Discovery of the bill had raised the prospect that Ledger might have been snorting drugs, but the negative test diminished that possibility. A preliminary autopsy on Ledger's body Wednesday was inconclusive.

Authorities found six different types of prescription drugs in Ledger's apartment, including pills to treat insomnia and anxiety and an antihistamine, according to two law enforcement officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing. Three of the drugs were prescribed in Europe.

Ledger was found dead in his New York City apartment Tuesday. The medical examiner's office in New York said early Wednesday that an autopsy on Ledger was inconclusive, and more tests are needed.

A spokeswoman for the office, Ellen Borakove, said that it will take about 10 days to complete toxicological tests on tissue samples taken from Ledger's body.

Prior to the autopsy, police said the death of the 28-year-old Australian actor was caused by a possible drug overdose and appeared to be accidental. There were sleeping pills nearby Ledger's body, police said.

Police also on Wednesday provided an in-depth timeline of Ledger's final moments.

They said a maid had been in the actor's bedroom moments before he died. She'd found him asleep. Later his massage therapist tried to wake him and found him unresponsive and cold to the touch.

She made a frantic call to Ledger's friend, actress Mary Kate Olsen, who said she would send her security guards. The masseuse then called 911. She was given guidance on CPR, but it was too late.

I said it before and i'll say it again. It's damn near impossible for a healthy 28 year old male to die of an accidental drug overdose. I mean you have 50 year old homeless crack fiends doing 3 day binges that don't die of overdoses. What makes Heath Ledger so special?

This had to be either a suicide or murder. There's no other logical explanation.

That is so not true.

European prescriptions are not like American ones.

And when I was taking over the counter sleeping pills, my trainer, my doc, and my mom who is a nurse, were really on me about that and the fact that I'm on a thyroid hormone.

Medication is not natural, so the interaction can be different from person to person. My mother always used to tell me that the heart is the most important thing on the body and that you should be careful of anything that can affect it even in the most minor of ways.

RIP to an awesome actor, IMO.

Very true, Isn't that what happened to Anna Nicole? Doctors prescriptions that don't interact well with each other.
If he were lacking in sleep like it seems he was too his immunity would have been way down.

Like you said Femme the heart is a vital organ and can only take so much after a while.

I hope that he has finally found that peace that he seemingly was missing in life. He was a good actor. The Dark Knight movie will become a cult hit just like The Crow. Guaranteed.

Peace

Anna Nicole was murdered by some of her ex-husband's heirs. Her son was taken out the same way.

European prescriptions or not, don't forget that Johnny Cash was the same age when he was caught smuggling HUNDREDS of Benzedrine tablets from Mexico. On top of that he was already a chronic alcoholic. He still lived until his 70's. Elvis was doing similar drugs and had a serious eating disorder and still lived until almost 50. Hell RUSH LIMBAUGH never got his scripts from Europe, but I'm pretty sure getting it from a Denny's parking isn't much better. He's more than 100 lbs overweight and used to take 5 oxy's a day without catching so much as a sniffle. In the light of all these Heath Ledger's situation doesn't make much sense.

Tell that to Len Bias, a college basketball player who suffered a fatal cardiac arrhythmia that resulted from a cocaine overdose less than 48 hours after being selected No. 1 by the Boston Celtics (2nd player selected overall) in the 1986 NBA Draft. He was 22.

Just face it, dude died from a combination of medication by accident. I hope the media doesn't turn this into a weird circus, because they sure as hell are trying.

R.I.P.

Granted, there are rare cases where a person with a preexisting heart condition can have a fatal or near fatal heart attack when they take a strong stimulant like cocaine (ie. Len Bias, George Carlin, Everlast) That being said the only stimulant that was found in the apartment was a bottle of prescribed antihistamine tablets. Any doctor in any country that wants to keep his hard earned medical license would have checked to make sure that Heath Ledger didn't have a condition that would have made this medication fatal. So what we're looking at here is either a murder, suicide, or a cas of GROSS medical malpractice. I think the latter is very unlikely
