Speaking to Minty Bets of Yahoo Sportsbook, former NFL quarterback Brett Favre said that even though he played in a different era, he would let things work out on its own instead of taking Watson’s approach of trying to force a trade.

“I’m kind of old school,” Favre said. “You get paid a ton of money to do a certain job and just do it and let the chips fall where they may. I think we make too much money to voice an opinion, but I’m not saying he’s wrong. I think it’s a different day and time, and it’ll be interesting to see how the organization handles it.”

Of course, the irony here is that Favre forced his way out of Green Bay, briefly retiring in 2008 to compel the Packers to get rid of him. Green Bay traded Favre to the New York Jets for one completely forgettable season. The following year, Favre left the Jets for the Minnesota Vikings for his final two years in the NFL.

Watson, who signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension in September, has seen his relationship with the Texans go downhill, requesting a trade before the Houston Texans hired David Culley as their new head coach. Watson has also reportedly thought about sitting out the 2021 season if the Texans don’t trade him.

Watson led the league in passing in 2020, throwing for 4,823 yards. Watson also threw 33 touchdowns compared to seven interceptions.

The Texans have said that they do not want to trade Watson. However, if the Texans decide to change their mind, the team could receive several high draft picks for years to come, allowing the team to rebuild.

Brett Favre Is Getting Criticized For His Deshaun Watson Opinion

Brett Favre may be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time, but nobody can forget how much offseason drama he gave teams in his final seasons. So it should be no surprised that some media members are ready to call him out for a seemingly hypocritical take he has on Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson.

Speaking to Yahoo! Sports this week, Favre admonished Watson for wanting out of Houston since he’s being paid to do his job. He made the bold claim that NFL players “make too much money to voice an opinion.”

Favre may have forgotten that he put the Green Bay Packers in a similar situation when he retired in 2008. The Packers were forced to trade him to the New York Jets when he unretired.

As a result, NJ.com called Favre out for that with an article entitled, “Hypocrite Brett Favre calls out Texans’ Deshaun Watson for requesting trade, even though he forced Packers to deal him to Jets.”

That’s mighty white of Farve and McShay

You see it.

Always the money when it comes to black athletes. Ever the love of the game.

How come no one criticizes Kurt cousins and watches his pockets? Oh I forget Kurt's a hard working lunchbox type of guy, first one to practice and last one to leave. Family guy that loves the lord.

Deshawn is infatuated with hip hop, multiple hoes and likes to floss :smh:

Are we shocked by his behavior. This is the same Brett Favre that threw Javon Walker under the bus when he was trying to get his money. Let that sink in.

It's okay to get your money but when your best reciever at the time was trying to do the same thing it's a problem.

He then held the organization hostage by not deciding whether he wants to come back or not.

Lets not start, how the media completely swept his sexual harrassment case under the rug.

Can you imagine, if a black player threw his teammate under the bus, held an organization hostage, forced that same organization to trade him and sexual harrassed a woman on his new team. His ass wouldn't even sniff the Hall of Fame.

Do you think this will get brought up casually like how Boomer Esiason brings up Ray Lewis' murder?

I don’t see what he said was wrong. He signed a contract. The NFL is a sport that you may never win. The reason he stated he wanted a trade was sketchy
