Let it live they'll do a fine job with action no doubt but, they I'm not sure they'll be able to do Spike Jet or Faye properly.

John Cho to Star in Netflix's 'Cowboy Bebop' Live-Action Series

Cowboy Bebop, Netflix's live-action take on the influential space Western anime, featuring castmembers such as Luke Cage actor Mustafa Shakir, Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Alex Hassell.

Alex Garcia Lopez, who has helmed episodes of Daredevil, Luke Cage and Cloak and Dagger, will direct the first two installments of the 10-episode series. Christopher Yost wrote the first episode.

Showrunning and executive producing are Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio, the banner behind the shows Limetown, High Fidelity and Knightfall.

Cowboy Bebop is described as "the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of a ragtag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system's most dangerous criminals," working from their spaceship, Bebob.

Cho will play Spike Spiegel, which the streamer has described as "an impossibly cool 'cowboy' (bounty hunter) with a deadly smile, a wry wit and style to spare. He travels the solar system with his ex-cop partner, Jet, pursuing the future's most dangerous bounties with a combination of charm, charisma — and deadly Jeet Kune Do."

Shakir is playing his partner, Jet Black, "one of the few honest cops in the solar system before an ultimate betrayal robbed him of all that he loved, forcing him into a vagabond life of hunting bounties to put food on the table. Jet is an inveterate jazz enthusiast and captain of the Bebop."

Pineda is playing Faye Valentine, an amnesiac thief and con artist, while Hassell is Vicious, Spiegel's ex-partner who is now out to kill him.

Shinichiro Watanabe, who directed the original anime, is a consultant on the series, which first aired in Japan in 1998, spawning a manga and film before coming to America in 2001, where it developed a major cult following and unleashed a wave of anime.

Other executive producers include Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios (Hanna); Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki and Shin Sasaki of Sunrise Inc.; Tetsu Fujimura; and Matthew Weinberg.

Cho, who stars in an episode of Jordan Peele's The Twilight Zone, is coming off an acclaimed performance in the film Searching, which yielded him an Indie Spirit Award nomination, and The Oath. He has two movies in the can: Tigertail, a love story from Alan Yang that will stream on Netflix, and a remake of The Grudge.

Cho is repped by UTA, 3 Arts, and Morris Yorn. Shakir is repped by Gersh and Robyn Bluestone Management. Pineda is repped by UTA, Kirsten Ames Management and Schreck Rose. Hassell is repped by Gersh, Magnolia Entertainment and United Agents.

This is a classic example of "packaging" that the WGA is trying to get rid of - I am a big fan of John Cho but he is not right as Spike Spiegal but UTA is involved and they probably also repped the writer and put together the deal with Netflix and had Cho under representation - I mean it all about the deal and not the creativity anymore

Casting agents and directors should cast not fucking talent agents/producers who wantt to keep their client happy and get some "points" on a TV deal also

Ok don't kill me...but I Never saw this series.

But I'm excited for this.
yeah.... Playa....
You need to see this series - its only 26 episodes 20 minutes each - especially since the live action is starting look very "Hollywood"

I say this to you with the same urgency I would tell you that you need to watch Justice League / Justice League Unlimited
Samurai Champloo is must watch but Bebop is essential

the version with original japanese cast with english subtitles has deeper dialogue and jokes
but many find it hard to watch and read - so English dub is good enough

Cowboy Bebop's live-action Ein announces start of filming on Netflix series

And what a good boy he is!

The world could use more corgis and Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop series is fulfilling that mission.

Ein, the Pembroke Welsh corgi and “data dog” of the Bebop crew, gets his live-action counterpart in a new behind-the-scenes video as filming commences on the series adaptation.

In the world of Cowboy Bebop, this aggressively adorable pup has been genetically modified with super intelligence and deductive reasoning. He can even drive cars (kind of). Because of this, it wasn’t clear whether Netflix would go the CGI route in bringing the animal to life, but this teaser shows an actual corgi is joining the ranks.

The video, taking a “corgi vision” perspective, also shows actors John Cho (playing bounty hunter Spike Seigel), Mustafa Shakir (as Spike’s partner-in-crime Jet Black), Daniella Pineda (as the mysterious Faye Valentine), and Alex Hassell (as Spike’s nemesis and former partner Vicious).

Not shown (but already cast) is Elena Satine as Julia, the object of Spike’s desire.

Cowboy Bebop is the story of this group of sci-fi misfits hunting down criminals in their solar system.

In addition to Ein, Netflix is giving more pet content with its live-action The Witcher, showcasing trusty steed Roach.

Production Halted for At Least 7 to 9 Months on Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop After John Cho Injured on Set

Hmmm, could they get him some kind of cybernetic space horse or something? Seems like a logical workaround for John Cho’s recent on-set knee injury, which has reportedly forced Netflix to temporarily stop production on their live-action remake of Cowboy Bebop. The actor stars as Spike Spiegel, the intergalactic bounty hunter at the center of the original space Western anime. According to Deadline, Cho was injured in a “freak accident” on “the last take of a routine and well-rehearsed scene” while filming in New Zealand. His injury must have been gnarly, because production will purportedly shut down for seven to nine months while he recovers from surgery in L.A.

“Our thoughts are with John and he has our complete support as he recuperates from this injury,” a Netflix spokesperson told Deadline on Friday. To add insult to injury, Cowboy Bebop just went into production earlier this month, a glimpse of which you can see in Corgi-vision via the dog actress cast to playing Spike’s pet Ein. Could they maybe use the Corgi to disguise John Cho’s knee scooter? These are the questions a room full of Netflix employees are hashing out right now.
