No More Uber in London

You could've gone to the UK or the USA to Doo Doo chase yet you came here. Why?
If I had gone somewhere else, would that have stopped you from
being a homosexual, or are you saying my coming here was
actually conditioned on my accepting your homosexuality?

I guess he came here for the same reason that many American companies are in Africa. To explore the resources. It's a 2 way street, chief.
It is not a 2 way street, because they have stolen far more that the little
we Africans have honestly earned...

Obama stole 145 tons of Libyan gold; they killed col Gaddafi and
are looting Libya, Eastern Congo, the Copper of Zambia, the
wild life...

He can sanctimoniously and self-righteously pout about my presence
here, but even there, there are 4.5 million cacs in South Africa alone..

Of I course I was aware of all this, but I wanted to address the issue
of his homosexuality, his love for drinking the consensed milk of
other men..

Exiled King, how many children have you prevented from being born
by selfishly making them swim in your belly instead?

Good. They shouldn't be allowed to operate anywhere unless drivers are subjected to the same license and insurance requirements that taxi drivers are. Or completely eliminate those requirements for all drivers.

Then their prices will go up. You know folks love their low prices.

This is why America is great, and these other countries suck. They don't invent or innovate shit. Fuck the tlc world wide. Where is the English/European Google, apple, IBM, Facebook ! Jealous cause their culture is not about taking risk and their lack of imagination.

Bullshit, you can jump on a train in Europe and go from country to country. London, Paris, Germany. Our infrastructure sucks. China's shit is better than ours. They have bullet trains. America is way behind homie.

The black cabs have already been mad because uber charges half of what they do. Dude charged us 95 pounds from Heathrow to Grovesnors House Marriott and made me make up my mind not to take a black cab again. The funny part is that they already don't let uber around Heathrow airport anyway. When you get outside, you'll see a line of black cabs who claim they all "have a map of london" in their head and that's what makes them different from the GPS using uber drivers....

You're kinda forgetting the part where our whole country is as big as their whole union.

hi speed rail is nice though.

But let's do your comparison on a real apples to apples look or as close as we can.

London to Paris. It's only 296 miles.

Compare that to say.... New York to DC. Not quite the same but it's two major cities. You can take the bullet from one to another. Or if you drove the highway in America you would definitely beat the time that it takes in Europe because you won't have checkpoints.

Or we can go from Atlanta to Charlotte. The train travel would suck so Europe wins there. But here we would either fly or drive. Driving takes 3 hrs and again no checkpoints or even the need to take your passport.

The real reason we don't have Hi speed rail here is not because of infrastructure. Our infrastructure is mostly the highway and it's pretty damn good. Also the air traffic within the US is better. You can literally drive or catch a bus THOUSANDS of miles away, safe, with no customs issues.

I wasn't surprised by London's actions. Based on their short history UBER is the epitome of what's wrong with many American businesses. They don't really respect or care for their customers. It's a sucker bet all around. A friend of mine drives for them. He checked around for proper commercial insurance to drive other people around in his car. Can't afford it. So now he is assuming that risk. If you ride with him and he gets in an accident his insurance company may not cover it. Being a passenger in a car accident with a friend driving is a bit janky anyway. Often you have to sue your friend's insurance company regardless of who is at fault. In addition to insurance if you apply what he earns against his expenses he may not even be breaking even. It all depends on where you live the car you drive and fuel cost. Uber is banking on the fact that you won't do the math. It kind of reminds me of people who love playing the Numbers and tell you how they make money but they can't tell you how much they spent in a given year on losing tickets. I give Uber credit for taking something that retired and semi-retired men had been doing in the hood for years and mass marketing it to Millennials GenXer's etc. I have to give them credit for even getting a few Baby Boomers to even drive for them. It's a great feat of marketing but it only works because their Target customer isn't going to think about it.

We are great true indeed no doubt. I like the fact that London is keeping it traditional. We need more of that here.
The genius of the app was breaking through the fact that Londoners like the convenience of black cabs but that model woefully underserves anywhere outside of the centre.

I don't think you really know how different it is. You're pondering this in your head but I speak from fact. There's no where you can't go in Europe by high speed train.

Uber CEO apologizes http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-uber-london-20170925-story.htmlto London, saying his company 'got things wrong'

In a letter of apology to Londoners on Monday, Uber’s new chief executive moved to repair his company’s reputation after the city’s transport authority said it would scrap the ride-hailing service’s operating license.

Dara Khosrowshahi issued a letter to London's Evening Standard newspaper acknowledging that the San Francisco company “got things wrong along the way” as it expanded. He said the company will appeal the London decision but will do so “with the knowledge that we must also change.”

“We won't be perfect, but we will listen to you; we will look to be long-term partners with the cities we serve; and we will run our business with humility, integrity and passion,” he wrote.

The city's transportation agency, Transport for London, said Friday that it would not renew Uber's license when it expires Sept. 30, citing a lack of corporate responsibility and concern for public security.

an email last week, Khosrowshahi told employees not to cry foul but to be more self-reflective over the London decision. “The truth is that there is a high cost to a bad reputation,” he said.

Reputation is probably what got Uber into its mess in one of Europe’s most important markets for the burgeoning ride-hailing industry. Regulators in London never cited a specific violation for pulling Uber’s license. Rather, the decision takes broad aim at the company’s “approach” to transparency and safety, which experts say is a proxy for its culture.

Not that there haven’t been serious problems.

Last month, London police accused Uber of failing to report a sexual assault committed by a driver, and said the driver later struck again.

The Sun newspaper reported that some Uber drivers allegedly had obtained falsified medical documents to drive for the service, and that background checks for about a tenth of Uber’s driver workforce were invalid.

In his letter to Londoners, Khosrowshahi said Uber is already taking steps to show it is a force for good, citing more wheelchair-accessible vehicles and a plan to reduce pollution on the city’s streets.

The company launched a change.org petition last week calling on London’s mayor to reverse his decision over the license. As of Monday, it had more than 775,000 signature
