Just occurred to me...

with recent activity from Beyonce J Cole Kendrick Killer Mike Common etc

hell even Uncle Murda and Maino

has Drake EVER made anything CLOSE to a socially conscious or political song...

EVER?

Not that he has to or is supposed to but I just wanted to ask the question cause maybe I missed it?

No that's not his lane. Here we go again with this dumb stuff. We need to stop demanding artists, sports starts etc to do things the average brotha or sista won't. Don't ask Steph or Lebron to stop working when u won't quit your job. Don't ask Drake, Jay or Fabolous to rap about going back group economics .

If you want a socially conscious song get to your local recording studio and spit that dylan more fire.

That dude from compton will Never be Dr. King. Grown adults need to stop being lazy asses. Don't have kids that you cannot afford. If You want a clean neighborhood get a home depot broom, dust pan and construction trash bags and get to work.

If You can afford a better neighborhood I suggest you do so.

That's not his lane bruh. But in a sense I think his music can be described as "conscious" because it's honest in terms of his own experience which is all I really want from artists. He's telling his own truth. But yeah I don't remember him making anything political or afrocentric (even going back to his early mixtapes -- it's all the same shit)

Holy shit I typed the same words as D Kline! Let me log off this bitch for a while

Don't be scared. You type common sense in terms of this issue. Men and Women in the community are lazy as all get out in 2016. Kats want u to feed their kids.

I completely agree with this

but I just find it interesting homeboy sampled Dead Prez for Yezzus's sake...

but I have NEVER EVER heard his position on anything

damn 6 God took the entire Jordan playbook to heart.

No hes not required to but he can drop at least one. Just to have it in the catalogue.

Drake is a brand oriented, marketing savvy, 2016 type dude. He is NOT about that political shit, he's in it to win it and is not interested in moving the culture forward or anything like that. But honestly.... I still like the dude. He's himself. And that shit just works somehow haha

One of my favourite tracks

Hes always said that phonte was his favourite rapper..and you could completely tell in his early days

Word bruh. I love that mixtape and still play it... the second track with a Phonte feature is pretty dope as well. Miss that dude's rapping, one of my faves honestly... the game is missing his voice for sure.

He went from sounding like Phonte, to sounding like Wayne, to sounding like Future. When you break it down like that, his shit has regressed. lol. I'm sure his bank statements aint mad at it though

Maaaaaan say what you want but that "If You're Reading This It's Too Late" shit was in constant rotation last Summer.... shit was jaaaammmiinnnggg
I can't play 'Energy' without getting turnt

Brothas talk about Drake like a dog yet u want his help. He should say be the hell gone with you and yours. Two face "fans" always begging for an autograph, a selfie etc. He needs to stay mainstream (endorsement deals, his resturant, The Raptors,he should hit Nappa and Sonoma up and collaborate with Chef Keller and others.

Catering to conscious rap heads in an epic fail. Conscious rap doesn't give Live Nation money.

Not dissing the man, but Drake benefits from allot of the shit someone in his genre would normally speak out on........

if u gonna name call at least get my name right your wife knows my government. Typical brain dead waste of oxygen.
