NBA 2K17: New Face Scan Application Could Eliminate Tons Of User Frustration

Help is on the way.

The face scan process for NBA 2K16 was broken. The same could be said for the feature in NBA 2K15, but it was at least possible to get an accurate render. In last year’s version, if you were a bald black guy like me, no matter how still you kept your head during the scan, it always seemed to come out looking like some other follicle-challenged brother.

I spent at least eight hours combined trying to get it to work, but finally gave up and settled for a guy that prompted my wife to ask me: ‘Bae, who is that supposed to be?”

“It’s me babe, but I’ve been through a lot.”

Thankfully, Ronnie Singh aka Ronnie 2K appeared to hint at a new face-scanning application for the game in the latest episode of 2KTV. Check it out below:

There were a few over-the-top “features” Ronnie mentioned, but some of those were more than likely just jokes.

The concept of face scanning on a mobile device was pioneered by EA Sports for NBA Live 16. In all honesty, it was one of the few things EA’s game has done better than 2K in some time. Live’s app was called GameFace 2.0 and while it wasn’t perfect (everyone was rendered a shade or so lighter than their real skin color), it was quicker, easier to use and it delivered more accurate renders.

Obviously, these two developers are “inspired” by the others ideas. 2K Sports broke ground with the face scanning concept for NBA 2K15, but EA one-upped them by taking the theme to mobile devices and simplifying the process.

Now, 2K is apparently going mobile and fans are hoping they can improve on the issues GameFace 2.0 had. If I can get an accurate render without being forced to find the exact right amount of sunlight, with my left hand in a bowl of spaghetti and my right foot dangling off the side of a building, I’ll be ecstatic.

NBA 2K17 releases on September 16 (PS4, XB1, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC) for those who pre-order. It’ll be in stores for everyone else on September 20. Look for more information on the game in the coming weeks.

man I swear I damn near had tears of frustration tryna scan my face for 15 and 16 :pain:

NBA 2K17 News and Updates: Expect a lot of New In game Features for NBA 2K17

Ronnie Singh, 2K Sports community manager has revealed some new game features for the upcoming basketball game, NBA 2K17!

According to a report done by The Bit Bag, at the NBA 2KTV Session 2 Finale, revelations from Singh included that NBA2K17 will have a bunch of content and features including Timed Locker Codes, Signature Animation, a new face scan app. 2K Sport said that this is only possible because of fan's request which they gladly considered!

In relate to that news, NBA fans should expect a new game mode for the upcoming sports game, NBA2K17!

In a report done by Movie News Guide, the promotional posters and art for the game also seem to suggest that a new game mode will be added to the highly anticipated basket ball game. NBA fans should expect a Summer Olympics Mode for NBA2K17.

This is due to the fact that one of the recent image for the game showcased Paul George in his Olympics uniform. Even if this speculation has been said, 2K Games not yet confirmed anything.

In an attempt to allow for some exceptions, gameplay director Mike Wang says Visual Concepts has had to come up with a system that allows certain players to not be penalized for taking historically bad shots. However, this creates further balancing complications as there is the potential to effectively "break the game". Experimentations with such a system were made in May 2016 via an update for NBA 2K16, which modified Curry's shooting ability for a thirty-hour period.

In our previous report, 2K Sports is rumoured to add Draymond Green on the cover art of the highly anticipated, NBA2K17!

According to Christian Times, Golden State Warriors' star player Draymond Green is among the top candidates to occupy the last spot in "NBA 2k17" cover art.

A report from The Bitbag also noted that after Irving, there is a high chance that Draymond Green will be the next NBA player to grace to cover the game. Although it's all rumours a lot of fans are deadest on it happening.

'NBA 2K17' to release 3 months from now; Yeezy kicks, underwater basketball, mascot wars as additional features

According to reports, the latest "NBA 2K17" game will feature the Adidas Yeezy Boost 750 shoe. The new kicks from the mentioned sporting brand will be part of the massive selection of apparels that can be worn by the custom character the player made. What is yet to be known, though, will be the color variants and appearance of the shoe in the forthcoming game.

Moreover, NBA 2KTV's Ronnie Singh made some gestures on his phone during NBA 2KTV's season finale that made fans speculate that the face scanning feature will be back on "NBA 2K17." The face scanning app's performance on previous "NBA 2K" games was rather dissatisfying and produced frustrating results when used. Some players took long hours to figure out a workaround of the said app in hopes of getting a better digital version of themselves, but most of them just gave up.

Singh also mentioned about a new feature in the upcoming game where gamers can now play basketball underwater, which made the host Rachel Demita react with an awkward look. The former also mentioned about timed locker codes where fans can now unlock NBA superstars or free agent players for a limited time and use them in the game. Singh also added the so-called mascot wars that made Demita ask as to whether the mentioned game mode will be a basketball match between the team's mascots, but Singh didn't give any further information about it.

Meanwhile, the game is now available on a pre-order basis for fans who would like to play ahead of the others. Those who will avail of the said offer will be entitled to the game's pre-order package that includes 5,000 virtual currency (VC) and three booster packs with an ensured Paul George card under the MyTeam bundle.

"NBA 2K17" will hit the stores on Sept. 20.

payback's a bitch...beat em 108-94 w/ the Knicks by attacking the inside...they have no presence there w/ zaza in the game

I gotta figure out who I'm gonna run with now that the thunder ain't go be shit
They gotta redo the Play Now mode. No more playing someone who's has the same colored jersey. Tier match making. I don't wanna be matched 10 times in a row with someone picking a tier 1 team while i'm picking the Lakers or a tier 2 team. For those very reasons I spent my time playing My Team that also needs better match making.

Yea they need to bring back lobbies. I don't always wanna play a ranked match. That shit doesn't allow me to try out different teams or use my Pistons cuz i don't wanna get my ass kicked my the cavs or gs. Or i don't always have friends on playing

Hope Barkley isn't on that shit like last time being exclusively for the dream team. They need to have the 93 Phoenix Suns on the game.

Chuck, Reggie and Webber stay on that shit.

I hope since the players worked something out with the CBA regarding health insurance for former players.
I hope something with players licensing for former player can be worked out too.

Webber isn't even a Hall Of Famer. Don't know why he's holding out. They couldn't get Sheed on the Pistons and Blazers roster. Fools trying to hold out for money when it's you either sign or were put Darko in your place.
