I had this Blues cassette in my early 20s my music teacher in college had made for me when I was trying to learn to play the guitar. It opened my eyes to seeing some of the greatest American musicians that created music that influence just about all popular music now.

There is some kind of flow to the list here.

The Etta James version is a really good version but it would would be too powerful to put here. You should check it out and that "AT LAST" album is really good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Pu_AdU_NQg&

Thanks, man! I like blues, but don't know enough names.

I need a compilation of good southern blues!

On my way out, so I'll listen later.

Eric Clapton has a version of this that is less folksy with the electric guitar that is also real good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdwVVI4B3oY. Eric Clapton with cream has done an awesome job with his blues remakes. His 4 disc crossroad collection is pretty good. I am choosing to go with mostly authentic stuff in this thread.

Here is the playlist of the songs previously listed. Just press play and it will play the songs one after the other.

ENJOY.

Foundation stuff. A good source for old stuff remastered properly is the "Roots of Blues" albums

I am going to add some Eric Clapton stuff of the classics that he remade. I think he did a great job. His Crossroad box set has some really good stuff on there. His original stuff are really good too.
It's kinda tough finding the ones I like or ones close to them since he has so many freaking versions out there on youtube.

Some of his stuff would not fit on the playlist now because it is kinda hard and the recording is too modern which would throw off the old roots vibe sorta.

Here is a couple and later I'll put up a playlist.

I love this playlist. It makes good company when I am reading stuff. Just hate when it runs out. I need to start adding more.

here is a playlist of him. Blind Willie Johnson - This guy is the real deal. You hear his stuff in Eric Clapton and Led Zeplin.

This is a youtube created list. I haven't figured out how to embed it so you gonna have to just click on it.

I dated this chic once whose mom gave me a copy of a blues recording
that she said was convincing proof why her daughter and I would never
last. Her daughter was a really smart and ambitious girl with lots of nice
friends, most of which, had really nice rear ends.

I wasn't much for the blues, but she said just listen to this refrain
and I would certainly learn, the most important thang:

"now its plain to see the reasons
for the down falls in your past
because your strongest weakness
is a whiskey glass and woman's ass"

Perhaps this is why, I sometimes plead the Fifth.
