New Edition biopic - this actually looks interesting!!

This is the standard for biopic music tv movies or mini series.

I can't believe that BET did this

This whole movie is a testament.

Get yours!

The people who were relying on others lost at the end.

With that being said, still gotta know when enough is enough.

Ralph gave too much. Lost.

Ricky gave too much. Lost.

Bobby did too much. Won. Bobby kept doing too much. Look at all the loss around him.

Johnny did enough and was able to stretch his career.

Mike did enough and was able to move into another lane.

Ronnie did enough and secured what he had.

I understand Ralph though. He was loyal. Bobby put the group together. Bobby didn't even really want to be out the group, he just wanted to be the front man.

crazy that none of them had fathers in their lives.

New Edition story was great only the 5 Heartbeats is comparable.

What's often neglected about New Edition is they're the bridge between Motown R&B and current hip hop R&B. Without them Hip Hop music may not have transitioned into mainstream America as effortlessly.

Remember they were rapping on bubble gum R&B pop songs in early 80s. Girls were not listening to run dmc but they loved BBD and Bobby Brown. They made hip hop appear safe enough for America. Under appreciated

If this is the direction they're going then they've got a viewer back.
only thing i could tolerate on the channel was real husbands of hollywood, everything else isn't geared towards me
but they can take their time and do the biopics right like this?
they can have hits every few months because there's a whole era of unsung groups that are interesting..

imagine if they did jodeci next?

or the logical one would be boyz II men since they were in here...

just keeping it going.

Hoyz II men story isnt a drama filled one.no one really wants to see that. jodeci was a better idea

I'm laughing at this right here (Let the conspiracies from niggas trying to make money off this commence):

1990s R&B SHOCKER: Bobby Brown Was TOO HIGH . . . And So Ralph Tresvant Was The Person . . . That Actually Sang ‘EVERY LITTLE STEP’!!

January 28, 2017: We all know, especially after watching the BET New Edition special that Ralph Tresvant and Bobby Brown were really good friends.

Well according to Bobby’s then-manager, Steven Machat, Ralph did the ultimate Friend move – he stepped in and sang for Bobby on one of his biggest hits.

Bobby’s manager claims that Bobby got so HIGH ON DRUGS, during the recording of Every Little Step, that he couldn’t sing – and that his homie Ralph stepped in and sang for him.

Here are Steven’s exact words, via DazedDigital:

“We did not have a full album because Bobby was not capable of finishing more songs. The beginning and last tracks of the album I did with MCA A&R Louis Silas so the album would be filled with numbers. The song ‘Don’t Be Cruel’ is on there three times! Silas begged Babyface and L.A Reid to produce it – Bobby did not show up at the studio. He only came by sometimes to try to sing. And that was an endless wait. Drugs were part of the make-up of this album. Bobby was missing from the studio when we were scheduled to finish ‘Every Little Step’.

He was on a drug run and New Edition’s Ralph Tresvant was waiting for him. Babyface and L.A were about to leave, so Ralph filled in.

‘Every Little Step’ has two singers. Bobby and Ralph. Go back and listen to the lead vocals. Then listen to Ralph.”

Here is the song, listen to it – it does kinda sound like Ralph in some parts. HOLY SH*T!!

Saw an interesting quote online comparing NE to the Temptations
After watching the Temptations movie, they're really a lot similarities between the two groups. The business man that never sings: Otis Williams = Mike Bivins... lead singer with a soft voice: Eddie Kendricks = Ralph Tresvant... other lead singer that's too cocky, misses rehearsals, and battle drug addictions: David Ruffin = Bobby Brown... very talented, but underrated singer that people barely notice: Paul Williams = Ricky Bell... great dancer that's usually in the front line: Melvin Franklin = Ronnie Devoe... and the replacement lead singer after one is kicked out of the group: Dennis Edmond = Johnny Gill.

Was Melvin and Ronnie considered the best dancers of their groups?

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

@ that screencap... those shoulder pads man. Niggas in the 80s were wild with it, rolling to the clubs looking like middle linebackers and shit.

fam...I HATED that man.

And I swear when Nino stabbed him?

THOUSANDS of young Dark Skinned brothers cheered...

when him and Al B Sure was popping?

I was teased so much for being dark, almost got that Puffy S-Curl treatment.

Thank the LAWD for Denzel Bobby Brown and Wesley!

After THAT?

I was pure blood proud Wakandan.

salute to all my light skin brothers though

that scene, & nino lyin' about the operation being his, were two of the best parts

Dennis Edmond

That's Edwards. Btw, more similarities: They all had successful first solo albums, followed by flops. And they also had to tour later on, not out of love, but for need of money. As for Ricky and Paul, they both had deadly demons. Luckily, Rick's didn't kill him. Johnny and Bob? The old singer didn't think the new one could replace him on his songs, like Ruffin and Edwards, and both got fired for the same reason.

I knew the aunt of one of the members of ABC. He was staying with her in the projects, and she had a gold plaque on her living room wall.

WOWWWWWW that's fucked up... When i was watching the story and the white manager told the mothers "we got 3 #1 singles, a successful tour and every show was sold out" and then didn't have ANY MONEY to give them i was like WTF:smh::lol::lol:.

i remember when those cats used to stay on godby rd
Yep! That's where she lived. Her crib was busted. One summer, they all were staying with one of the relatives that lived in the complex we lived in at the time, The Park at Briarcliff. My sons and their friends were the shit in that complex. That summer ABC stayed there, they lost ALL of their juice! I still tease them about that. Whenever I bring it up, our oldest always says, "Oh, shit, here we with this shit again!"

damn he ripped off a FEW artists...

Who did he rip off with this song?

if there is justice in the world - its the reason he never got as big as Bobby at his peak and ended up running out on or breaching his contract

Was it him or his label?

Story of his life. I saw him being shook having to follow Tony, Toni, Tone' one year. It was Jerry Wu, 3 T, and then him. 3 T MURDERED that shit, and he had to follow them.

:eek2: 3T had talent like that?

Did they dry snitch on Bobby by kind-of-dicking his claim that it was Whitney that introduced him to coke.
Lol, did anyone really believe that? This is the dude that invented the Gumby. Had to be high to do that shit.

I just watch all 3 parts of this movie!!..Yo, This was a good mini series right here!!...:yes:..Man, NE went though alot shit with the Record Company!!...:smh::smh:.But, this was a good mini series!!..:yes:
