I think it's actually helpful in a counterintuitive way. Rather than just leaving fans to dismiss an obviously lopsided matchup, they acknowledged the truth and helped push the narrative toward "Can Houston win a game?" There's actually suspense to be sold there, where if they acted like the question was who would in four games, there's no suspense and less interest.
