NBA teams reportedly considering moving away from the term 'owner' after Draymond's comments

Nah bruh. Latino or Latina.

I hate seeing that BS "Latinx" label in print or online. Shit is dumb.

I agree with Dray. The way the term comes off is a subtle reminder of chattel slavery, especially when damn near all sports teams are "owned" by old CAC yet most players (outside of HoCACkey) are Black.

Instead of team owner, call them Team CEO.

I was making a point.

If all these OTHER groups can DEMAND titles be changed?

Why can't we?

More racist than the NFL?
NFL has the kaep situation... Abdul-rauf was decades b4 that... But nobody seems to want to bring up how NBA made that a big thing.. An NBA owner no longer has a team for literally shitting on black players... Nba made a rule that players can't kneel during the anthem... Nobody brings that up... They juss want to point at the other sport and say it's bad

I understand all what the NBA has done. I was just asking do you think the NBA is more racist than the NFL?

Gotta give these guys some credit. A lot of them balled their way through life and didn’t value education or any thought outside of basketball.
I give them a lot of credit. Most just don't realize what kinda of power they have. And even the ones that do, they don't use their power correctly....

The owner is the owner of the franchise, it ain’t that serious.

Owners aren’t talking about they “Own” the players.

You don’t think some of them feel like they do?

And you might feel differently if you were an athlete.

Owners can feel how they want to feel privately and that goes for the owner of any business.

Being an NBA player is just a job and the team is the employer. It’s just really not that deep unless an owner is talking about “ I own you” which ain’t happening.

I give them food and cars...never forget

Most of y’all young niggas today are too passive about everything anyway. I don’t know what y’all really do give a damn about besides dyeing your hair, and listening to mumble rap.

NBA players are probably the most powerful athletes in America; they just dont understand that and/or use their power correctly....
Yoooooooo!!!!
I was just thinking that today while watching them discuss
how the NBA banned the co-owner of the Warriors.
(for shoving Lowery)
The brothers dont play that SHIT!
and the league knows it.
It's a bunch of YOUNG millionaires,
and LeBron is at the forefront AND
he's "woke."

The person owns the team I get it but I never understood how players get in press conferences and say things like “I like to thank my owner mr ________” “mr._______ always been good/fair to me “

You don't see a lot of NBA players saying that until after they sign those big contracts; but u see NFL players saying that all the time.....

NBA players are very powerful. They get all the endorsements; all the shoes; all of everything but them fuckers don't use their leverage correctly. And the NBA ain't about to show them how too.......

People can feel how they want; but the reality of it is overwhelming majority of people don't know how to deal with how they feel; thus we have a fucking owner of a team going out of his way to push a player :smh:...mental health is real..........

Most young/old Nita’s today, actually it doesn’t really matter how old they are. They can be old or young. Unfortunately in life, we have some Black people that like to cry wolf and make mountains out of two grains of sand. Is the NBA the only business entity on Earth that has a person that has the title “Owner”?

Can the purchaser of a janitorial company call himself the “Owner” of the company he purchased?
If so, then GET THE
giphy.gif

And find a real issue to be mad at.

How many owners are there? How many times has an owner of a team pushed a player?

If your answer is “One”, then we have nothing to discuss because this is an isolated incident.

I agree with Dray. Call them investors.

When Jay Z was an owner in the Nets they made a major point to call him a minority investor. They then exposed the exact amount he owned.

Only when a black man is an owner do they try to change shit up.

Funny. When I hear the teem "owner" used in connotation to sports teams, I don't look at it like a slave owner owning a person. Moreso, the owners own the cloth that th guys wear and there's a mutual service clause. Now for some reason, my "Dafuq?"radar goes off when I hear white fantasy football players sat stuff like, " I own Todd Gurley."

Why don’t they just call players employeees.
And the owner just owns the company.

Unless they looking for partnerships in the business. But that will mean you gotta take the losses too
that's really what it comes down to. to be honest

I 100% agree with Draymond.

Besides they really don't own shit anyway. The racist clippers owner proved that. If you own something and it can be taken away from you with ease....you're just the CEO. That owner shit is simply a ploy to stroke fragile white male egos

The NBA also has a global fanbase. Basketball is played on every continent. American football, outside of some U.S. Military bases, is not. Thus, the fact that NBA players have fans all over the globe means that they can tell fans in Buttcrack County, U.S.A to eat a dick. How many people in Turkey would know who Khalil Mack is. I bet my house they know who LeBron or James Harden is. It's easier to be "woke" when you have the whole globe as your marketplace. NFL players, despite small steps, aren't global phenomenons, so they can't really tell the folks from "Buttcrack, USA" to eat a dick because they need them to buy their jersey, order Red Zone channel, Sunday ticket, etc.

Same as owning a home. If the bank can foreclose own it, you don't own it.

As expected, CACs are in an uproar.

Honestly from day one?

I have seen the COMPLETE OPPOSITE.

even on sports radio

I have been SHOCKED.

I mentioned this to @largebillsonlyplease cause I don;t know how it is on the West and with Dub fans but on TV, radio and interent?

these white folks seem MORE mad than WE are.

I don't trust it.

I completely understand the NBA CANNOT just take his shares.

and EVERYONE seems to be so damn SURE this man is gonna just SELL his shares when the majority owners put on the full court press.

I will believe it when I see it.

I am also surprised how many white folks feel the SHAME of his actions is actually the worst punishment...

I do NOT know if I agree with that.

I think it much more than that....
