Thats fucked up if its true! I guess I wont be buying a PS3. I rather have a XBOX that can play on my HDTV with the HDMI. Who interested in buy my old XBox 360?

$479 is too expensive for a gaming system...I hope they have a newer model with a smaller HD...I don't even have 120 gigs on my cpu so I sure as hell don't need it on a gaming sytstem... :hmm:

I already got a 360, so i'll just trade my shit in and reserve that new version... fuck a PS3

If they would just add WIFI to the muhfugga
Can it be THAT difficult...if the fuckin Nintendo DS has it?
Supposedly, wifi was part of the package.
SUPPOSEDLY.... I mean, this thing ain't even supposed to exist.

But 120 GB, HDMI, and wifi was the word I heard....

^Good news then. I hope they can make that happen. The price looks even better now with the WIFI adapter still retailing for $100.

Sounds like a plan to me, but they wont release it without releasing something for us to upgrade or modify our current 360.

You mean like the Ipod did for people who bought the first one?
Or how PS2 refunded people when the slim one came out? (with the network adaptor included)

I might pick this one up  Bill Is going for the jugular. When Microsoft drops this shit is over for Sony:yes: 120 HDMI with 65nm processors = gameover. Microsoft needs to put that HDDVD drive In It too.

Wow M$ is giving you all the shaft

True. I'm holding out until they put in a HD DVD( or Blu-Ray if it wins ) drive because, this is the only way they will be able to make longer playing, hi rez games. I read a review of Crackdown stating that it was way too short ( only 8 hours of gameplay).DVD is beginnig to show its limit unless they start selling multi dvd sets of games.Plus, it wouldn't hurt if they boost the ram up to 1GB so the game developers can load more detailed textures.

Please ignore this dude.
Matt, keep this shit fanboy shit outta my threads.

Or the can just put portions of the game on to the 120 GB hard drive.

A poster posted this on teamxbox I thought It was interesting.

I think it will be $499, the same price as PS3's 20GB model, and it makes PS3 look stupid because the 360 one will have 120GB.

120GB HDD being available in it makes it pretty obvious they will also sell the 120GB HDD individually.

So basically, $299 Core, $399 Pro, $499 "Super". The PS3 drops $50 in price, all of the 360 versions drop $50 too. Until that happens, I wouldn't expect any drop in price w/ this announcement...they are simply adding a much bigger HDD and HDMI support.

After having the console on the market for roughly 2 years by then, a price drop would definately help to move more consoles. They they most likely will have this new version selling for $399. So for another $100 you get a larger HDD plus HDMI. However, all games will still be playable on any version of the console.

So the packages will become Core, Premium and Ultra. Basically following a Vista approach to releasing multiple versions. Oh yeah, Sony will most likely make some stupid comment about MSFT having so many versions of the console because they can't do it right. But when it boils down to it, it really would be about having more options. Why spend more than you have to for your gaming entertainment? Hardcore gamers will care about the newer console but casual gamers would be able to get the much cheaper $199 core. I'd definately get the best version.

Very interesting:yes:

However, I've been hearing Sony is burning the midnight oil to come out with a smaller, cheaper PS3 by 2008. :hmm:

Sony better stop playing around and push that date up. Microsoft will have close to 20 million console's by that time.

Ever wonder why Microsoft hasn't released an HDMI cable for the Xbox 360, or whether the AV port was really capable of digital out? Well, here's your answer: we landed pictures of what appears to be the second Xbox 360 -- the Xbox 360 v2, if you will -- codenamed Zephyr. (The original Xbox 360, if you recall, was codenamed Xenon.) The long rumored about and awaited update to the console won't just feature a new, cooler 65nm processor, it's also finally added an HDMI port for full digital 1080p pleasure, as well as a 120GB drive, just what the doctor ordered. The 120GB drive may or may not come bundled with the kit, we don't yet know, just as we also don't yet know how much a Zephyr 360 is going to run (we imagine it'll go for the same price as currently so they can keep up a little on their expanding margin). But our very kind Xbox insider seemed happy to let us know we'd be able to get them "soon."

These guys are proving more and more they are a joke

they bitch about the ps3's cost then the minute microshaft drops a new system after they've invested money in the one last year they go bonkers

$399 in 2005 (EARLY ADOPTERS)
$479 in 2007 (NOTHING NEW) & (NO HD-DVD)

A cheaper console that can produce the same visual quality of a $600 console is not good for Sony. And with that new 65nm processors Microsoft can produce and even cheaper cooler quieter system. No more overheating no more power brick. Thats how I figure.

Not good

Investor: the internet accurately predicts the console wars

In conservative fashion, the publisher placed early launch bets that the PS3 would be the most popular console. After all, its predecessor, the PS2, sold a bazillion units.

Roger Ehrenberg at Information Arbitrage opines on the game maker's current dilemma: "It has been fascinating to see the process of EA's coming to the realization that they got their bets dead wrong, and to see how they've adjusted strategy in the wake of new information (read: a Wii home-run and a PS3 disappointment)." He continues, "I'd say EA is now trying to manage risks after they have become reality, kind of like buying health insurance after you've been diagnosed with a terminal illness."

Sony has also started production with 65nm processors. If you think adding in a 120GB hard drive and an HDMI port (which Microsoft laught at and said was unnecessary), is the end for the PS3, you clearly need to look at the bigger picture a little harder. As much as people want to talk shit about the PS3, it never has been about the hardware, for either console. Funny thing is, the Sony haters yapped and yapped about the PS2 having to be put together piece by piece, yet these same people are happy to have a 360 and do the same thing. Microsoft themselves said that 1080p HD was not needed and a complete waste of money. Lo and behold, they update the dashboard with 1080p support, thought obviously without an HDMI feed, and then go ahead with the supposed HDMI port. They put in a tiny 20GB hard drive in the first system, noting that there is no need for anything bigger, since the system is only used for games. All of a sudden, they offer HD movie downloads and other content. Now, I am not a fanboy of either. I own a 360 and a PS3. They both have their faults, but it is ridiculous to blindly follow one company's business moves and act as if shit is all good. This new 'Zephyr' isn't even an upgrade. I put a 120GB hard drive in my PS3 from day one, on my own, no modding, no hard work, its just like adding or changing a drive in a PC. Shit, it even tells you how to do it in the manual, in case you don't know. Its all comes down to the games and the PS3 is still a baby. For the year and change that the 360 has been out, I expected much better, in terms of quality of games. In the end, however, I do believe this year, 2007, will be the biggest year for games possibly ever: Mass Effect, Bioshock, NBA Street, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm, God of fucking War II, GTA IV, Halo 3(boo), Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4, Virtua Fighter 5, Tekken 6, possibly Resident Evil 5, Kane & Lynch, Alan Wake(wheneve that bitch decides to drop), UT 3. and it goes on.

Whats even funnier, is that even if you pick your side and cheer them on like a Laker girl, if you were smart, you would still want the other console to make a name for itself. Competition is good for us, the consumers. If Sony fell off with the PlayStation, as so many jackoffs want to see, then we would be left with Microsoft, of all companies, to dictate to us what we can and cannot deem fun within the videogame industry; Just another genre for Gates & company to assimilate. Is this really what you want?

Please continue to ignore this dude.
Fanboys die when you don't feed them.

(I know its difficult when $79 for HDMI + 100GB = "Nothing New," but do your best not to directly engage the fanboy.)

Bruh, this kind of discussion makes entirely too much sense to influence the people that it needs to. Its almost as if there is some secret prize that folks expect to get for loyal brand support. Good points.

matt357 has admitted to being a Sony product rep in the past. Like Dert Bagg said, ignore him and his biased fuckery.

Any simp can see that $479 for the Zephyr is still better than $600 for what the PS3 offers. Honestly though, I originally figured that Zephyr was gonna be a newer debug kit.

cosign. I'll probably end up Buying a PS3 before upgrading my 360. TV is not up to par to really matter. WIFI?? Sounds great any word on it as an add on. It seems MS fills that void left by Sega when their hardware platform got put by the wayside. I don't view MS as a threat when they're still trying to keep up in the world.

HOW THE FUCK YOU GET PAID TO DO A COMMERCIAL FOR SONY BRAVIA TIED UP WITH A PRODUCT REP...DOPE???

IVE ABOUT HAD WITH YOU AND YOUR 360 CLIQUE shit..

WHY CANT YOU ACCEPT THE FACT MS SHAFTED ALL OF YOUR ASSES AND DONT START WITH THE " BUT TEH $479 is BETTER THAN 600.00 AFTER YOU ALL SPENT 299 or 399 + XBOX LIVE AND ADD-ON AFTER ADD-ON ONLY TO BE PLACED WITH A PRODUCT THEY COULD'VE DROPPED LAST YEAR...UN-DAMN BELIEVABLE..AND YOU WONDER WHY WOMEN DATE THUGS AND DROP KATS LIKE YOU..

DAMN LEMMINGS:lol:

first of all $479 for the new 360 + $200 for the hd-dvd drive = way too fucking much

second, most people don't even have 1080p tv's, so why the fuck would people spend $500 for this system. Just buy the $15 cooler attachment and wait for them to sell the 120GB hard drive separately.

No telling what the 120GB hard drive will cost separately.
The 20GB HD is still $80-$100. :smh:

If you don't have 360, it will probably be much cheaper to cop the Zephyr.
