New York is A different world

The 3 Train: A New Subway Hub, Accessible Stations And A Possible Extension
Urban Life NYC
October 24, 2026

For more than a century, the 3 and L trains in Brooklyn have crossed right over each other with no direct transfer. That’s finally changing.

In this video, I take a closer look at the projects transforming the 3 train: the new Junius St–Livonia Av subway hub with a 205-foot pedestrian bridge and five elevators, the new accessible station house at New Lots Av, and the long-shelved idea of extending the 3 train beyond New Lots Avenue, all the way from the 1922 Hylan plan to the MTA’s 2023 20-Year Needs Assessment.

Inaugural Run, The Last 40 Feet Of Elevated On Lines 4 & 5 HO Scale Model Railroad
The NYC&C Scale Model Railroad
October 13, 2026

The inaugural run on the last 40 feet of track on the 4 & 5 lines of the elevated heading into the city . . . circling the yard in Hoboken, going through Brooklyn, past the harbor, and then along East River, over FDR Drive, and then into midtown approaching what will become a station.

Only the track and structures have been done on these two lines at this point . . . no details . . . no 3rd rail yet . . . I'll get to all that.

But it runs!

And I temporarily set up the auto reverse system so it runs by itself, stopping just before what will be the station.

And of course, the rest of the layout is still under construction as well.

A couple of areas along the back walls are complete, but much of the other areas just have things temporarily set there as placeholders and so that area doesn't look so blank.

But that's the fun of it!!! (Also, I can adjust it to stop inside the station once its built, but for now I wanted wide margins!).

I also ran some trains on lines 1, 2, & 3 just for background in the video. If you watch, I hope you enjoy!
