Music Legal: Ed Sheeran Sued (Again) for Copyright Infringement, This Time by ‘Let’s Get It On’ Co-Writer UPDATE: Sheernan WINS!?

Ok now I get it!

You can make it sound the same, have the same groove and rhythm. But if you play it in a different chord you're good!

I'm glad he won, these are a bunch of lazy decedents of former artist and
Shiesty lawyers pushing this copyright infringement bullshit.

Basically. Similar, but not same.

I got a song I'm working on for the movie for the book that I'm writing (a long way off). It's on some similar shit.

I inadvertently had similar beginning chords as another song, but it's different enough.

I'll find out in about 6 years when my movie is made

Yup. All you got to do is change one chord to a secondary dominant or borrow a chord from its relative major, minor or modal chairs and you are good. These suits keep happening because these producers are brain dead when it comes to music theory and music composition.
