maxwell had several albums, but in my mind, he came out the gate like a supernova with the first one...urban hang suite...you could play the first seven songs on that album back to back and it sounded like one long groove...you could chill on the sofa, a cold drink in one hand and a hottie in the other, press play...and a good time was going to be had that night

i couldn't tell you a single song off of any other maxwell album after that first one - it was that good. dude is still eating off of this first album [almost 30 years old] in live performances today...just saw him when he came to l.a. a few months ago, and almost every time he comes into town...



mano o mano - d'angelo can hang with maxwell overall talent wise, but no one in the neo soul era is going to beat urban hang suite off the strength of one album, [possibly...erykah badu's debut first album baduizm]
