Nexus 7 Review

Please point me to an article where Android users are pointing out that not having those I/O ports are an issue?

I can point to many a threads where BGOL android fanatics made not having these I/O ports on Apple devices a huge fucking issue :hmm:

I do not see similar outcry now when Google releases it's first tablet :hmm:

Anyways I've made my point. Fuck this shit!!!

iPad TapaTalk

The article in the first post. The reviewer is not happy about not having extra space. Check articles on endgadget and bgr. You will see comments from people that are not happy about this. Its what prevents people from buying it. I've already said, the Samsung galaxy tab 2 7" is the better option because it can take a 64gb card. And its only $250.

With the iPad/iOS devices, according to Android fanatics, it is.

Now with Nexus, it's no longer an issue

It's all good: No expandable (SD slot), no HDMI out...It's all good!!! Nexus 7 is the best tablet, light years ahead of the iPad ;)

Didn't they (Android fanatics) ether the hell out of iPad and iPhone for lacking these same features ;)

The difference is it's a $200.00 dollar tablet. For the price of a iPad I better get those features. That's how most Android fans feel. If you can't see that you are just dumb as fuck or a apple dick rider. I betting that you are a rider.

How much is it to add those features? Can't be more than 10 dollars on the cost side.

The fact is, it's used as a point of debate as to why apple is fucked up - because you can't expand the memory. Also the flash issue.

Now google follows suit, so that point is taken away.

It's simple though - buy what you want. And that's it.

Shit I may get the nexus simply because it'll be updated and it's cheap. Got a 10" iPad and then a 7" nexus. Super portable.

i hear u. it all boils down to what u want.

but again for me... no sd card or hdmi in a $250 device...ok.
no sdcard or hdmi in a $600 device is no bueno.

aside from havin a much bigger/better appmarket, how deos apple justify being $400+ more than this nexus 7?

Is an SD Card slot really a "luxury"? There are cheap tablets on the market (sub $100) with SD Card slots...

in this context a luxury is defined as a feature that i want but dont necessarily NEED. so yea sd storage is a luxury that i can live without.

Yea I see them as luxuries as well. More so the HDMI. I have never wanted to plug-in my tablet.. but have used the Airplay on several occasions..

airplay requires appletv. so now u took ur $600 tablet and turned it into a $700 tablet just to get it to do what u want it to do.

You will never get an answer to this.

i know. its hilarious.

divine talking about more memory just means more crap as if having less memory is some kind of benefit to the user.

if i were buying a tab right now, i'd take this over the ipad based on value.

please tell me what benefits the ipad offers over this thing to justify a $400 price bump.

Right now, apart from the screen size, and better ecosystem (for now), really none. :smh:

Just being honest. :smh:

Google and Amazon are doing a GREAT job building up their own ecosystem, and making their tablets more attractive and alternatives to what Apple offers, and I like this direction: More options

They used to bitch about having to jailbreak the iPhone proclaiming you should not have to do that. Now rooting is commonplace.

Rooting is done just to run custom roms. The iPhone has to be jailbroken to do basic customization.

Your insults mean nothing at all my man. Just having a simple back and forth argument

So just pointing out my observations makes me a "Apple dick rider"?

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I'm so hurt :hmm:

I am just a fan of technology seeking answers...

Pleasantries :D

"It has no HDMI port, no microSD...but it's okay, it is cheaper than an iPad, so a win for Android and Google"

Most times I read articles on CNET, BGR, Engadget and even 9to5Mac, but I generally never read the comments which is maybe why I have not seen the outcry.

If that's the case why does apple charge so much for its display adaptors and HDMI adaptors. Better yet any adaptor because even the damn socket plug for the iPhone and iPod Touch is $28+.

Yeah. You won't see the outcry in the actual articles because the writers try to remain neutral. But not everyone is excited about this tablet.

I swear ya'll must be against streaming. I have a Galaxy Nexus and I still have 8GB free. Max Payne, NBA Jam, Grand Theft Auto and some productivity aps. All my music is on GoogleMusic, so I still have access to my 45GB of music at home.

For those of you that say the price doesnt matter when it comes to features, it does. Every extra connection that is on a tablet costs money. Its like options on a car. The bottom line is, this is the first major 200 pure Android tablet with specs of some higher priced ones. Streaming is big on Android, thats what you Apple fans don't get. It coincides with the Nexus series being sans a SD slot, Google wants its users to stream, which is what I do and still have half my room left on my phone.

But it's a 7-inch tablet, not a 10-inch tablet. People buy it for portability. People want their content on the go. With all these greedy bastards trying to crack down on data use, people will fuck up their data plans trying to stream all their shit. If it wasn't for these greedy fucks eliminating unlimited data, people wouldn't have to worry about an SD card slot in a 7-inch tablet that can fit in their gym shorts.

Google just wants people to buy shit in the fucking play store. I get it. But not including a SD slot in a 7-inch tablet is just stupid.

Hers a good one

This sort of proves your point but at the same time, shows that android users are not happy.

Thanks.

At the end of the day, it really baffles me that Google will completely ignore what it's fan base really wants and loves, to promote their own agenda, which is to push Google Play. :smh:

If they wanted to, they could have had Asus include if only a micro SD slot on the Nexus 7, but my belief is that they chose not to do that mainly because they want to promote Google Play.

Me, like many.. think 7 inch screen is too small and awkward.

apple is developing a 7" ipad.

so the 3" size difference justifies a $400 price bump? im sure u do know how dumb that sounds.

If that rumor turns out to be true, there will be a market for both sizes. But the fact remains, some people aren't interested in a 7" tablet, and some are.

The iPad 2 is $399, so that would be a $200 cost difference ASSUMING the rumor that a 7" iPad will be $200 is true.

stop being a fucking dummy.

why are u comparing the ipad 2 to the nexus 7 when theres a new ipad out?

the new ipad is already behind the nexus in the processor department if im not mistaken so why would u go even further back?

here's an idea of how the tegra 3 in the nexus (similar to tegra 3 in the transformer prime) lines up with the a5 or a5x in the ipads. $400 price bump for older specs and worse performance.

screen-shot-2012-03-30-at-1-42-42-pm.png

Tegra 3′s quad-core configuration blazes past the dual-core A5X, garnering GeekBench scores of 1540 and 750, respectively. Interestingly, the A5X’s average score fell a few points short of the iPad 2′s standard A5 chip, 753. Both the A5X and the A5 also fell shy of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1′s Tegra 2, which received an overall score 905. The gains made by the Tegra 3 are easily chalked up to its two extra cores, but it is also boasts the highest clocking speed of the group at 1.6GHz, compared to the 1GHz clock of the A5X, A5 and Tegra 2.

No, why are you comparing the Nexus 7 to the *new* Retina iPad. If you must compar a LOW end Nexus 7 to an iPad, a more realistic comparison would be to the iPad which is still being sold by Apple. So, you can get a brand new iPad 2 for $399. DUMMY. No one is comparing processors.. we are talking about 7 in vs 9.7 inch.

for the sake of argument we'll just say... much slower processor and slightly bigger screen for around $200 or $400 more...depending on the model.

sounds hot to me.

Shut the fuck up you lil bitch. We were comparing the Galaxy 10.1 and the iPad. Same EXACT class...and neither has an HDMI.

I'm confused.. they both have proprietary ports and both manufacturers sell an adapter for HDMI. I think the one difference is that adapter for the iPad doesn't allow for 1080p movies

Indeed. We were just talking about 'included ports' that some make a big deal about. Its not a big deal to most people.. because most people don't want to be 'wired' with a mobile device.

Yes... and most people don't care about processor speed - even the new iPad retina is behind new tabs in that area. Its a non-issue. That's a very small demographic who worry about things like that. So for those who think 9.7" screen is better for them versus a 7" screen will pay the difference.

which leads me back to my original point.

$200 - $400 more for a bigger screen.

stupid to me but maybe on point for somebody else.

Have you actually tried it though? Not go to to the store and look at it but really try it. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab plus and I love it. In my opinion 7 inches is almost the perfect size for a tablet, especially if portability is a necessity, as it is with me. I can pull out my laptop if I need a bigger screen.

Don't knock the size unit you really try it.

which bring me back to mine, some people are not interested in a smaller tablet and some are. So those who want a bigger tablet they will pay 200-400 for it. That's why Samsung has. 7.1 and 10.1

I tried it in store and think its an awkward size.
