Late last month, I paid my TMobile bill and was notified (online) that they'd been hacked and my PII may have been accessed.

Today, I received a letter from the Ohio Dept. of Job and Family Services.:eek2::eek:

Re: Your Federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Benefits

Dear Ohioan,

According to our records, you applied for and/or received Pandemic unemployment Assistance (PUA) benefits during the course of the pandemic. Federal stimulus legislation made it possible for eligible individuals to receive PUA if they did not qualify for traditional unemployment benefits. That legislation expires across the nation in September.

On September 4, 2021, PUA will expire in Ohio. Claims that are determined eligible for payment for weeks on or before September 4, 2021, that were not paid (as a result of a pending approval or successful appeal) will be paid. However, PUA benefits will no longer be payable for weeks you remain partially or totally unemployed after September 4, 2021.

The standard form letter goes on for four more paragraphs...

I called pertinent numbers to a couple of automated subsections to no avail. I then looked them up online and found an Identity theft number and link for reporting. I thought that I was gonna be calling in vain because it was too close to 5 pm EST but someone finally picked up.

The dude couldn't tell me exactly HOW MUCH of my info was used to file the claim/s because that too would involve giving me my own info or confirming to a stranger that my info was valid to continue using for fraud and theft.

My bank account is intact thus far but now I have to wait until tomorrow to alert them to watch for odd activities. :hmm: I'd JUST contributed several hundred to my Sister In Laws funeral (kidney failure due to diabetic complications) and also to my nephew's 17-year-old failing donated kidneys who has had to compete with COVID patients to get some semblance of treatment. His wife can't work because they live in my small hometown but he's treated at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville or an ER in Jackson, TN that is equipped to deal with his condition and he's not showing any improvement.

All I can do at the moment is to hurry up and wait and hope that this was revealed in time to halt some lump sum payout of back payments, etc. I had to fill out a report online with all my WI info included and they'll contact me for a follow-up.

What's funny IS that I just had an argument with my oldest sister about using Zelle and her fear of banking online as she was spearheading the fundraiser for our nephew and how her fears of conspiracies are unfounded. Two days later, here I am.

To anyone else who uses TMobile, keep an eye out for any unusual activity in your accounts. I'll be getting ahold of their asses tomorrow as well.

Also if you do have Tmobile change your pin and password for your account. That info was hacked as well and with your pin they can switch your service to their phones to run up your bill.

I had to do all that shit.

Damn. A clownshow all around. T Mobile hacked for 50 million accounts. Ohio's unemployment is full of failure. Contact a politician to handle the unemployment shit. You won't get anywhere contacting Ohio UE. They will treat you like a punk unless a rep calls them for you.
That was my immediate first thought. I figured that I needed to get a hold of someone here from within to contact counterparts in Ohio because all I'm likely to get is lip service on my own.

Bruh! For the last few months, I've had to reset my password JUST TO PAY my bill. I'd been wondering WTF? :hithead:

Response bookmarked! :wepraise::thumbsup::laptop:

I was the victim of a sim swap back in May.....

They liquidated some investment accounts but that was stopped. I still had to have the accounts rebuilt....They sold off shit and it was stopped in my account but they tried to buy 70k worth of bitcoin...

They did get 16k but Chase returned that.

As far as NOPORT is concerned it isn't publicized but it will lock your phone so that the number can't be ported to another device which is what they do to sim swap.

MFA will make sure that every login is confirmed by a code.

Also don't allow chrome or your browser to save passwords..

Get something like DashLane if you have so many you need them managed

My homegirl Scamesha just bought me 3 pairs of Gucci shoes. I guess that was you she hit up.
Sorry bro but these Guccis feel real good. LOL!!

Real talk. Stop leaving your ID around your scallywags skank cum rags. "Whats in your wallet" can lead to a Capital One card and a girls trip with her buddy Swipetta to Jamaica.

All they need is a DOB and drivers license, then this bitch is shopping like a Kardashian.

Yep that was probably it. The pin is important because what I heard they can do is the call t mobile give your pin number and then have your account moved to a SIM card in their phone. Then you're locked out and they're using their phone on your bill.

My shit was stolen in the T Mobile breach too. But I'm not clear on what happen here. They used your name in WI to claim unemployment in Ohio. Sent the money to an account without your name? And you don't even qualify for unemployment in that State?

On the phone with my namesake son right now...he got the same notifications but his wife didn't. He's now been alerted to what's going on because HE TOO could be vulnerable. It didn't occur to me WHY I kept having to update my passwords to access my account to pay my bill over and over again.

That shit probably happened back in the Spring. :hmm:

TMobile is offering free credit guard from McAfee.

.
Yeah, that was an option that they were offering in the notification and I really didn't take it seriously because my banking wasn't affected. I was simply thinking that I wasn't hit in the hip pocket so I was good to go. Nope!

A muhfucka could have UE claims in my name in 49 states.:smh:

I see you playa'

Life lock bruh

You remember that life lock commercial when the owner put his SS number on the van and drove it around the country? They stole his identity 13 times. Don't use that shit.

I had my bank info set up to pay every month. So they got your card info if you paying by debit card, right?

I'm not certain if the funds have been paid out as of yet to whomever in Ohio. It's not clear from the letter and the rep on the phone could not disclose that info until there's been a thorough investigation. I'm hoping not and that the culprit is still waiting for a check in the mail.

The letter was dated Aug 25, 2021, and just arrived to me TODAY! That's over two weeks ago for a fucking First Class Letter to reach me. :hmm:

Edit: I don't do autopay

I don't know for certain because there have been no charges to my debit or credit cards. I bank with USAA. If I didn't call them in the past with my travel plans, strange or unusual transactions from different states would be rejected until I called and authorized/confirmed that I'm in a different state.

They got my shit through T Mobile, Bruh. :dunno:

@Shaka54

Sorry to hear you're going through this shit, and thanks for the intel for everyone re: same. Very frustrating and a hassle.

Had my Mastercard compromised about 10 years back after picking up oil & filter at Canadian Tire in Vancouver. It was a cold morning, and I either dropped the CC putting stuff in my jacket or got pick-pocketed on the way out. There were people behind me in line, and it's sort of a cramped check-out area in the corner of the store.

Realized I couldn't locate it, searched the car over to be sure, and called their fraud / lost card dept within a day or so.

Turns out the card had been used to gas up 4 times in Richmond, BC about 20 mins away for a total of $270. Talking to the guy in the fraud dept, he noted it was a noticeable red flag as the majority of my gas ups are in Vancouver for $40 - 50 every 2 weeks, give or take a few days. They replaced the card.

That's another saving grace. I recently lost my debit card while walking my dog. I retraced my steps the following day and couldn't find it so I had to report it as lost and I received a new card and new number. I had to update card info while paying bills at the beginning of the month. Phew!

That's good, man. Glad to hear you avoided extra stressor(s) with that one.

On a strange sidebar / note re: debit cards ... how's this for a crazy, tragic story? Especially when you think about all the CC & debit transactions taking place at drive-thrus. Same McDonald's we rolled through (in a limo) during a latenight after HS graduation back in the day getting a shitload of food for the ride home.

If you get any Resistance from getting this corrected?

You should contact the Federal Trade Commission

and honestly?

any local elected official.

Let me know, family.

Dude they got your social.... you need that first to start the process and make a claim.... that's how they check to see if you're really eligible to receive it.... better start calling the credit card companies and put a lock on opening any new credit card accounts in your name without contacting them first to prove who they are... and then get this...

Damn Shaka.... Sorry to hear man.

Sounds like you are on top of it. Hopefully those assholes aren't trying to go to town w/ your info. Hope it's isolated to the unemployment.

LB, Bruh...the timing is fucked up too. I put my house up on the market so I could downsize from this 6 bedroom crib. I ain't rented in over 30 years or more. I'm shocked at rent prices and THEN, if there's some shit on my credit that's gonna fuck with my closing and leasing a crib til I can buy a smaller lair.
I DO NOT want them problems whether they can be explained away or not.

I'm trying to be out before the first snowfall.
