Im afraid the cumulative effect is to try to split the base so black folk reject his candidacy or stay away from the polls.

But the reality is that Obama is running to be the President of the United States of America. Unfortunately people in this country, for the most part, have no appetite for the truth. So if Obama wants to win this thing he has to play the game.
I'm not naive, it's clear to me that even if Obama does become president he won't be able to change the way our country does business in any real significant way. He'll improve America's public relations on the global stage, offer some black youth an alternative role model and apply domestic policy that makes more sense than what we've gotten for the last 8 years but he won't change the core of what's made this country tick for the last century.
