Mychal Bell Makes Bail!!!

some people will never get it. it wasn't about Rodney King (the man), Mychal Bell (the young man), Rosa Parks (the woman).

I guarantee you that some of the people that got killed in the WTC attacks in 2001 and some of those killed in New Orleans after Katrina in 2005 had priors, but does that mean that they don't deserve justice. Some of us can act so high and mighty. Just because we don't have a criminal record, doesn't mean that we have never participated voluntarily or involuntarily to criminal activity. And who's to say that he was guilty of what he was charged of before anyways? It's not like Jena's criminal justice dept. has a good track record for getting things right.

but you have it wrong..rodney king, mychel bell and ESPECIALLY rosa parks became the FACE of the movement..the FLASHPOINT of the cause.

As such they can potentially diminish it by their actions..or more directly their actions and history can be used to diminish the impact of the movenment..ever notice how rosa parks didn't do SHIT for the rest of her life... imagine if she had gotten caught up in a few scandals after the bus boycott or if there was info of it before the boycott..

are people perfect...no

but mychel bell from this point on better realize that all eyes are on him and any bullshit he allows himself to get caught up in will be used to throw shade on this thing which has become bigger than just him...

we're dealing with a society and a people who are willing to do anything to keep the status quo...and are very good at doing that...remember the bush - kerry elections what was a couple of the biggest issues..kerrys "flip flopping" (even tho bush did the same) and his war record (even tho bush had NONE) and on both issues BUSH WON..why because they were able to manipulate the PERCEPTION of the events and issues to their favor based on questionable things in kerry's past EVEN THO BUSH HAD A WORST RECORD ON BOTH ISSUES..

and thats WHITE ON WHITE..
so ask me again about mychel bell, rodney king and rosa parks and who do i feel more confident in wanting as the face of the movement..

well, if that was the case, and people subscribed to the idiosyncratic propaganda that White America feeds us through the media and the public school system, black people overall ignorant, lazy, ruthless people with no history past slavery. Out of a man's whole life, if you choose to judge him based on a few incidents, you are the fool.

Some say Martin Luther King Jr. was a womanizer, does that diminish what he stood for.

Some portray Malcolm as a racist, does that diminish his impact that he had on the black uplifting and self-determination? (well for those who don't read and study for themselves it may)

i understand your views, but it goes waaaaay deeper than the individual, IMHO.

ummm someone with NO criminal record at all..

i just find it hard to 100% back someone whose already had a couple of run ins with the law...kinda like rodney king...asswhooped by the cops..riots behind it..get in trouble AGAIN with the police..

I just hope mychel bells understands that ge OWES a huge debt to a lot of people and keeps his nose clean from now on..

i don't have a criminal record, and have never been arrested...

...but i ain't no cot damn angel.

and neither are you.

people with criminal records STILL deserve to be treated fairly, and still deserve to be defended when bullshit racist DAs and other gubment officials use their positions to diminish a person's quality of life.

once we accept "people with checkered pasts" getting treated like shit, we'll accept "angels" getting fucked over too.

motherfuck this...are you retarded??? what did this Klansman of a DA do when Robert Bailey was beaten by grown white thugs?

why did only one of those thugs get charged, and then get probation?

why did another one of the attackers pull a gun on Bailey and Bailey get charged with assault and theft after defending himself?

why do Black men have to DESERVE fair treatment when it's supposed to be guaranteed to all?

the alot of people in america (black, white, etc) are fools then...
because what you just described is EXACTLY what people believe of black people..because that exactly what we've all be told from birth..thats exactly what we've been shown from entertainment to the "news" media.. so much so that when left to our own devices we reproduce the same things (rap videos of the last decade anyone?)

Some say Martin Luther King Jr. was a womanizer, does that diminish what he stood for.
they tried and the only reason it didn't work as effectively as they hoped was because he was a minister (altho you and i know that next to pimps baptist preachers are the second most pussy gettinest mofos on the planet...lol) and the movement had too much momentum by then..

Some portray Malcolm as a racist, does that diminish his impact that he had on the black uplifting and self-determination? (well for those who don't read and study for themselves it may)
but malcolms movement was marginalized by the civil rights movements and it doesn't help that he was killed by jealous blacks...

it always does...but thats the point of image manipulation to take attention away from the deeper issues.

but lack of a criminal record (especially for violence or thievery) means thats one less thing people can hold against you..

just like you're no angel don't tell me you've never character assassinated or judged someone based on their past either..especially if that person is the poster child for a cause you oppose..

and i agree that he and others deserve fair treatment but lets not act like they just picked this boy up off the street for nothing either. Let the punishment fit the crime...in this case it didn't and that needs to be handled for more reasons than just mychel bell..but i'm just saying that as a very prominent face of this particular movement I hope he understands whats at stake.

:yes::yes:

I noticed today listening to the DA's comments, how he mentioned 6 people wasn't a "fight", it was an attack. Then the reporter from CNN added vicious, to sound it more harsh as if prior events didn't lead to that. I also think that the victims injuries should have played a factor, he wasn't in a coma, and wasn't almost killed. Whenever they talk about the victim they never show his picture, because people would be like this is that "vicious attack" that those boys got attempted murder for :smh:

this is what i'm talking about in terms of manipulation...

vicious attack
almost killed
kicked in the head after unconcious

all to portray the person in the worst light...ya'll know how the game is played:hmm:

did you read anything about Robert Bailey? he was your angel, and look how they fucked him over.

i've never fired anyone, denied them housing, an education, or anything else based on my feelings, but this D.A. felt like he could "end their lives with the stroke of his pen." you don't have to be an angel to be fair.

and i agree that he and others deserve fair treatment but lets not act like they just picked this boy up off the street for nothing either.

nobody ever said he didn't do anything wrong. again, demanding fair treatment is not exoneration. everyone knows he attacked that loud mouthed riot inciting racist asshole.

everyone should also know that if those who were in charge were regulating things properly that shit wouldn't have happened.

unfortunately robert bailey isn't the face of this movement

you just weren't in a position of power..thats all..

agreed..thats not in dispute

everyone should also know that if those who were in charge were regulating things properly that shit wouldn't have happened.

very true

doesn't matter. you said Mychal Bell wasn't an angel, and we're all acting like he was guilty of nothing. you're implying the idea that we shouldn't be so supportive of him because of his past indiscretions. fuck that, Robert Bailey was assaulted THEN arrested for DEFENDING himself, which proves that a lack of a criminal background or past indiscretions means nothing to these racist bastards.

you just weren't in a position of power..thats all..
bullshit. i've hired and fired based on job performance, past or present. i refuse to bypass someone based on preconceived bullshit, because i could possibly fuck myself out of a good long term associate. the NPO i'm involved with provides care and relief for people of all colors without preference, or i'd be guilty of violating the terms of our grants. again, you don't have to be an angel to be fair.

when was it ever supposed to?

I'm just saying lets not make him out to be the second coming of rosa parks.. and that I hope he understands what all this means and conduct himself accordingly..

now tell the truth..knowing this: Bell has been adjudicated of four previous crimes of violence - two for battery and two for criminal damage to property. He was placed on probation until his 18th birthday Jan. 18, 2008.

tell me there isn't a little voice saying "okay he got off for this one and he has a possible scholarship to college...God I hope he doesn't fuck it up and make us all feel stupid for jumping to his defense by doing some more stupid shit"..

cuz i know thats how I feel right now...now if he HADN'T had a criminal record or if it were robert bailey for example then that wouldn't be there...

fair enough...

Then To Top It Off With A Comfortable Bed, And If He Could Slide Away From The Fam For A Minute, GO GET HIM Some Young Trim..... Sheiiiiiiitttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whether M. Bell fucks up again later on in life or not is totally irrelevant. Just like with the Rodney King situation, him fucking up later on was irrelevant also. People were wronged in both situations. If you STAND for NOTHING you'll fall for ANYTHING. Thats like the lil black boy that was beaten to death down in Florida while in Boot Camp. Is the quality of life degraded because of the bad choices and decisions one may have made? This Jena 6 situation got blacks to stand up for what was right. Point blank!! Bell could have a record as long as the Bible, but the fact of the matter is that right is right and wrong is wrong. People shouldn't prejudge others. If Bell is punished and the punishment fits the crime, then thats fine. If the whites that did wrong are punished according to the crime as well, thats fine. Its all about consistency and fairness. Noone should be upset if Mychal Bell goes to UCLA and gets in trouble because he still has to live his own life, and he's got to manage his life from this point however he will. He's still gonna make mistakes. But to say that "he'll mess up things because he's the face of the movement" is ridiculous! Nobody's stupid. What went down in Jena was a disgrace and injustice, and those injustices resonate much louder than any single person.

............. but on a bright side, I was listening to the radio about month ago and they had his father on the phone. His father said that UCLA had contacted him and said that if his son is set free, that they were steal willing to grant Micheal a full ride on a football scholarship so thats the positive side of thangs if he does get to walk.

I'm curious as to how UCLA can give his son a full ride , when the kid has missed a year of school, and so many "core courses"; I'm hoping his father is correct; but from what I know about the NCAA, I don't see how that can be true without the kid going to a JUCO first.

Honestly, I bet he had TROUBLE eating and sleeping!

Being institutionalized does some fucked up shit to a human being mentally.

This kid aint no hero. Seems like the one that need to be on tha talk shows is tha kid who sat under tha "white tree" in tha first place.
