Maryland is strange, can range from the general Baltimore accent to Trina Braxton's Canadian-sounding accent.
- Cali Valley Girl accent (think the Kim Kardashian)
- That real nasally NYC accent (Rosie Perez, Fran Drescher, Ghostface)
- Real Southern country twang accent (you 'bout to get lynched)
- That Cali accent where they accentuate the Rs
- That Midwest Sarah Palin-style accent
Being born and raised on the east coast, I can usually tell when someone is from DC, Baltimore, Philly, NY or the Bean. There’s a distinct way we speak and my ear usually tends to pick it up, But outside the north east, I swear it all sounds the same to me.
With exception to that LA west coast accent where folks is calling each other marks or busters, I can’t tell the difference of anywhere else.
Texas sounds like Memphis, that sounds like Florida that sounds like Chicago. Just country. All about ham hocks and black-eyed peas.

in the part 2 of that video series, I thought the white dude got the white New Orleans accent down pretty good, didn't go too heavy that it sounds like Chalmette but a pretty good general example of what whites sound like in the Greater New Orleans area.
I can tell where their from because of their accent which is really strong when they say certain words,they drag em like the word "Do" the people from bmore say "deeeeww" and that's the dead give away right there and it's not as bad for people from DC or Mass but they do slur their words just not as pronounced as bmore people.
As far as southern accents I don't know cause it depends you just know their not from where your from but in 2022 there's so many transplants til you don't know;Like I always wondered about places like Kentucky,Oklahoma,ST.Louis,Arkansa and those places southern from what I see
Idk what it is man.. maybe it’s the drawl or the country twang but the moment I hear it, I categorize it all under the same tree. As for DC, we got our own slang but the accent is almost like “errywhere else Moe.”
Maybe that’s what it is. The most recent “southern” place I was in was Memphis and I loved it out there. Folk showed love but they was quick to tell you that Memphis ain’t the south but the mid-south. I was like,”what’s the difference??” They was like, “we talk different..” and I’m like, “yaw do?! I’ll be damned.”

I love the way Black people from different parts of the country and the world talk. I was talking with TEN one day and asked him if he could tell the difference between Black people and white people from England or Britain over the phone. He said he can tell. Same way we can tell over here. I asked because one day when I was watching NatGeo Wild the narrator had to fly from one end of the reserve to another. It was at that point he turned to camera and it was a Black man in his early 30's. To me he sounded like James Bond. I thought it was a white dude.
