Nelly’s Crumbling Mansion Is A Relic Of The MTV Cribs Era

Low key this is every single mans house

The funniest shit is when you're younger and have company coming over. Especially family. They walk in and are impressed - "Oh wow ... your place is spotless."

You casually have to remind them you were cleaning for HOURS and hiding a bunch of shit. And they wonder where you've stashed everything out of sight.

so true.

for me there are two places that stay clean no matter what: the bathroom and the kitchen
everything else is fair game.

One of my best moments. About 10 - 12 years back. Place is in disarray. Aunt has always had a bad habit of just stopping in on people. Usually just people in her neighborhood. She decides one Sunday afternoon to stop by my place. Middle of the day ... PJs ... looks like a bomb went off. Doorbell rings.

Get the fuck outta here. It's her.

I play like I'm not home. She calls me later - says I saw your car there - figured you were home.

Politely explained to her you need to call people, and not just stop in unannounced. Said I was out somewhere on foot. Her and my dad ... neither have cellphones. So all their communication with people = home phone & email. Even then - no phone call or email.

MTV Cribs was nothing but a calculated ploy to move us away from feeling proud of what we did in exchange for giving us false pride in what we have. This era also coincided with the "bling-bling" era and just like that it was more about what you had instead of how good of a rapper/singer or person you were.
What a paradigm shift in American culture from where we blacks used to be the trendsetters and the creators of pop art and fashion, to now where the white man (the distributors of money) now dictate who's hot and what is fashionable.
Of course, once their agenda has been fulfilled they reclaim what they gave out leaving 90% of the ones who participated in this bullshit, nothing but memories about how they once had it all.

What's truly sad is, this type of overspending and lack of financial responsibility is what thousands of our youth are dying for, and now it's so bad that it's now being touted as part of the culture!
Before anyone comes at me with pro-black talk bullshit, please include plans on putting to end this counterproductive behavior that is so entrenched in our psyche we are no longer capable of thinking of a world without it.
Imagine that we now have so-called black leaders talking about fighting white supremacy while themselves being addicted to the very same propaganda that is giving them power over us. Preaching to us about how great it is, have billions of dollars of purchasing power instead of teaching us that real power is in producing goods that people want and need and selling it to them.

But this is not what we really want, at least not to the point of changing anything in our lives to obtain, so carry on, keep doing what you've been doing, but don't expect the white man to rescue you out of the situation you voluntarily place ourselves into.
As long as we are willing to hoe, steal, fight and kill for the goods that the white man lends us, then how can we expect them or anyone else to take us seriously.
I realize that being in this country we are in a precarious situation with the odds stacked against us, but when we are sabotaging our own collective effort by buying into the bullshit, this leaves most blacks with no choice at all other than to carve our own separate path saving as many of our family and loved ones as possible, leaving the rest to deal with their own choices in life. Before we can truly join as one, as visioned by Malcome and King, we have to first liberate our mental shackles that we've now volunteered to put on, but if you choose to keep them on, well don't come to me and others once the white man turns on you and takes back his shit he gave you to lure a thousand other blacks down this corrupt path.
