I've been in Charlotte for almost two years now. I'm leaving next week.
Lots of backwards whites and subservient Blacks. Had a co-worker who would actually answer 'yawsuh' when addressed by a supervisor. Lots of 'scary' brothers here. They are always telling me to watch how I talk to these white folks and not to hold my head up. Weird. And these are IT professionals.
I met lots of broke single women here who were from here and trying to leave. Stick with college girls or develop a taste for the big ones (or white girls). The 3 strip clubs are okay. Downtown night life is relatively safe but kind of sterile. I was bored with it after about a month.
Crime is worse than you'd think. One of my co-workers was killed in a robbery in January.
Forbes magazine lists Charlotte as the 9th most miserable city in the country. Prepare to be bored out of your mind.

I have lived in Fayetteville, Raleigh, Charlotte, and now I live in Lincolnton. It is more shit to do as far as cultural in Raleigh IMO so I agree. There is more shit poppin in Fayetteville b/c it is a college and military town so more goes down there. Fayetteville you have FSU and Methodist, then you have the surrounding colleges like Pembroke, Central, NC State(Raleigh) Duke(durham/chapel hill) UNC(chapel hill) so as far as partying, it goes down. Charlotte is fun and very "black" in some areas but I have more fun in Fay and Raleigh.

The only thing that Greensboro has is Sugarbares and A&T Homecoming.Charlotte is a cool city but it doesn't really have any soul. The nightlife is ok. It seems like its poppin until you actually move there. Charlotte has an abundance of uneducated and ignorant blacks.
Raleigh is also nice. Its definitely more diverse than Charlotte. The nightlife is about the same as Charlotte. The black population in Raleigh seems to be generally more educated. Probably because of the students of the area's colleges settling there after graduation.

Charlottes not known for anything, its kinda just here in the middle of a country ass state, dunno why people even settled here when the city was founded, yeah there are a few rivers around, but nothing that could sustain a bustling metropolis, no trade routes ran through here, no ports or anything. Its just an oasis or steel and glass that appears on the horizon. So yeah I could see how you can find a bunch of country ass people here because once you get outside the city limits, thats all it really is in this state. Aint nothing really great about Releigh either. Ehh Graham street aint that bad, but Beaties Ford down by Trade st is still bad, that stretch from about where I85 ramps are to down past that Bojangles after you pass Smith... Thats kinda rough. Downtown aint really all that safe once you get to where the Transit center is. Dunno why the hell they thought putting Bobcats arena at THAT location would be a good idea. As for nightlife, it only really gets live around here for CIAA weekend. Otherwise you wasting your time clubbing, I might go to a few First Fridays this year, but last year I really got to the point where I had seen about half the chicks in the spot no more that a month before somewhere else. Crystals is the shit though, That part of Plaza rd is ghetto as fuck to, so dont sleep. The only club I want to hit up is that joint that used to be Menage, I drove by there and I saw a ton of bitchs on white couches and shit. Might be worth looking into. But yeah I say if your older than say... 26 you need to be booed up cause aside from the ghetto ass clubs (Crush, V lounge) wack as strip club(Nikkis, Onyx, Peaches and cream) there really aint much to do. Its sad when the hottest spot in the University area is Fridays on Friday night... YES THE RESTAURANT!!!

IMO Charlotte is not the city to re-locate for a single dude....at least not yet. If you have a wife and kids you're good. Nice place to raise a family. The nightlife is bland to me, and all they play is southern hip-hop ALL DAY!

I was born in NC and I still love Charlotte but the development around the college was neglected as fuck
I'm still trying to find, in Charlotte, a nice atmosphere for young black professionals. Every now and then, Innercircle might throw a hot party, but it's few and far between. If I had the time (and money right now), I'd start a small business geared towards nightlife opportunities for young black professionals here in Charlotte.

The majority of slow drivers are newcomers who have no idea where they're going, people on the phone (next time you pass someone doing 50 in a 65 look at them, they're on the phone)or illegals who don't want to get stopped.
Personally, I try to not drive anymore than 5-7 mph over the speed limit because I have several tickets and can't afford another hike in my insurance because the muhfucka behind me should have left 5 minutes earlier.

The point of my post was to compare and contrast, the popular areas on NC, I've lived in many places around the world (Army Brat) and i love it here... as a matter of fact half of my family has moved here from jersey and they love it.
When you talk about Raleigh you have to include Chapel Hill and Durham. They are right next to each other. Hampton Roads is Newport News, Va Beach, hampton and some other places. The Triangle is Raleigh Durham chapel Hill. I forget what the Triad is maybe Gboro, High point and burlington. I never mentioned the Hurricanes, why would i fucking mention Hockey, who the fuck goes to watch Hockey. I'll admit i was a little hype when we won the Cup three years ago, and hockey is a little interesting in HD. But i never brought it up...
I go to Carolina and NC State games all the time, Football and Basketball I get in damn near every black club in raleigh for the free (Fuck Blackties). If i wanna party with the whities i do, i dont have to, there are options. I can go to all black parties, all white parties, mixed parties, latin clubs that have south americans and not just mexicans. Open your mind buddy... Bottom line is Charlotte is a great place thats growing very very fast. We will have 4 new clubs by the end of 08 the housing is cheap. Crime is low. We are the 19th biggest city in the US and every major company has a presence here. There are a huge amount of educated black people and a lot of black people with money. Yes Bob Johnson owns homes here and so does Jordan L.L cool J, Randy Moss, amongst others. It's not Atl and never will be. It's not D.C. and never will be. But its a place where if you have hustle you can run the city and you can afford to buy a house and not be a 30 year old man with a roomate.
As for the chicks. I lived in ATL and I can say its just as comparable. Women here like to look good and many of them are upscale and dress nice. But there are boo boos also. This city is good and is on its way to being great. As for dude who is packing to leave you sound like a punk anyhow get gone. Anyone knows if you have game and swagger you can come up anywhere from the North Pole to Ecuador. So Charlotte is just like any other city it is what you make it. I know people who live in NYC and hate it soo... the grass is always greener.
Bottom line is Charlotte is a great place thats growing very very fast. We will have 4 new clubs by the end of 08 the housing is cheap. Crime is low. We are the 19th biggest city in the US and every major company has a presence here. There are a huge amount of educated black people and a lot of black people with money. Yes Bob Johnson owns homes here and so does Jordan L.L cool J, Randy Moss, amongst others. It's not Atl and never will be. It's not D.C. and never will be. But its a place where if you have hustle you can run the city and you can afford to buy a house and not be a 30 year old man with a roomate.
As for the chicks. I lived in ATL and I can say its just as comparable. Women here like to look good and many of them are upscale and dress nice. But there are boo boos also. This city is good and is on its way to being great. As for dude who is packing to leave you sound like a punk anyhow get gone.
