NPR fires analyst Juan Williams after he says Muslims on planes make him nervous. NPR, those bastions of liberal tolerance, fired Williams late on Wednesday night after he made intellectually honest comments while appearing on the O’Reilly Factor this past Monday. Appearing on the Factor in the wake of the O’Reilly/"The View" brouhaha over Bill O’Reilly’s own politically incorrect (but 110% TRUE) comments about Muslims, Williams said that he gets nervous if he’s on a plane and sees Muslims who identify themselves first as Muslims before anything else. And because of this intellectually honest admission of how he feels and thinks—which many other people likely share and which makes complete sense—NPR responds in intolerant, Nazi-like retaliation and censorship by firing him! There’s no room in America for this overly severe political correctness that NPR has displayed so shamefully. Regardless of what you believe, Juan Williams is entitled to his opinion if that’s really how he feels.

cant say anything about the 2 groups that cant stop fighting

say something not PC about Jews....you get fired (even if its true)

someone says, out loud, what people think about muslims and he gets fired.

shit is crazy

An honest open dialogue is necessary to alleviate these fears whether they are unfounded or factual.

People need to put their fears and prejudices on the table.

I still want an open dialogue about black discrimination.

Good. Williams can't continue to be an "impartial observer" on NPR and then become a separate character when he's on Fox. Now he can suck up to his masters as much as he wants.

He can have his opinion but he can and did suffer the consequences for publicly proclaiming them.

Bill was technically right about what he said but he was playing with words and playing on people's ignorance. No one says "Christians blew up the Atlanta Olympics" or "Christians murder abortion doctors". Now factually, a person saying that would be right but intellectually they would be wrong for slapping that broad brush and even Bill knew that because he immediately backpedalled. Williams should have picked a better time (off air) or a better choice of words to let Bill know "I still loves you, Boss."

I just can't figure out why some black people are so quick to help discriminate someone because of their race and/or religion.

Fixed.

Rick Sanchez says the media is run by Jews, which is true, and he gets fired.

Juan Williams says Muslims on planes make him nervous, which I'm sure a lot of people (black, white and brown) agree with, and he gets fired.

I hate this politically correct bullshit world we live in now. These media outlets are afraid of offending groups that their quick to fire someone over statements that should really warrant a slap on the wrist. Whether you agree or disagree with him, it's still a bullshit reason to fire someone.

It's kinda like when a white guy who hangs with brothas thinks it's ok to say "niggas", cause he hangs with black folks...

They get ass whoopins.
Juan gets fired.

I glad he just had his "You still a nigga" moment, cause he was getting too comfortable standing behind Bill.

Appreciate the info, OP.
I'm glad they fired this mealy-mouthed Uncle Tom sycophant, but that so-called article is biased, right-winged and brain dead as hell.

agree.

One thing you cannot be is honest...

He said something that most people, being honest would say.

funny how we never use this same mind set when a white woman clutches her purse, or a cop racial profiles us. Bigotry is bigotry. I don't want me, or my unborn child to be profiled by cops. Therefore I can't cosign on profiling and fearing Muslims. Wrong is wrong.

A lack of dialogue causes bigotry to grow.

"Secret sentiments" are passed to close family members which perpetuates "bigotry".

Its unintelligent to attack intolerance with intolerance.

You attack intolerance with historical and contextual based dialogue.

And this shit goes well beyond racial profiling.

Blacks have accepted being placed at the lowest rung of most aspects in US society..., but there is no outcry.

That is the result of allowing the propagation of those "secret sentiments" through the generations.

The only times that outcries occur are when some idiot politician sends a racists email or when some idiot talk show host says something stupid on air.

Then...people get concerned over an individual's LANGUAGE instead of focusing on informal discriminatory behaviors and formal state sponsored policies/tactics.

Fuck language because it is just a verbal manifestation of perceptions.

You dont ban people for speaking about perceptions....you intelligently discuss perceptions.

Attack the perceptions not the receptor!

Just because people are not speaking in a bigot's manner doesnt mean that they are not supportive of a bigot's policies or behaviors.

open the dialogue...let people speak

he's not white. looks like he forgot :dunno:  but seriously, I guess he kind of has an understanding of when white ladies get nervous and hold their purses when they see a black man  I don't feel bad for him like I didn't feel bad about Imus.

Here's the problem: what does a Muslim look like? It's a religion, not a race.

Co-sign. Im not shocked he got fired though.

I dont like how he switches between neo-con on Fox and moderate on NPR, but his book "ENOUGH" has a shit ton of truth in it, enough that I was happy to hear him on NPR, where he didnt have to do the house nigga tap dance on Fox.

Whenever I'd hear him on NPR on one of the weekly political roundup shows, I'd be like "who the hell is this? Can't be the same guy I see on cable..."

Fuck Juan Williams. How the fuck to say that you know your trackj record with wrighting abot civil rights issues and then say that a whole group of people make you nervous.

Juan was trying to hard to stay with the Fox News talking points and he fucked up. As another poster said, you can't act like that on Fox News and then want to come back to NPR and act like you're unbiased.

Finally I wonder if Juan Williams would co-sign that we need to look at all white military veterans with a side eye cause of Timothy McVeigh.

STFU u know dame well what he was talking about. he said muslim garb anyway.

The same niggas in here saying they glad he's fired, was the same ones laughing at comedians who made jokes about this same topic.

Except the same asshole that says seeing Muslims makes him nervous yet says he was all about the civil rights movement. Fuck that.

what does the black civil rights movement have to do with someone stating that they are nervous when "muslims" get on a plane with him/her?

What is the "Black Civil Rights' Movement?:confused: Civil Rights activists are about civil rights period, regardless of color, nationality, sex, religions etc.

:smh:

and this thinking is the reason why black issues will never be dealt with as genuine black issues and why policies will be made to open doors for all minorities (including white women) instead of black people exclusively.

same old "people of color and women" bullshit that I get tired of hearing.....

and continue wondering why the civil rights that blacks fought for helped that korean open that hair shop or the Arab open the liquor store in black neighborhoods

Irrational bullshit. Did any of the 9/11 hijackers have on Muslim garb?

He said something that most people, being honest would say.

- basically.

and these tobey's will co-sign them firing this man for this nonsense, but like i said in the other post

show me where these AYE-RAB muslims have EVER come to the defense of specific black issues...

the bottom line is that Juan Williams wasn't being a good democratic slave n*gg*r, and the democrats cut off his pay check.

and yall applaud that!?!? got damn slaves. :smh:

So you want to beg the white man for exclusive black only policies and call them Black Civil Rights?

Like I said to your dumb ass before.. Civil Rights is about equal rights for everyone.. to be treated EQUALLY!
