Music: Why Outkast turned down playing the Super Bowl halftime show

As a true hip hop fan, this is damn near saddening, not to mention the potential that the group had to excel to more heights maybe potentially causing other acts to step their lyrical game and performances up. We may not have had to been subjected to today's ABC trap music as mainstream. :smh::smh::smh:

Nah double check. No artists are ever paid for it.

you are correct

Her arrangement will be similar to recent performers like Bruno Mars and Beyoncé: the league won’t give her a fee, but they’ll cover the show’s multi-million dollar production costs.

The NFL does not pay the halftime show performers an appearance fee, though it covers all expenses for the performers and their entourage of stagehands, family, and friends. According to Nielsen SoundScan data, the halftime performers regularly experience significant spikes in weekly album sales and paid digital downloads due to the exposure.

For Super Bowl XLIX, it was reported by the Wall Street Journal that league representatives asked representatives of potential acts if they would be willing to provide financial compensation to the NFL in exchange for their appearance, in the form of either an up-front fee, or a cut of revenue from concert performances made after the Super Bowl. While these reports were denied by an NFL spokeswoman, the request had, according to the Journal, received a "chilly" response from those involved.

damn is a tom joyner cruise that profitable where they can offer an artist $500k?
Yes sir. A lot of old heads love it..i went with one of my co workers...he guaranteed me i would get plenty pussy. Now i should have known what was up cause this nigga is in his late 40s, but he was right plenty pussy..plenty cougar pussy. The ship was packed with single ladies in their 40s 50s and even 60s. Got me some mature ass. Only thing is their joints dont allow for the power fucking im accustomed to giving out. And the smell of vicks permiated the air. Them old niggaz was mad asking me what my young ass doing on the cruise, i should be home with my momma. Gray hair on pussy threw me off at first but i got used to it REAL quick. Dre is an artist and unlike Prince ...he doesn't love performing. Dre doesn't want to be a star ...just creative.

Missy did 30 seconds at the Super Bowl and her albums spiked 3 million in sales the following weeks

Dope ass verse ...Badu might give him some on the low

3k is the reason I never liked outcast he was corny from the very start. For BigBoi I am sure Dre was that friend he always had to say "oh he with me" after people asked who the fuck is this dude?

Naw, Dre is a real cool cat. Very humble, never disrespectful, not corny at all just different. If you have ever been around a truly creative person you would understand. I knew him prior to Outkast, because he went to middle school with me. I was in the 8th grade and he was a 6th grader. I used to kind of look out for the little dude because I could just tell he was different, because I have a bunch of musicians and artist in my family. Anytime I saw this dude from that day forward he always stopped what he was doing and came and chopped it up with me. Nigga could be at the Grammy's he was going to make sure he showed love. Real good dude man. Nigga was in the biggest group in the world in hip hop, and was still riding around Atlanta in a Toyota Landcruiser that he bought with his first check by himself. I respect him because he always did him, never followed.

You kind of prove my point. You had to look out for him because his "creativity" as you called it made him a weird dude thus you did as I said BigBoi did and said to everyone else he good and becsuse of that he showed you love.

Andre3000 is that dude on the mic, but it seems like Big Boi's living a real-life Key & Peele skit dealing with all of his idiosyncrasies and eccentricities. Whenever he talks about 3000, he sounds like he's trying his best to put a positive spin on some weirdo frustrating shit.
:cheers:good job on the explanation!

Without reading. Let me guess 3 fucked it up. If so he's a selfish Murtha fucka:smh: I was surprised he showed up at the One Music fest couple years ago

Cardi B to the Super Bowl Halftime Show: No-kurrr

The politics surrounding the NFL have made it pretty difficult for the organization to book top talent to perform at the impending Super Bowl Halftime Show, so much so that the rumored current line-up, Maroon 5 and Travis Scott, might actually end up backing out. However, we can now cross one of the show’s rumored surprise guests, Cardi B, off the list, mostly because 1) She’s wholly uninterested in having anything to do with that dumb sport Charlie Brown sucks at, and 2) An official offer was never extended. “The rumor circulating that she wants a million dollars and she wants her own set is false. There was never a firm offer to begin with for a performance. There were talks about it, but she was not particularly interested in participating because of how she feels about Colin Kaepernick and the whole movement,” a rep for the rapper told Page Six. “But again, there was never a solid offer for her to say yes or no to regarding the Super Bowl.” Girl is busy anyway!

Which is a roundabout way of saying they get paid. I'm sure artists take advantage of the situation and jack up the expenses in a way that they can pocket the excess money.

Basically...most record deals for imprint labels were scavenged by the CEO of the labels (e.i. Luda...Fat Joe) They would get the money from the parent label, pocket the shit and shelve the artist. Nice but grimey hustle.

OutKast’s Stankonia is getting the reissue treatment to mark the record’s 20th anniversary this fall. On Friday, October 30, the record will be updated on streaming platforms with previously unreleased remixes. Vinyl Me, Please will also release a new 2xLP version of the album on black and white galaxy vinyl to subscribers.
Following the creative achievement of OutKast’s third album Aquemini, Stankonia helped the duo crack into mainstream success with singles like “Miss Jackson,” “So Fresh, So Clean,” and “B.O.B.,” which all went platinum. OutKast won honors for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group at the 2002 Grammy Awards. The record was also up for Album of the Year, but it lost to the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack.
