Netflix plans to raise prices again UPDATE: basic plan has gone from $9.99 to $11.99, premium plan $19.99 to $22.99

This (and other streamers fuckery) is exactly why I got 2 new 18TB drives for my Plex server. I'm not fucking with these niggas no mo. I have some close friends that pay me $50/yr so I can maintain Negroflix and I take requests. I'm uprading to 10Gb internet in a month or two... I'm about to download the internet.
I pay for/have access to Netflix, Amazon, Paramount and HBO... but Plex >>>... all my shit in one spot.

People are learning though
How the rising prices of streaming services are driving users to pirate websites with a ~90% profit margin that bring in ~$2B per year in ads and subscriptions

I bought flashdrives for my parents respectively.

I just told them to let me know the stuff they want me to save for them, and I'll do so.

Mom has Netflix and occasionally sees movies in the theater. Dad doesn't have any streamers.

Dad's local so I can update his flashdrive regularly. I just remind mom to bring her flashdrive with her when visiting, and I update it for her (movies & TV series) and she occasionally shares it with friends who also want to check stuff out and aren't tech-savvy either. They're mostly in that 73 - 85yo range.

66.7 million American subscribers

at least $1 more a month

12 months a yr

equals at least 800.4 million additional dollars by next yr

caching.. people want to know how significant a dollar makes

oh yeah if you go by $2 raise that’s 1.6 billion .. so between 800 million to 1.6 billion will be made

I honestly haven't paid for any of these services in years... cable included. I'm disappointed in those of you that have been around here all this time and not knowing how to stream shit without these services yet lol. I just connect an hdmi from my PC to the tv and another to the monitor. Fuck it.

I got lazy and stopped doing that for the convenience of not having to look or download but these companies are bringing me out of retirement.

I will continue to run my own personal Negroflix Plex server

4k and some other features like stream on more TVs and I believe the ability to download for offline viewing.

Not worth it at the new price imo

I got that now.

I went and checked my account and it looks like I got the premium.

It’s just me, wife and two sons using it. I have the option to view on 4 devices at the same time.

Ya'll want actors to get paid royalties or not?

Your lil' funky $7.99 multiplied by a few thousand ain't going to pay for new shows and the actors royalties they want over the lifetime of the show.

You know damn well the majority of that money isn't going to the actors on those shows or anyone else working on them.

The people benefitting from this are stockholders and Netflix executives.

This is why it helps to have friends who run Plex servers. I had two guys that gave me access to their servers. One died so I lost a few movies but the guy I'm still connected to provides me with recent releases and some older movies I'm looking for. It's a good alternative to my pirated websites since I access in on a Roku.

Greed is built in costs. They aren't going to take a "pay cut" to provide those benefits to the actors. So they expect the subscribers to pay. You can't have it both ways
