Nexus 5X and 6P first impressions videos are out!

OP, how are you getting it so soon when I ordered on 9/29 and it says Oct.30-Nov. 3?

I may need to change "should" to "hope".. mine says 10/28-10/30 but my card was charged on Friday meaning it's about to ship.

Same for others on Reddit and many who ordered the 5X in white or black got shipment emails this morning.

Also, for new orders on the Google Store it says 'leaves warehouse by Oct 22'. It said Oct 19 last week

Gotcha. I pre-ordered the 6p instead of the 5X. Been holding on to my Nexus 5 for two years.

I hear you.. ready to upgrade my Nexus 4 after 3 years

6P probably won't ship until next week at the earliest. All variants except the Black 32GB are sold out and that one says it ships in 3-4 weeks

Are you guys doing project fi?

i had a talk with Project Fi(p.Fi)them a month back, you cant take your google voice number is issue #1, then you cant even use your existing number to forward to the p.Fi number im like ill pass ive been on google voice since before they bought grandcentral. No way in h3ll i can let go of that.. and im not so sure about that pay per use on data, maybe if it had a cap....

Yeah, that's the main issue I've heard. I am wondering if it will be okay for me since I don't use Google voice anymore. Kinda worried about the reception though.

Project fi told me move your google voice number into another gmail account then you can port your number. The Deal breaker for me is sprint and tmobile are making connections from project fi slower.

mine just shipped

$429 is really tempting, especially since they seem to have gotten the camera right.

Those look great, especially since the majority seem to be low light.

This is impressive and lacking slow motion was one of my issues with my Nexus 5.

yea but that guy told me you still cant add the new P.fi number to that old google number but he said they would work on it if they had enough complaints. I was left with the impression my gvoice number would be voicemail only if I went went P.fi

I'm going to need a review from you. Because everything I see and hear sounds like this shit is a slight upgrade over the nexus 5

I got a Nexus 5 and its time to move on. Been two years and its still performing well, but starting to run out of space, etc. I"m going 6p though instead of the 5x. For the price of either, you can't go wrong and I like to purchase them outright instead of leasing phones.

It probably is.. I'm coming from a Nexus 4 though. 2 years ago, I decided to skip the N5 because it wasn't a substantial upgrade over what I had.

Just received my black 32GB 5X a couple hours ago. Not doing a review, just some observations as I come across certain things.

I knew beforehand that this phone only came with a USB-C to USB-C cable in the box. I bought 2 USB-C to USB-A cords from Amazon so I can connect to my PC and power adapters I have around the house. The provided power adapter only accepts USB-C.

Initial setup:

- First thing I always do on my Nexus devices is unlock the bootloader (because it wipes the phone). This is a requirement if I decide to root later. Google doesn't really care as it relates to warranty. On this phone, annoying thing is that a warning is displayed each time I reboot.

- Fingerprint setup took just a few seconds. Using it is pretty damn fast and accurate

- I also set up Smart Lock so I don't have to use the fingerprint/PIN when I'm at home, connected to my car bluetooth or the phone is in my pocket.

Initial observations:

- Just bought the wife a 2014 Moto X a few weeks ago and the animations seem just a bit more fluid than the N5X. Notice I said fluid... it's not any faster.

- Compared to the rear speaker on my Nexus 4, the front-facing speaker sucks. Doesn't get loud enough and has no bass.

- Both the N4 and Moto are higher quality than the N5X. N4 is the highest quality phone I've owned BUT it always stayed in a case and so will the N5X

- I don't take many pictures nor am I a camera geek (don't even own one). But this camera produces some pretty damn sharp pics

The bottom speakers on my N5 is one of the few complaints that I've got so this kind of sucks.

Also the build quality is something to consider before purchasing.

I had the N4 and had the N5 since it dropped and the speakers was the first thing I noticed about the phone. Quality of the 5X is another reason why I decided to move up to the 6p. My N4 still looks brand new cause it was always in a case.

Neither Nexus supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge feature like alot of other phones but they do have fast charging capability with USB-C

Charging the 5X for just 25 mins gave me over 50% (13 up to 65%)

UPDATE:

Bought an Aluminum 64GB 6P last Sunday and it arrived at my house on Wed. Surprisingly, I received mine faster than people who preordered over a month ago.

Been using it since Fri night and it fixes 2 main gripes I have with my 5X. Performance is noticeably quicker and smoother on the 6P. Battery life on the 5X wasn't much better than my 3 year old Nexus 4. I get drastically more life out of the 6P (at least 5 hours screen on).

Still getting used to the size but it isn't as large compared to the 5X as I thought it'd be. Other than the 5X, this is my first phone larger than 5". I really do wish the top/bottom bezels were smaller like some Motorolas.

I called Google earlier in the week to initiate a return on my 5X before the return policy was up. That'll give me a few extra days to compare the 2 but I think the 6P is a keeper...

I have the Note 5 now. I had the Nexus 6 previously which I really enjoyed but figured two months ago it was time to upgrade before I even knew when the Nexus 6P was coming out. I like the Note 5 but I rarely use the stylus which is a huge key for going with the Note line. I liked the Nexus 6 because there were no physical buttons, same with the Nexus 6P. I hate that both the Note 5 and the Nexus 6P have these slimmed down quinoa & couscous, vegan shapes. They're tall which I like but width wise they're thinner. I may just stick with the Note 5 because even though the Nexus 6P doesn't have any physical buttons which is a plus for me the form factor is still pretty much the same.

Had mines for about a week now. Previously coming from the Nexus 5 here are my observations:
- Design. My Nexus 5 felt like a toy compared to this. I never had a case for it and worked fine. This thing is much heavier and feels expensive with the aluminium body. Will definitely need a case for this one.
- Battery Life is superb can get 6 or more hours of music, videos, etc. in a charge. Plus it hardly uses any battery life when idle. So if I don't charge it overnight it barely uses any battery.
- Fast Charging. shit charges up so damn fast. I can plug it in for 15 mins and add hours to my battery life
- Speakers. One of my main gripes was the speakers on the Nexus 5 were weak as fuck. These speakers sound so much better and louder
- Performance is fluid, no hiccups on anything
- Fingerprint sensor. I know some people didn't like that the sensor is located on the back, but I find it works perfectly and fast. I set up fingerpints for left and right and works perfectly taking it out of my pocket to check it.
- Camera. This shit is the best ever for Nexus. Shit takes extremely great picture in low light HDR at night takes great pictures. Google really stepped up in their weakest area to address this.
- Size. I was thinking this would feel like a phablet coming from the Nexus 5, but its just a lil longer than my previous phone and feels good in my hand. Other may not like that it is thin and not wide, but I prefer that since I didn't want a block for a phone e.g. Note.

Overall, this is is best Nexus phone yet and a big upgrade from the previous models. Google addressed all of the major flaws and knocked it out the park with the 6p.

What do y'all think about it after a few months of use?

I've been running the 6P for the last month and can honestly say this is best phone I've owned in quite some time. The build feels solid and the speed & responsiveness are incredible. I plan on rocking it for the next 1.5-2yrs so hopefully it ages well.

Still going strong. Been rocking a thin case since day 1 so it still looks new. I haven't run into any of the quality issues (bending, scratches, screen color, etc.) like some have reported on Reddit and XDA.

First phone I haven't rooted and I've gotten 3 updates.

Been stocking up on USB-C accessories and I don't really have to worry about battery life with how fast it charges.

No issues to report but I really wish more apps would support the fingerprint sensor

Careful on those accessories, some can apparently fuck up your phone :smh:
