Ninjas got a shootout with police in Louisiana...

Not to deflect from this story, but for those who don't know, LaPlace is like 25 min from NOLA, and for a small town, sees a lot of traffic due to all the refineries in the area.

It is also known as the "andouille capitol of the world" with both Jacob's & Baileys seeing lots of visitors who want to try or stock-up on their famous smoked meats.

I've never met anyone from that area I didn't like...even thought of moving there yrs ago. This is major news to that usually quiet lil town.

Two Louisiana sheriff's deputies were shot and killed early today in LaPlace after officers tracked down a car linked to an earlier shooting of a third deputy who had been working an off-duty traffic detail.

A fourth deputy was also injured at the trailer park where at least two suspects were arrested, the Associated Press reports.

"I lost two good officers today," an emotional St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Michael Tregre told reporters.

The shootings occurred in LaPlace on the east bank of the Mississippi River, west of New Orleans.

The first shooting took place around 5:30 a.m. in a parking lot used by workers in an area of manufacturing plants and refineries along the river.

Update at 12:17 p.m. ET: A tearful Sheriff Tregre said the shootings took place in two different locations, the Associated Press reports.

The first came when a gunman fired for unknown reasons on a deputy working an off-duty traffic detail along a highway that connects U.S. Highway 61 with the busy industrial corridor along the Mississippi River. That deputy was wounded.

Tregre said other deputies, alerted to a description of a car fleeing the scene, tracked the vehicle to a nearby trailer park, where they handcuffed a suspect outside a trailer.

After deputies knocked on the door of the trailer, they found another man inside, fully clothed, but sitting under a blanket.

When officers asked him to step outside, a third person also stepped out with an assault weapon and "ambushed my two officers," Tregre told reporters. Two deputies were killed and a third was wounded.

He said the two suspects were also wounded in the shootout before officers subdued them.

The dead were identified as Brandon Nielsen, 34, and Jeremy Triche, 27. The wounded officers are Jason Triche, 30, and Michael Boyington, 33. The Triches were not believed to be related.

The injured officers were being treated at area hospitals but the extent of their injuries was not known, the AP reports. The suspects were not immediately identified.

Update at 10:39 a.m. ET: All of the victims were working off-duty to provide security for a parking lot for Valero Energy, WWL-TV reports.

Update at 9:54 a.m. ET: WVUE-TV, quoting a spokesman for the Louisiana State Police, says two suspects are in custody.

Update at 9:48 a.m. ET: The AP, quoting unidentified law enforcement officials, reports that one suspect is in custody and at least one more suspect is being sought.

Original post: The circumstances surrounding the incident are not immediately clear, although the AP reports that authorities are searching the nearby area for suspects in the shooting.

(CNN) -- Two sheriff's deputies died and two were wounded in a series of apparently linked shootings early Thursday in LaPlace, Louisiana, authorities said.

The first shooting happened in a parking lot at a steel plant in LaPlace, about 25 miles west of New Orleans, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said. The second happened when the deputies went to a nearby trailer park to investigate the first shooting and were ambushed by a man armed with what Tregre described as an assault rifle, he said.

In addition to the two wounded deputies, two of the five people taken into custody were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, Louisiana State Trooper Melissa Matey said. Tregre said investigators were still sorting out what role those detained may have had in the shootings.

One of the wounded officers -- whom the sheriff identified as Deputy Scott Boyington -- was shot in the shoulder and is expected to survive, a law enforcement source in Louisiana told CNN. Boyington is awake and talking at University Hospital in New Orleans, according to the source, who was not authorized to speak on the record.

One of the wounded suspects suffered life-threatening injuries, but was expected to survive after treatment at the same hospital, according to the source. The other was being treated at Ochsner Medical Center in the New Orleans suburb of Kenner, Matey said.

Louisiana State Police have taken over the investigation, Tregre said. Although investigators are still working what he described as a "semi-hot scene," they do not believe anyone else involved in the shooting is at large, he said.

Tregre identified the dead as Deputies Brandon Nielsen, 34, and Jeremy Triche, 28. The sheriff's department identified the second wounded deputy as Jason Triche, who is not related to Jeremy Triche, State Trooper Evan Harrell said.

The shootings unfolded around 5 a.m. in the parking lot at the Bayou Steel Plant in LaPlace, when a man opened fire on Boyington, according to the St. John Sheriff's Department.

Despite being shot multiple times, Boyington was able to describe the suspect to dispatchers, Tregre said. That description, along with a civilian report of a speeding car, led responding officers to a nearby trailer park, he said.

As deputies were questioning two people, a man came outside and "ambushed my two officers," Tregre said. Authorities were investigating whether the same weapon was used at both shooting sites, he said.

Pic of the suspect that was on some Rambo shit? When it's us the pic is usually thrown out there before the suspect is in cuffs.

likely the main gunman
would think he's fucked up and could take a mug shot

 They most def lumped him up.

according to one of my deputy friends, there were over 120 armed officers on-location searching for these fucks. as many as 35 - 50 were on-site within 25 minutes.

from the pics, i'm betting that these fucks are hooked on "louisiana ice," a very pure form of crystal meth.

Seven charged in shootings that killed Louisiana police officers

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - Louisiana police have charged seven people in connection with shootings near New Orleans on Thursday that killed two sheriff's deputies at a trailer park and wounded two others, authorities said.

Brian Lyn Smith, 24, of LaPlace was charged with attempted first-degree murder while six others also face charges linked to the violence, St. John Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Dane Clement said on Friday.

The charges stem from a pair of related shootings early on Thursday in and around LaPlace, about 25 miles west of New Orleans, in which a gunman shot and wounded St. John Parish Deputy Michael Scott Boyington, 33, as he performed off-duty work directing traffic at a parking lot for Valero Energy Corp.'s St. Charles refinery, St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said.

The gunman fled, and officers investigating the incident ended up at a trailer park in LaPlace. As they were interviewing two suspects, someone came out of a trailer with an assault weapon and shot dead the two officers and wounded another, Tregre said.

The slain deputies were identified as Brandon Nielsen, 34, and Jeremy Triche, 27, while deputy Jason Triche, 30, was wounded.

All of the charges are in connection with the shooting of Boyington, police said. The investigation into the shootings at the trailer park continues and is being led by the Louisiana State Police.

Those charged include Terry Smith, 44, Derrick Smith, 22, Kyle David Joekel, 28, and Teniecha Bright, 21, all accused of being a principal to attempted first-degree murder, Clement said.

Chanel Skains, 37, and Britney Keith, 23, were charged with accessory after the fact to attempted first-degree murder.

Suspects Brian Lyn Smith and Joekel remain hospitalized with injuries they received in the shooting and will be booked upon release from the hospital, Clement said.

All the suspects were listed as LaPlace residents. Bonds ranging from $350,000 to $750,000 have been set for each. The injured police officers were in stable condition and doing well, Clement said.

Authorities said Joekel was wanted in Kansas and in Nebraska over threats he was accused of making against law enforcement officers. According to the sheriff's office in Gage County, Nebraska, Joekel threatened an officer and led police on a high-speed chase that ended when the car crashed and he escaped on foot.

He is also wanted in Marshall County, Kansas, allegedly for making threats toward law enforcement and escaping on foot after a car chase there, authorities said.

Louisiana State Police spokesman Sergeant Len Marie said several of the suspects have criminal histories and previous arrests, and one was on probation.

Two charged with murder in killings of Louisiana cops

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - Louisiana state police brought first-degree murder charges on Wednesday against two men being held in connection with a pair of shootings near New Orleans in which two police officers were killed, authorities said.

The new charges mean 24-year-old Brian Lyn Smith and 28-year-old Kyle David Joekel could face the death penalty if convicted of killing deputies Brandon Nielsen, 34, and Jeremy Triche, 27.

The officers were investigating the shooting and wounding of deputy Michael Scott Boyington, 33, at around 5 a.m. on August 16 in a Valero Energy Corp refinery parking lot during a shift change. The shooter fled.

While investigating the shooting in LaPlace, about 25 miles west of New Orleans, Nielsen and Triche ended up at a trailer park. St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said that as they were interviewing two suspects, a third person came from a trailer and fatally shot the two officers and wounded deputy Jason Triche, 30.

Smith and Joekel were among seven people charged last Friday in connection with the parking lot shooting.

St. John Parish District Attorney Thomas Dailey said in a statement on Thursday that his office would present the new charges against Smith and Joekel to the grand jury. The next regularly scheduled session of the grand jury is September 4.

The charge of murdering a police officer in the performance of duty automatically carries the death penalty under Louisiana law, according to New Orleans criminal defense lawyer Lindsay Larson. Capital cases must go before a grand jury.

The seven people suspected of being involved in the shootings are in custody at the St. Charles Parish Correctional Center. They include Terry Smith, 44, Derrick Smith, 22, Chanel Skains, 37, Brittney Keith, 23, and Teniecha Bright, 21, who face charges as principals or accessories to murder or attempted murder.

Authorities said Joekel was wanted in Kansas and Nebraska in connection with threats against law enforcement officers.

2 shot to death byofSt. John deputies Jennifer Boquet, The Times-Picayune 08/28/2012 8:49 PM

Two people have been taken to a local hospital after being shot by St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff's deputies in Reserve. St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre said his officers were called to Steven*Drive in Reserve at about 7 p.m. for a report of a disturbance.

He said when they arrived they found a man and a woman involved in a confrontation involving a weapon. Tregre would not say what that weapon was.

"My officers responded and instructed the individual to put the weapon down," Tregre said. "The person refused to do that."

Tregre said the individual with the weapon began to approach the officers, who fired at the person.

"The second person was also armed and came toward officers, who responded with their duty weapons," Tregre said.

Tregre said both the man and woman have been taken to River Parishes Hospital for treatment. Their condition was not immediately known.

Tregre, who was at the scene Tuesday night, said the Sheriff's Office is working with Louisiana State Police to investigate the incident.

"We're still in the middle of a very active investigation," he said.

Tregre said weather conditions from*Hurricane Isaac*were hampering the investigation.

The shootings come*nearly two weeks*after two St. John deputies were shot to death and two more wounded. Seven people have been arrested in those incidents.*
