music makers-----what do you use

to create original beats and loops and stuff

I know alot of people here on BGOL like to dabble in it.

What tools do you use to create shit?

Thanks

my foundation for making beats is my roland 303 groove box. On the rare occasion that I use samples (rare because a lot of places won't let you sell your music when you have them.) I have a Boss 303 groove sampler. I also play an electric bass and keyboard that I mainly use to plot chords and play the 303 though midi. I record demos in reaper and take the concepts down to the paragon studio to lay them out professionally

Might sound like simple basic out of date shit, but it's a hell of a lot more powerful then the gear used to record the original hip hop classics. Also, I think that you should use the instruments that you're the most in tune with rather than always trying to cop the latest shit.

Main thing use to be various MPC's, now I just use reason 4 and a pad midi controller and kontrol49. You don't need to buy a bunch of expensive shit to get music done in 07. A decent computer, soundcard and midi controller is all you need these days. Hell you don't even need to buy records with all the available MP3's to download online.

I use Fruityloops/FLStudio. You can do alot with that program. I been using it for 5 or 6 yrs now. You can get the same or even better results vs. An expensive ass machine or program in my opinion. People still question me on how do I get the type of sound that I get coming out of fruityloops when they can't get nowhere near that sound coming from their high priced machines. It's all in the person and their natural talent.

My arsenal includes an MPC 2000, Fantom X6, Karma, PK6(Proteus 2000 Keys), MS2000, JV 2080, XV 5050, Reason 4,Pro Tools LE, several guitars,a Talkbox, and a gang of different virtual synths.
