New Movie Trailer: One Battle After Another - Leonardo DiCaprio, Paul Thomas Anderson Unite With Guns Blazing in First Footage

Movie was good, but I think it was too long. At 2 hours and 50 minutes i feel like it could have been cutdown to about 2 hours and 30 minutes and not miss a beat.

Sean Penn had to be on something (TRT, Peptides, or something)
Teyana Taylor was great, wish she was in the movie a lot more. Honestly I could see how her and Leo got "together" because she was all over him all movie long.
Benicio Del Toro was good. His character wasn't really involved in the MAIN storyline but he was good.
I told my son how old Regina Hall was and he didn't believe me. He thought she was in her 30s. Once again...black dont crack  :inlove:
If you like Satires, this movie is on the nose, but it still delivers a powerful message. Also the fact that Asssata Shakur passes away when this movie came is not lost on me.

Haha. Great write up. It was definitely tripped out to come home from the flick and see that Assata had transitioned (blessings)

Movie wise —
I’m surprised I haven’t seen the “could have been cutdown” note more. Very surprised to be honest that so many are actually saying how fast it felt.

10-20mins is potentially a good amount of run time (2-5 scenes).
So, I’m curious as to if you have a few in mind that you might lose? Could also be scenes/sequences you feel run long….

I think that chase with Benicio and DIcaprio could have been shorter. Just would have cut some scenes back here and there and made it a little tighter. Like dude walking down the long hallway to get to the secret society meeting where they told him about Lockjaw's child. I don't mind watching long movies, but I don't want to feel like a movie im watching could have been shorter.

PS> I love Christopher Nolan movies, but Oppenheimer could have been 30 minutes shorter as well.

Is dude saying A) the movie is gross or B) that it’s depicting real world gross shit?

Or C), is the title just rage/clickbait and dude saying something else entirely lol
He was saying it's gross. Especially to black women. He did this live and then did another 40 mins on it. I think he's taking it literally (he really got bent out of shape on Junglepussy until finding out that that's her rapper name IRL). I don't know..i disagree with him and i haven't gone back to see if it's been ammended (he said he would change his opinion if he was reading it wrong) but I think it's satirical in similar fashion to Bamboozled or Undercover Brother.

he is just being overly moist as he usually is

sometimes I swear FD would happily wear a fake pussy just so he can "empathize" with non-cisgendered women

I like FD but i disagree with him on a few things. He's a lot easier to digest than his friend "lil bill" but i respect that he does try to toe the line and call it down the middle when it comes to his manosphere content because he lit Jada Pinkett up in one of his vids. He also did a cool video about Mental Health when Marc Lamont Hill was talking about things he was going through on the JBP.

Sean Penn deserves an award for his role. Regina is FINE. The story was somewhat unbelievable in some parts, but it's a damn movie not a documentary. The young female was stale and I just didn't believe her. Her acting chops reminded me Denzel's wife from Spikes latest movie:lol: I don't get the "great" critic reviews. It was worth seeking this on the big screen though. That waving on the road scene is like a roller coaster. :lol2:

Finally saw it this weekend...

Definitely one of my favorite flicks of the last decade...and right up there as one of my favorite PTA films next to Boogie Nights and There will be Blood.

For me, it was entertaining, edifying and inspiring. I love the fact that this flick about revolutionaries fighting a white nationalistic, fascist regime wasn't a period piece set in the 60's or 70's....it wasnt set in a science fiction dystopian world in the future...Nah this shit is in the NOW and timely and relevant today.

I had a couple minor critiques regarding a desire for deeper exposition with some characters/storylines.... but it couldn't be possible with a flick that's already almost 3 hours long. some of the dialogue at spots felt inauthentic and felt like it might not have been written by black writers. or maybe they were just staying true to the dialogue from the 90's novel this was based on

Aside from that...Cast and Performances were great, Sean Penn played the hell outta his role and masterfully toed that line of Parody/caricature and Menacing villan. Regina Hall was dope and always demonstrates how much range she has an actress. Leo captured that stoner, paranoia, and helplessness...Teyanna was a commanding presence. I'm hyperprotective and hypersensitive about how black women are portrayed so I can get it if some people felt sone kind of way about what seemed to be like black women were being painted with a broad brush of the 2 outta the 4 typical tropes (mainly the sapphire and jezebel tropes) but I sat with it and understood what made that certain character behave in that manner...and there was much more complexity shown with other sistas.

Cinematography was off the hook, the chase scenes were harrowing in different ways...can't believe that scene in the hills was never done before.

Definitely gonna watch it again and keep it in my collection.
