I think that in order to heal the democrats after this primary campaign, I think that Obama has to pick a white woman age (45-55) as his VP in order to consolidate the woman vote.

What do you think and who do you think it would be?

nope.....a white male would be a stronger ticket

Apparently you believe that if Hillary loses, democratic women voters will simply stay home in November ?

 • Assuming you're right (I'm not saying I agree), wouldn't his chances depend upon which white woman he chooses? It doesn't appear from Hillary's all or nothing attitude that she would ride second seat on the ticket, so what other white female would (1) act as a "healer" for their party AND (2) enhance the possibility of she and Obama getting elected, by causing new voters, other than those who would have voted for Obama anyway, to come out?

 • Would a Hispanic woman, especially one with European features, have more of a "Healer" effect AND bring a large segment of voters to the table who might not otherwise be disposed to vote Obama?

 • Might there be a white male who might increase the number of white males who vote Obama? Would that be more important than attempting to pacify women for Hillary not winning the nomination?

Monica Lewinsky

He needs a VP with national security experience...like a Wesley Clark...it would offset McCain

Wesley? - interesting.

Whatever, there will not be a Dream Team (Obama-Clinton or Clinton-Obama).

I've heard a lot of people, commentators and Magic & Barkley talking about a Dream Team. I say its just that, talk. I doubt seriously that Obama would name Hillary, even if she would accept, because that would mean getting Bill and I just can't imagine Obama having to watch the news every evening to see what Bill has said about whatever. On the other hand, Hillary would be stupid to name Obama and what? - be out shined for the next for years? LOL. Not a chance.

Wesley endorsed Hillary so it may not be possible. But there has been a lot of talk about Wesley.

This has also been a lot of talk about Jim Webb too..for the same reason. He brings national security experience because of his Military background and he has also been highly critical of the Bush administration.

If Obama is running a campaign of "change", "moving forward", "non-divisive politics", etc...He has NOTHING to gain from having Hillary as his VP. It would completely smear his message...plus he would have to compete with Bill Clinton in the white house if he won like you said.

I think that idea is a non-starter. It would look way too contrived, sort of like picking a black vp to mollify Obama supporters. Would that shit work on you?

That would be foolish and pandering. It would make him look like something he's worked hard to not look like--a politician.

as much as white women love black dick, im pretty sure that wont be necessary....

Hmmmmm. Another good candidate.

I like the Jim Webb thing too....however, I don't think that women are in love with Hillary more than being in love with the idea of a woman president. Which is why I think he needs to find a woman..

If the party goes to the convention without a candidate some group will be hurt by the final decision. So healing will be needed unless someone is nominated before the convention

just asking, but doesn't that mean that if Hillary gets the nomination, the group that will be hurt will be the millions of supporters of Obama including a lot of Black people. In that case shouldn't Hillary select a Black male as VP to . . . heal the party?

Man I hear you but think strategy.
Black folks are 12% of the population...and most of us don't vote. My guess is that if she upsets all the blacks by getting the nomination...she will just write them off...cuz putting a token black as VP aint gonna change black folks attitudes. So why waste the nomination?

From a strategy point would be to put the 1st LATINO in as vice president. Make sure all the Latinos ...and future hispanic voters hop on the BILLARY TRAIN.

I submit to you Hillary's VP .. New Mexico Governor and Latino.... BILL RICHARDSON.

Oh I was only being facetious, LOL, about Hillary naming a Black male as a running mate.

On the other hand, you raise an interesting proposal, Richardson as VP. I think you're right, naming Richardson would pull a large part of the Hispanic vote for Hillary -- but what would WE do??? If she wins the nomination, would we vote for her azz despite she and Bill's antics in South Carolina??? I said in another thread how WE may be turning the corner and becoming politically smarter with our vote; if so, I'm not so certain that we would just roll over for Hillary. If not, could she beat McCain without us ???

Since we just "talking" this is about STRATEGY.
If Billary wins in the upset for the DEM NOD here is what will happen ...keep in mind we are only 12% of the population.

The Black Hillary supporters will STILL vote for Hillary...obviously.

The Blacks that would feel "betrayed" will not vote for Republican.......PERIOD... they will just NOT VOTE AT ALL..........the abscence of those votes can not hurt HILLARY....or help MCCAIN :hmm:

So the Clinton camp will be like "why bother trying to recapture the black vote at that point? nothing they could do at that point would get blacks back on the Clinton train" Plus the disenfranchised blacks probably won't vote in the GENERAL ELECTION anyway.

So go after the LATINO vote........Latino's have more DISPOSABLE INCOME than any other minority in the US. so why not get them onboard?

I been telling black folks over the past few years. The days of black folks getting stuff "just because they are the largest minority" days are over. Latinos now have more $$$....and pretty soon will vote in higher numbers than BLACKS. So you will increasingly start seeing that government policy will focus on Latino POLICY/PROGRAMS.........not Blacks.

So black folks better get their shit together quick. No more free handouts just for being black.

Hell even the H.B.C.U's are recruiting LATINO's because Negroes aint' going to the schools and the hispanics still count towards the school's gov't funding.

So now all the BLACK schools aren't going to be giving a damn about you real soon....cuz they will be able to operate without you.

Plus think forward:
Latinos have NOT favored one party over the other. So what does that mean?
BOTH parties will be pandering towards them for votes. That means a promising a bunch of Social Programs aimed at Latinos...coming from both sides of the aisle. Which means NIGGAS (not black folk) will be irrelevant.

Not necessarily so. The number of people voting in the democratic primaries is up. As I see it, the youth and Blacks make up the bulk of that increase. Who is responsible for the increased awareness? Certainly, its not Hillary Clinton because they are not voting Hillary Clinton. So, remove the stimuli (Obama) and it is likely the overall number of people willing to vote for a democrat goes down. Does that Help Hillary; or does that favor the republican nominee?

I don't know what we've been getting, FOR FREE anyway. Most assistance programs are designed to benefit people of low income, regardless of race. But, given what you said -- why do so many African Americans not see how they are being harmed by "ILLEGAL" immigration ???

i think obama kerry would work even better. kerry has name recognition a proven war record that is stronger post swiftboat when everyone learned that bush lied. and he has been a obama supporter for a while.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Close-in supporters of Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign are convinced he never will offer the vice presidential nomination to Sen. Hillary Clinton for one overriding reason: Michelle Obama.

The Democratic front-runner's wife did not comment on other rival candidates for the party's nomination, but she has been sniping at Clinton since last summer. According to Obama sources, those public utterances do not reveal the extent of her hostility.

A footnote: Support is growing in Democratic ranks for Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland as vice president. He would bring to the ticket maturity (66 years old), experience (six terms in Congress) and moderation (rated "A" by the National Rifle Association). He is very popular in Ohio, a state Republicans must carry to elect a president.

Well, she's not white, and she's over 60; my recommendation is Shirley Clarke Franklin.

Does it really matter? I never heard anybody say a white presidential candidate has to pick a black VP to satisfy black people. So why should a black candidate need a white one?

I think the VP not necessarily has to be woman, it could be anybody has great influence to the demographic of people, Obama has less chance to win their votes... it could be Edward, webb anybody they had mention before and plus the mayor new york blomberg for instance
