NEW YORK STATE POLICE HEADQUARTERS SEES FIRST OF AGENCY'S NEW GRAY PATROL CARS
The New York State Police is transitioning to gray patrol vehicles for the first time in four decades. It was announced that the agency has opted for the change for the first time since 1983. The new color will coincide with the gray uniform trypically worn by New York State Troopers. State Police Sergeant Jack Keller recently explained during a news interview that the actual color of the New York State Police uniform is black-white woven. "The idea is that we're suppose to be neutral." The new gray patrol cars will slowly phase in throughout the state as existing patrol vehicles are retired. No current vehicles will be re-painted, authorities said. The change is expected to save the state approximately $500 - $600 per vehicle according to a report. The first and so far the only gray car is number H201 assigned to State Police Headquarters in Albany.
