New requirements: You now need a valid NYS driver's licence with no serious moving violations, suspensions, or accidents. Also, you have to pay another $25 for taking the oral proficency assessment. "Failure to pay the additional fee on the date you're scheduled to take the assessment will result in disqualification from further participation in the appoint process."

"Mta owns my ass"was his exacts words last time we spoke.
Nothing drug related

You are in the front cab of the train, That is indoors and you do NOT talk to the public.
Base pay today is $ 70k. With Night pay, Weekend Pay, Overtime pay and etc pay
You should be at or very near 200K in 2020.

Race Harley, there is no need to shout in bold and try to call someone out as a liar
What I wrote is real, My father in law retired in 1998 as a NYC bus driver and he was averaging 170k at the time, So if you can not do the same or better today, Then Hum ?

Your complaining that a clean Drivers licence is needed and $25.oo to prove you can speak english. O geez

Fam them cats ain't covering 200k even if they did 16 hours a day and came in or their days off of OT..

They are not covering 200k.. Max maybe 120k because that would suggest in their contract a lot of the money is hidden like night diff and shift diff and that would have to be at minimum 10% of their base pay.. MTA not allowing that shit

You obviously don't know the job. A Train Operator's job isn't just operating a train up and down the road. You can have many different assignments, including working in the yards, switching (relaying trains at terminals) and working the platform. So that throws your "always inside" and "no contact with the public" out the window.

Prior to this test listing, you didn't need a driver's license to be offered this job, requiring a NYS driver's license opts out NJ, Penn, and CT people who want to apply. You might not find this to be a big deal but there are plenty of people working for the MTA that live out of state, and I'm sure there are plenty that want to apply that will be turned away because of this. I guess no "big deal" if you live in New York. :hmm:

Show me another job listing that requires you to pay to prove that you can speak and understand English. $25 on top of the $82 app fee.

Work all the penalty jobs, late clears, and as many RDOs (Regular Days Off) you want and you're not many close to $200k... not now, and not 4 years from now.

It's a good job no doubt but the best thing about it is you can advance.

Don't believe 200k. It can be dangerous. It's certainly tedious and IIRC there is RANDOM DRUG TESTING. 90% of you cats done right there. lol.

Dangerous how?

Dangerous as when you're not in the cab of the train, you could be down on the tracks, working in the yards or terminals, where you can come in contact with the 3rd rail, hit by a train you didn't hear coming, (some of the New Tech trains are disturbingly quiet), slipping and falling in wet weather, etc.

That's just a few of the things that's dangerous down there.

I have many friends long time with MTA. Dudes are in their 50's and 60's. From track workers to operators and even my wife uncle was one of the heads of MTA. Retired, moved to GA. Another, my godfather, was one of the heads of bus operations. He was one caught up in that scandal when they bought buses from China that they never went thru the deal with.

Point is, many of them dudes clear 150k in upper management, meaning some who bump elbows with mayor's office. Regular workers there forever can make 120k doing OT or whatever. My boy trains track workers doing that.

It don't matter, yall arguing mute points, any way you slice it, transit is a good stable long time job where nuccas make easier long money than corp America.

Those of y'all interested, take that damn test. May take a year to hit you back, but it's worth the wait. All city jobs like that take time.
