-06.

"Mentally and physically, it's taken a toll on not just on me, but for my family," Jones said. "At some point, you know the game comes to an end. You see the writing on the wall. You try to prolong it as long as possible. Like anything I've ever done, I want to walk away from my challenges rather than my challenges push me aside."

Jones said he was thinking retirement before the season began. As a free agent, he had interest from five teams that were offering more money. He instead chose to return to the Heat for a lower salary by signing a three-year contract because the lure of winning a championship.

Now, he said he will wait to see how he feels in the offseason before deciding if he continues his playing career.

"I know once it's (the season) over and done with, I don't know how the competitor in me will feel," Jones said. "I don't know what kind of emotions I'll experience, but more importantly I don't know which direction the team will go. You know championship teams try to get better. All I can control is me. This is a great place to play. They have a real opportunity to win championships. From a personnel standpoint, you just never know."

James Jones is Considering Retirement from the NBA

James Jones, the long-range sniper from the Miami Heat, may walk away from the game now that he has won a ring. Reports the Sun-Sentinel: “After nine seasons, Jones, 31, is at a point where he is thinking post-basketball. ‘Most definitely,’ Jones said of possibly retiring after this season. ‘I’ve been going for the last two years. thought this was an interesting comment:

"Although I hope Nash goes to Miami next year he will fill Miller’s spot, in a way Jones is saying he wants to play more or he’ll walk away like BIG.Z did last year because they didn’t play him in the finals so he got mad and walked away Riley Begged him to come back but BIG.Z is no fool , Jones won’t make a decision untill Miller’s situation is resolved"

Half the Heat team about to retire.

not much money, but a few spots will be open

  • Chris Bosh F
  • Mario Chalmers G
  • Norris Cole G
  • Eddy Curry C(FA)
  • Terrel Harris G(FA - should see better deal with new team)
  • Udonis Haslem F
  • Juwan Howard F(FA - may retire)
  • LeBron James F
  • James Jones G-F(may retire)* due $1,500,000 12-13

According to ESPN’s Chad Ford the Cleveland Cavaliers called the New Orleans Hornets and offered four draft picks (#4, #24, #33, #34) for the top pick in the draft and were quickly told “No.” The Hornets are keeping the pick, and drafting Anthony Davis.

That sounds desperate as fuck. In a good draft, they could get 4 decent guys.

With Jones and Miller retiring... the Heat and get Nash and Terry to come aboard and get a decent big man in FA on the cheap...

Heat got the 27th pick if Royce White don't go top 25 they need to give that kid a serious look... Another LBJ but lite

Mavs better not fuck up this pick or trade it away for bullshit

There are good players who will be there at #17

Gilbert is desperate

What his bitch ass got to say now since Lebron got that ring he said he wasn't getting?

I rather pick up one swing man and spend more on a FA big man and another in the draft.

Sup with Camby or Spencer Hawes? dude is a good pick and roll player and he can pass

Camby would be a HUGE pickup for the Heat and I could see him coming for the minumum

Hawes you would have to spend a little bit cuz he is younger and hasn't made the money that Camby has made in career

Jason Collins? all the Heat need is a center who can rebound and is a big body....

Yeah I figured as much since he lives in Houston

Props to him for not ring chasing but at the same time he would really complete that team
