New Edition biopic - this actually looks interesting!!

Those wee there performance gear because thwy would perform with rock and R&B groups. That was not their street wear and most rap artist back then was not wearing those things.
Yes, but still that homo shit was being forced in our faces during that era, and the main stream media was 100% behind that bullshit!

So, what makes their show great? The musicianship? Are they still performing?
That, and they were great entertainers. It was in their blood. Their dad was a musician. Raphael and Dwayne don't fuck with each other, so no band. Their dad once said he'd love to see the guys get back together, because he's getting older, and Raphael was like, "Sorry, pops. Ain't happening."

Can't wait until this shit is streaming somewhere..... these dudes have some of the first songs I remember really digging.

Lol @ bootleg Jaime Foxx in the beginning... I did a double take.

Why they fall out?

Hayden doing that jacket over the shoulder move

and i had thought that one member of Whytegyz was Brian Austin Green(90210/Megan Fox's husband))
It kills me when he does that move lol. It gets even more funny when you compare whiteguys vocals to Boyz 2 Men vocals lol.

Why the FUCK did they/do they continue fucking with Bobby Brown, dude burned them over and over again. That scene where they were on the stage he wasn't even onstage with the rest of the group he got to be introduced to the stage and then got a set by himself..WTF
Bobby started the group.

This is in elementary AND from the same housing project.

Roots ran deep.
i remember when those cats used to stay on godby rd
:eek2::eek2::eek2:
Man watching this shit was GREAT. But man I came out of it understanding Bobby.

He deserved to be kicked out of the group don't get me wrong but this cat got kicked out of the group and became bigger than ALL OF THEM put together. I know you couldn't tell him shit. I think Don't Be Cruel did what like 5 or 6 times platinum or some shit? Imagine being the dude that everyone pretty much alienated.....go back to the hood and start doing hood shit and snorting booger sugar.....then someone hits you up and say we owe you a solo album and that shit ends up being bigger than life. You already thought you should've been the lead singer and then you become the biggest singer in the world? Shit man I get it.

Ralph got fucked over in all of this. I feel like Don't BE Cruel was suppose to be Ralph's album. MAybe not though. That had the edge of Bobby in it. Ralph went more of the more softer route with his shit but you never know if that was because Bobby dropped first or if he just planned on making that music.
Great minds...:itsawrap:
The movie was an instant classic. New Edition contributed alot to the industry and set the mold for many artists that followed. I always said Bobby Brown was responsible for raunchifying R&B (if thats even a word..lol), bringing girls on stage and acting a fool. The template gave birth to the Ginuwines and the Chris Browns of the industry. The MJ influence in all of them. Where Mike had more class with his live performances, Brown took the energy in different direction. BBD also set a blueprint (1 lead, 1 rapper, 1 singer format), TLC was the product of their influence.

Comparing Whitney Houston to Janet Jackson/Madonna is like comparing apples to oranges...

You are talking about a woman that came up on ballads (Greatest love of all, etc) VS. the bubblegum pop music of Janet and Madonna....Not to take away from any of them, because they are all great at what they do, but thats not even a contest.

On a side note, some these cats forget a woman's status is the summation of many things. Talent, looks, elegance, etc...All of that sets the stage for a quality woman (i.e. Lena Horne in her prime). I'm sure there were women that looked better than Lena and/or even sang better than her, but she put all the facets together and made it work.

I can't think of too many women in that era that looked better than Lena or sing better than Lena, much less both in the same person.

Judy Garland got who she was from Lena. That tells you all you need to know.

 I don't think that shit was necessary lol. I wonder did any of those people drop? I know Boyz 2 Men did and BBD and ABC. Had a lot of acts on there.

Crazy shit is Yvette ended up playing Michael Bivins mom in the movie.

You forgot about MC Brains, who had that "Oochie Coochie" song.

Tam Rock had a hot song "Bozack (Listen Closely)" but after that, nothing. I personally think it was a waste, cause she had it to be probably the second female rap star (after Da Brat).

Those Whiteguys changed their names like 5 times. They had a little buzz as Sudden Impact but that's about it.

Rico is Rico Wade, the producer guy.

Lady V is better known as Val Young, she's been around since like P-Funk days.

And I don't know why they wasn't on this track, but Subway & 702 were both Biv 10 groups as well.

Naw that's not Rico Wade lol. Rico Wade looks nothing like that. But damn I forgot he did have 702 and Subway.......I'm reading on Biv 10 and it looks like he was managing alot of these artists not actually signed to his label. Damn..........that Boyz 2 Men money would've been long. He pretty much was a A&R for Motown it looks like.

Wonder whatever happened to Cale and Big Ant(dude with the motorcycle ramp hairdo  ) also saw the name Khalil but the guy never showed up in the video

Word, didn't know Jeffrey Osborne was in a group before he went solo.

o_O

I remmber that. WAsn't a good look at all for Whitney. Bobby did look more tame then her. I remember that scene where she was talking about being constipated and Bobby having to go and get the shit man..........

Yeah...when I saw that shit I turned the tv. Couldn't watch after that.
That shit was like...meeting your idol. Not that they were to me but that overall feeling of disappointment you would get...yeah...

Like it.
Glad Ricky got clean. Had NO FREAKIN CLUE

Mike was an asshole. Hope he got over that.

Ralph was a pussy. And I mean that in the nicest way. He even let his wife have whatever she wanted. I just wanted to reach through the tv and slap him. Stand up for yourself dammit.

I wonder if he will release that "Living the Dream"? If that track was real...shit was dope.

I never really got the whole story about that. All I know is that Dwayne crossed Raph some way, but I don't know how.

Aint them dude biological brothers? It has to be over big money or a woman. Unfortunate, they were a very talented group and got a bunch of classic songs.

I agree about Whitney. I would've rather known her as a icon but instead on that show I got something I Didn't need to see.

You think Mike was a asshole and Ralph was pussy? I don't know I didn't get that from them in the movie. Mike kind of flexed on Ralph in that one interview but the way the movie made it out was they kept testing Mike because he was the smallest one. They kept treating him like little brother.

I think I am going to regret this, but what exactly do yall mean when yall said Bobby had to get the shit?

Looking at the show the 2nd time with my daughter, a few things occurred to me, when they had the show and Bobby hogged up the stage and wanted to shoot the fire hoes at BBD, a lot of that would have been avoided if instead of acting like competitors they co-operated more, for example they could have let Bobby sing Mr Telephone man, and how dope would it have been if Bobby were to join BBD on stage.
Like most young and immature black men, they seem to not be able to communicate their feelings and instead of addressing issues they often would sit on it allowing it to grow then explode.

Ralph was loyal to a fault. When they was kids, it was commendable. As they got older, it became sad. I don't fault him for it - it's a nice character trait to have. I'm just saying at some point as a PERSON, as a MAN, you gotta stand up for yourself. The icing on the cake was when he didn't stand up to his wife during the divorce scene. It's a pattern with him, and you can't go through life like that all the time.

Mike ended up doing what was done to him when he became an executive. Saying the same shit, "But did you read the contract?" That's an asshole. I don't think he was that much of an ass to NE, simply because he was learning and just knew something had to change. But when it got to the end...yeah...it seem pretty assholeish how he's treating his 'clients'.

Dem dudes been through a lot though. And still touring. I commend them for coming out the other side in tact.

What did Toni Tony Tone Fall outs about?

Ralph is sensitive. So sensitive he sung a song about it to the world.

My sister came over last night and we watch episode 2 and 3. I said the same thing about Michael Bivins doing the same thing to his Artist as was done to him. It is a trend, a very sad Trend in music. Whatever our get their own label and their own list of talent instead of doing better by their artists may end up screwing over there artists the same way they were screwed over.

I can sing, but I never really took my shot. I remember when I sign for Eric Benet at his concert in Cleveland and he gave me as manager's number and I didn't call. I wonder what would have become of me. Would it have been the standard first album hot, second album lukewarm third album okay A Greatest Hits and bye bye godofwine?

Don't really know. All I know is Dwayne crossed Raph some kinda way.
Over a girl or over money? Its usually one of the two. Sometimes it's Petty, like somebody to talk to a girl that you wanted to talk to and that you had a crush on but never had the nerve to talk to her. Sometimes with money it's your partner getting a deal on the side to make twice what you make
