NPR fires analyst Juan Williams after he says Muslims on planes make him nervous

So you want to beg the white man for exclusive black only policies and call them Black Civil Rights?

 now you are calling it "begging"

You cats never cease to amaze me.

Study social problems and get back to me on what group is at the bottom of almost every category.

I seriously doubt that "muslims" would be on the list since it is a religion and not a race/ethnicity.

Yet you cats are in here defending the "civil rights" of people who are living their lives with ease while YOUR PEOPLE are being horribly marginalized in terms of finance, economics, education, health, and incarceration....and we have accepted it "as the way things are".

Yeah..."civil rights" indeed....:hmm:

When you ask for something to be exclusively granted to you or a specific race.. and you are asking the other race to give you that.. yes it is begging.

When you are asking that the laws be administered equally based on the constitution.. that is called a RIGHT>... hence the term CIVIL RIGHTS!

"where is the forest?"

Fuckem! Warren Ballentine is somewhere

Rick Sanchez says the media is run by Jews, which is true, and he gets fired.

Juan Williams says Muslims on planes make him nervous, which I'm sure a lot of people (black, white and brown) agree with, and he gets fired.

I hate this politically correct bullshit world we live in now. These media outlets are afraid of offending groups that their quick to fire someone over statements that should really warrant a slap on the wrist. Whether you agree or disagree with him, it's still a bullshit reason to fire someone.

Politically correct? That's some bullshit White men made up when they weren't allowed to shit everyone else to their face without fear of repercussions.
Juan Williams has the right to say whatever but he represents himself and NPR and NPR decided they didn't want him around anymore.

funny how we never use this same mind set when a white woman clutches her purse, or a cop racial profiles us. Bigotry is bigotry. I don't want me, or my unborn child to be profiled by cops. Therefore I can't cosign on profiling and fearing Muslims. Wrong is wrong.

Yep. I'll elaborate in a sec.

- basically.

and these tobey's will co-sign them firing this man for this nonsense, but like i said in the other post

show me where these AYE-RAB muslims have EVER come to the defense of specific black issues...

the bottom line is that Juan Williams wasn't being a good democratic slave n*gg*r, and the democrats cut off his pay check.

and yall applaud that!?!? got damn slaves. :smh:

You're gotdamn right I applaud it. I applaud anytime someone pays a price for saying ignorant shit when they should and probably do know better. There's no way Williams says that on NPR or back when he was on "America's Black Forum" but he "yassaboss"ed himself out of a job. It's never about whether he's a "good democratic slave" and that's just a straw man argument when someone either wants to defend bigotry or agrees with it (neither are positive things). Tony Brown's been a Republican for decades and in many ways a conservative but no one calls him a "coon" or "sellout" because he doesn't try to advance his career on the backs of Black folks nor does he go out of his way to please and agree with White conservatives.

What does it matter if Arabs Muslims come rushing to the defense of Black folks? That's some petty, childish shit. Black Americans should be the last people to co-sign a White man's bigotry, not the first and the loudest.

It's hard to be a grown up on this board sometimes, huh divine?

Agree with everything you said especially in the bold

You must be pretty young, but not that long ago people just reported the news. That's all, no opinion, no innuendo, no angle, just the news. Despite how a lot of neo-conservative people try to spin it as bias (because it was started by a Democrat) NPR is largely old school reporting. The fact that he went on another network and admitted a bias, not just that time but several times in the past is what got him fired. He easily could have spun it as a debate, or kept it off air but he didn't. Things like that messes with NPR's image and give people more ammo to claim there's a bias and therefore they should be shut down and they can't have that

Right. Williams plays it more professional on NPR but then gets caught up in the buffoonery (in general, not race specific) that is Fox News Channel and his recklessness cost him.

I think NPR's hands were tied in this ... putting everything aside, Williams at the end of the day discredits the credibility of NPR's programing when he talks out of the side of his mouth like this on Fox News ...

Rick Sanchez says the media is run by Jews, which is true, and he gets fired.

Juan Williams says Muslims on planes make him nervous, which I'm sure a lot of people (black, white and brown) agree with, and he gets fired.

Your point is not lost on me.... however I am against the media influencing people so the least they can do is deliver an unbiased report ... these divisive, negative, offensive kind of sentiments are not supposed to be delivered by a correspondent on a news show ... save that for your blog or a private conversation IMO

If Juan Williams had cussed bill oreilly out, called him a racist, and stormed off the set...this man would STILL have his job at NPR.

think about that: he would have been seen as a good negro that is defending massa's agenda with all his might and seen as a hero despite cursing and acting like a fool....

but since one of their own got out of pocket...he had to go.

now...anybody care to tell me where I'm wrong? seriously...somebody point out where this is wrong.

fuk that turncoat no-job-havin mutha fuka. that's what he get. now gitcho azz in line and shut tha fuk up

The only emotion I have invested in this is a sense of joy when justice is actually meted out. But the entirety of my post was neither emotionally loaded (which you say to dismiss counterpoints without having to challenge them on their merit) and based completely on the facts of what happened.

No one is saying he should have cussed out O'Reilly or anything of the sort (you may be the BGOL King of Straw Man Arguments). That most likely, depending on the language, cost him his job at Fox. Juan Williams is an educated, worldly man who should know that those type of comments are best left said off air, if said at all. Admitting one's bigotry is a good thing and can lead to down a better path of enlightenment but that's not what he and Bill-O were doing. Williams was celebrating his ignorance and co-signing Bill's.
You keep going back to this "massa/slave" stuff and then calling other people "emotional" as if you have no understanding of irony. I don't recall reading anywhere that the "massas" of old were against bigotry of any kind. Actually, they would have been on O'Reilly and Williams' side of this debate.

Yeah .....shit showed he was shallow.

Only someone shallow would say some shit like that

Someone shallow enough to believe the hype machine.

I think people are missing the point. Juan knows better.. the US gov't propaganda campaign against muslims, used to help sell their war.. has people thinking muslims are an enemy to the US. Juan was trying to play both sides of the fence.. pretending to argue with O'Reilly as the "voice of reason' while at the same time, making statements that he knows speak the how people in the US were made to think (about muslims). Let's be real. NPR probably wanted to fire his coon ass a long time ago but this was their opportunity!

the dumb ass house nigga don't even know that all the alleged muslim terrorist on airlines were not dressed in muslim garb..they were right to fire his stupid Uncle Tom ass

UpgradeDave ... I see you bruh... always the voice of reason. You're a patient dude.

Irrational bullshit. Did any of the 9/11 hijackers have on Muslim garb?

You have to understand most of the ppl cosigning this kind irrational fear and bigotry don't really think these issues through at all. It's really just a bunch of emotional bullshit.

Terrorists don't generally dress in traditional Islamic garb and Muslims are represented in every ethnicity and nationality. So setting aside the uselessness of trying to assess the threat someone poses to you based on this kind of superficial analysis.... the arguments Juan and co are making are morally absurd and completely specious.

Be more critical ninjas. And fuck Juan Cole.

Though I don't agree with his obvious prejudice toward Muslims, but it's fucked up that Bill-O & Rush can say that type of sideways shit all day and catch breaks.

FUCK FOX NEWS!

UpgradeDave ... I see you bruh... always the voice of reason. You're a patient dude.

I don't do it for the morons I end up debating but for the lurkers and others who might think they sound reasonable or knowledgeable.
Plus when I got some time to kill, this has turned into the one that gets me into the least amount of shit.

FUCK FOX NEWS!

It's not them catching breaks, they just work for people that want them to say ignorant shit, Williams did not.

you hired by someone, you represent the company. if you dont follow under their standards, they can fire your ass.
